Penny farthing

I've actually had a go on one. Well sort of tried to have a go on one. I clung to
the top while someone else had to keep it upright!

Powered by human legs.

I had to cut and thread some spokes for one of those. The rider had to buy one as he had knee issues and he can ride a penny fathing OK as his knees are in a different position.

My grandad had one built for him. He was a designer and once worked for Renault and they made him up a Renault 15 with the larger Renault 17 engine in it. His was in white. He added spot lights and fog lights. It was the coolest looking car. I wanted it after he bought another but I was only 15 so my older cousin had it. He had a little bump at high speed in it and later his wife hit a car in front when she drove it at a good 120 mph! Unfortunately it was written off. My grandad had kept it immaculate. It was one of the last around in these parts. It was getting on towards 15 years old. Once it was Renaults flagship model along with the 17.

Good engine/tranny. Terrible hydraulic steering.
I remember when I was 9 or so watching the movie O God, with the pacer car in it. I think that movie made the car some what popular I would see them all over the place. lol

Interesting. In UK we had Pinto engined Ford Escorts. My uncle bought an ex rally car with one in and it could shift, and was very stable as a car. I remember my cousin having a go in it and taking tight corners at 70mph and it felt like 30 mph as it was so sure footed. Had a roll cage bit no creature comforts. Was a Mk1 2 door. My uncle only paid £150 for it. They go for over £10,000 today.
Pinto engines and then Cosworth engines needed total rebuilds every 50,000 miles I was told. It was the reason why when Ford took over Volvo about fifteen years ago they used the Volvo T5 engine converted to fit the flagship Ford Focus model as it could go for a good 200,000 before we needing major rebuilds. They had to shorten the engine block to get it to fit! Hence they reduced the power slightly to ensure it lasted as they were churning out 250 bhp in the Volvo. (220bhp in the Ford).

I can't believe Alfa Romeo has made it into the US market.
This is an old model from the 90s.

[/QUOTE.
That Pacer reminds me of another car that was my favorite of all time. Had that same glass hatchback. It was a British car made for about 20 years and they're never seen any more. So.. Introducing the Jensen Interceptor.....

My first car: 1715115755701.jpeg
Mine was gun-metal gray and I got so much attention when I pulled up somewhere, that I sold it. I now know how famous people feel when they get bombarded, everyone talking/yelling at once, lol.
