Do you know the reason for the Tanakh ending with a blessing for Israel, and the latter named O.T. ending with a curse on them? Don't forget it's the same books just in a different order. Although in one translation we find the book, or books, of Maccabees.
Some make the claim that order was based on the idea of removing as much Jewishness as possible. The way one reads this to fit their idea of the Jewish people does change from church to church. However their are some that use this to make claims that are not up held in the Whole of the Word. The use of replacement theology has been pushed for as long as there has been any form of western churches. Most of it is based on this one thing, and at lest one uses it make the claim they are the new Israel.
As we know even from modern history, there are always some that wish to try and change history to paint a pitcher they want others to follow. That being one that puts them in a good light and rest of the world in a bad light. Don't forget what Joseph Goebbels said. "If you tell lie often enough, and long enough it becomes truth."
This stands as a reminder that we must never blindly follow the things we are told, rather spend time looking for the truth. Yet in history we find that Rome at one time held the only written, and it was illegal for anyone out side of the church to have one. If any one is still interested in looking at the history of the Bible, we will look at some things that may well blow the top of someones head off.
Surely there were common people who were Christians at that time. If they couldn't read the Bible for themselves, how did they know what God wanted to teach/tell them? That's scary!

Changes? You believe the Bible has been corrupted by man? Why trust any of it?
I never said any thing of the kind. It has under gone changes as in books added, removed, and the order of books.

I may have the time line off a bit, so take that part to heart. However, for some time the church of Rome outlawed any people out side their own repetitive, priest, from owning or reading scripture. Martin Luther with his thesis strated the protestant movement. Many people were killed to try and stop this.

I have a little back tracing to do here sorry. When we look at the history of the Bible we have little chose but to look at in detail, something I have failed to do.
As some may know the Tanakh is what the west calls the O.T. What may don't know is how it came to be.
The T stands for Torah. The first 5 books of the Word. This was excepted as scripture in or around the time it was written. As it need no real introduction we will let it go at that. The reason it was excepted so readily is that it seen as the unadulterated Word of HaShem. As it does hold the Words given to Moses directly from HaShem.
Next we have the Navi'm (writings) This part holds books that are a part of the Torah, or the Prophets. The one exception to this is the book of Daniel. many say this is due in part to the books being placed in order before they decided on the Prophets. Yet they know Daniel need to be included, so it was added to the writings. Yet for some reason there are some that wish to say the books were set in the second temple period. Keep in mind, the Tanakh was still being added to. and some books were being removed.
It is thought that the complete Tanakh was excepted as we we see it in any Jewish Bible some time in the 2centry BC. One thing that was considered was how wide spreed a book was, and how many used it. This was intended to place as light a burden on the people as they could. Yet some books that were in use in both synagogues, and Yeshivas that were not included. Yet they used them non the less. Until they could get a full scroll.
As we said, there were changes made in the Tanakh, some by accident, others may have been doe with an understanding of why. Most of the changes made that were known, were allowed as they helped to make clear some parts that were a bit hard to understand. As to the parts that were by accident. They sliped past the scribe, and well as the proofreaders. As with any written document, when doing them by hand, mistakes can be made. Had even one mistake been found, the whole thing was trashed, and the scribe had to start all over.
More on this when we return. I do hope you are all enjoying this topic.

As the time line for the Tanakh is largely debated, and/or unknown for sure, the best we can do is to understand that many parts of it are found in both the New Testament, as well as the Dead Sea Scrolls. So it was widely used by everyone that held HaShem in their hearts.
Then as we know the council of Hippo in the year 393 the N.T. was canoed. Now keep in mind that it was in or around 325 AD that Constantine made Christianity the sate religion of Rome. However, the church had made it illegal to own a bible unless you were a member of their clergy. For some time it could get you beheaded, burned at the stake, or any number of was killed for owning a Bible. Some say it was 1000 years, other say closer to 1400 years before that changed. We know Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on or about Oct. 31, 1517. This was seen as the birth of the Protestant Reformation.
To this point in time the RCC held a monopoly on all teachings, laws, and even government power. After all that time, we can still find some teachings of the RCC in almost every church today. In many forms of replacement theology, from the church replacing Israel, to the law being replaced in one way or another.
As to what became of scripture in that time little is known. We do know that over time at lest one person found the courage to stand up and say enough. In 1521, Emperor Charles V of Germany, who issued the famous Edict of Worms. Anyone that killed Martin Luther would be free to do so without any worries of being tried for murder.
Before this however, in or around 1380 a man named John Wycliffe translated the New Testament into English for the first time. He was later, (after his death) had his bones dug up and burned for this act. Also a man named Willem Tyndale in 1536 was burned at the stake for the same reason. It makes one wonder just what the RCC was trying to hide.

