I can't say if it's appropriate or not, but it's a long way from the picture I remember of the Lord with children on His lap.

I don’t think it’s appropriate.
Seems similar to other pictures when atheists want to make fun of Christians by showing Jesus with an AR15 and a MAGA hat.
I don’t find it appropriate.

I find the picture blasphemous, as it places Jesus subservient to the US flag, rather than having the US flag subservient to Jesus.

Joshua 5:13 - 14
And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?
And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come.
And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my Lord unto his servant?

What if it had been a rainbow flag?

Art is subjective. We claim to be a nation under God. Perhaps the creator of the meme was simply reminding us as a nation. Perhaps the creator was, as some suggest, put the flag before Jesus. Even if the creator of the meme intended it for evil, we can still find the good in it if it focuses us on Christ.

If it had been a rainbow flag it would have been equally distasteful and its meaning would me more of a meme than anything resembling faith, since there would be some sort of caricature trans person in the background with ugly makeup.
Try for middle ground is my motto.

I mean, some people get real worked up over a movie called The Chosen which is in no way as extravagant or extreme as a Jesus with an AK47 or Jesus with some sort of circus trans picture.

Appropriate

Appropriate is a word with an inherent need for context.
The question is: appropriate for what?

I'm not sure that's what the meme does, or intends to do... but Moses raises an extremely valid concern.

And that concern brings us to an even deeper issue about the nature of memes:
Memes can be powerful, but they can also mean different things to different people... they have an ability to lack clarity, or to be misinterpreted.

Personally, instead of posting memes, I think about EXACTLY what I want to say...
then I just say that.

God Bless.

no, too political!

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God...

Is that too political?

He's holding the flag, how do you see that as subservient?

I don't know how anyone could look at that and see evil.

these images were in a past long gone, the USA as well as many countries ( like canada where I live) no longer follow God do you not see that? Do you think God at this time in history approves of the US doings?

Agree, and notice it is the Christ Jesus with the crown of thorns as though Jesus is suffering with the USA.

These images are emotionally manipulative, which is fine I suppose as long as one is aware of it, I suspect many are not aware and no wonder the divisions in the USA continue to deepen.

A Godless gov't doesn't change anything. American was built on Christian principles. And I believe there is a strong majority who still believe in and follow God. I don't know what doings you're talking about so I can't speak to that.
