If only it were that simple. As I've said before and now repeat: Trump is only the latest front man. The group behind the curtain, and pulling the strings, is The Heritage Foundation. They've been steering the Republican party since at least 1981 with the Reagan administration. It all started with the tome, Mandate for Leadership: Policy Management in a Conservative Administration. Reagan enacted many of its recommendations. The Mandate has undergone many revisions and titles since 1981; the latest of which is Project 2025. The Heritage Foundation are unelected, but they are exercising a tremendous amount of influence over the Republican party. They aren't simply going to quit when Trump's gone.

The US probably needs something like a Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice like they have in Afghanistan. There they just made it illegal for women to show their faces or for their voices to be heard in public. Sounds like a religious paradise to me.