When one looks at the history of the Word, we find that when Constantine made what is loosely called Christianity the state religion of Rome, 2 things came about.
1 As there were no priest in any Roman religion that knew anything about the Word, they were placed over this new religion. In so doing many of the things that we today should know, and understand were removed, or replaced.
In replacing them, they filled in the blanks with pagan teachings. After all it would do little good to get killed your first week in this new job. What they removed, they simply set it a side and forgot about it.
However one thing we must understand is that Jews were hated much as they are today. So to get the pagans on board with this new religion, there had to be a separation between them and the Jewish people. Many pagan days were used to replace the true Biblical teachings.
Easter replaced Passover. Shabbat was replaced with Sunday. The day they worshiped the Sun, also named after that pagan day.
This list can get long so I will leave it as is.
One thing is for sure, With the advent of the RCC, came many changes to how the word was understood. Today the infulance of the RCC is seen almost every church in some way.

Today we have thous that have little to no understanding of the teachings of Yeshua. Don't get me wrong I understand why, after all I was once so indoctrinated by church doctrine, that I would turn to Paul every time. Just as I see so many on here doing. Like them I would use Paul to discrete the teachings of Yeshua if need be, just to stay true to the church.
Then one day I read a book that changed that for me. It was called TO LONG IN THE SUN I am sorry I have no idea now who the author is.
In this book 2 things were made clear.
1 The RCC worked to remove the Laws, or at lest parts of it. You see to this day they pray to dead people, and place their hopes in man kind. As I said in the above post, almost every church follows some parts of the RCC. Most will reject this idea, and that's fine by me. However when one follows a Sunday sabbath, they are following the decree of the RCC. It was done to place as much distance between them and the Jewish people. As well as make the pagans happy. After all, the last thing the pagan priest wanted was to have everyone out to kill them.
What the RCC did later became known as replacement theology. The law was replaced in their minds by grace. Yet grace had always been the hope of the Jewish people. Just as salvation was always by faith and never by works.
2 The Pauline doctrine had taken over. For any that don't know, the Pauline doctrine removed the teachings of Yeshua, in favor of Paul. By doing so, they now had the freedom to remove law, and change the sabbath at will.
Today, almost every church holds some form of replacement theology. Most teach that Israel is nothing more than a bunch of lost souls, with no hope of redemption. They think, inspite of the Word really tells us that they can say, "I except Yeshua, then live a life of sin. After all if their is no law, there is no sin held against us. 1John 3:4.
Before anyone tries to tel me the Sabbath is Sunday, I will need you to show me in scripture where it tells us this. I am not talking of

Act 20:7And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

As it is clear by the use of this passage, we can say that any day is now the sabbath. After all, the disciples most likly came together at lest once on the other 6 days as well.

I agree it is disrespectful. However it goes to show the respect many now hold for the Word, it's truth, and teachings. Funny thing is, you may not have seen this as the place to post your thoughts, yet it seems you have found a great place for it. So with that in mind, let's now look at the other side.
As what they called the Bible didn't flutter, showing the pages whip around like any book would, odds are that wasn't a Bible as you and I think of it. That doesn't excuse the idea they planted, nor the teaching it gives. Yet it does show what this thread is about. The legacy left in many churchs today that got there beginnings with the RCC.

Not many really look at the history of the Word. Oh we all look at little things, like how the Word gives us a history of Israel and so on. Yet have we ever looked at the history of the Word it's self? Not many really have. It is the hope that this threat will open that topic in ways we never thought.
Now if there is no one willing to give it a look, and talk about this, we will stop the thread. After all what is the point of trying to engage others that hold no will to seek the truth.
So what will be looked at.
1 How the word has changed in both it's cannon, and language.
2 Has any part of it ever been changed? If so by who, and why?
3 How has it been used in the past?
We know that from the 3 topics we placed here, it can grow into a list so large we have little hope of seeing the end. Yet by addressing what is here, we may learn some things we over looked, or have just never heard. So if there is an interest in this, let it be known. if not there is no reason to move any further.
I mean, yeah, it’s interesting. Are you talking about the early manuscripts, actual time measurement? Archaeological finds, etc (Ken Ham stuff)?

Just looking at what has became of the Word. The way it's meaning, and teachings, have changed over time. Something that has is needed for a lot of people, at lest from what I have seen on here anyway.

No...
Winds of doctrines change over time but that was very accurately predicted by many over the millenia.

But the essential doctrines have never changed despite people's best efforts.

And yet there are over 1000 different denominational doctrines in the world today. Many that are willing to turn to Paul to discredit the teachings of Yeshua. Others follow the idea that they have replaced Israel as the chosen people. I will say now that I am not here to argue the merits of any church, this is aboout the way the Bible has changed, as well as many of the truths it holds.

Old copies and manuscript fragments have been dated to 100BC and do not have any significant differences between the Bible we have today versus then.

Interpretations vary wildly....that's the reason why the denominations.

Man is sinful and error prone.

That's why...the truth hasn't changed. It's been the same.

1. They haven't been carbon dated, 2. They have significant differences, like someone didn't care to precisely copy what they read.
