2 different bills. The one that the House sent to the Senate closed the border. The bill that came back codified illegal immigration and sped up processing. You should actually read the bills rather than left wing loonies.

If crime rates in cities are plummeting (which they are), but some people don't believe it because politicians try and scare them by saying the cities are actually very dangerous, then the problem is with those politicians and the people who blindly believe them, right?
I think you've touched on one of the main sources behind our differences.
You're pointing to feelings, whereas I point to facts. To you, if you feel like crime is high, then that the facts show the opposite just gets waved away.
But I would suggest you ask yourself why you think crime is so high in cities. Is it because you have actual data or info? Or is it because the politicians you listen to and the news sources you look at keep feeding you scary stories to in order to manipulate your feelings?

That's why I support the immigration reform bill crafted by Senator Lankford (R-OK) that Trump ordered to be killed, because he needed it to still be an issue for his campaign.

I gotta say, that article is pretty bad.
It tries to argue that you can't compare crime rates among illegals to rates of citizens because illegals get deported whereas citizens don't. That makes zero sense. If illegal immigrants were committing crimes at high rates and millions of illegals were coming across the border every month, then that would absolutely, definitely show up in the data, whether the criminals were subsequently deported or not.
The fact that no data set shows such a thing is a very, very solid indication that it isn't happening.
And then of course the article points to individual cases. While I agree they're terrible, they're no more a reflection on migrants as a whole than individual cases of child abuse in churches reflect on Christians as a whole.

Police sources shared with The Post a staggering estimate that as many as 75% of the people they’ve been arresting in Midtown Manhattan in recent months for crimes like assault, robbery and domestic violence are migrants. In parts of Queens, the figure is more than 60%, sources there estimate.
On any given day, Big Apple criminal court dockets are packed with asylum seekers who have run afoul of the law.
The problem is made much worse by sanctuary city laws that mean New York cops aren’t allowed to work with ICE on cases in which they believe suspects are in the country illegally.
Additionally, the NYPD says it is barred from tracking the immigration status of offenders.
This makes it almost impossible for authorities to get their arms around the problem, experts and sources on the ground say.
“New York City eliminated a tool to get rid of violent criminals. What a mess,” Jim Quinn, a veteran former prosecutor at the Queens District Attorney’s Office, told The Post.
“The sanctuary city law is pathetic. It’s disgusting. It’s crazy.”
Making matters worse, police sources say, word has gotten out in the shelters about the city’s lax bail guidelines — meaning migrants know they’re going to get kicked back onto the street quickly after they’re nabbed.
A City Hall spokesman pointed to Mayor Eric Adams’ previous calls for the City Council to change the sanctuary city laws.
Last week, Adams said, “Right now, we don’t have the authorization to be able to go and coordinate with ICE. We have to follow the law.”

I'm curious where yall stand on amnesty in a border bill. I think generally Democrats support amnesty and it's a bit mixed in the Republican party.
For me, I'm 100% against amnesty. It spits in the face of the people who are waiting in line, legally, to immigrate to the US. It's rewarding bad behavior and even encouraging it. Amnesty is a non-negotiable for me... but I'm open to hearing arguments for it if yall have any.

I agree, which is why as I said earlier, we should have passed the immigration reform bill that was developed by Sen. Lankford (R-OK). It severely rolls back the asylum system, puts much stricter requirements for immigrants to gain asylum, mandates closure of the border when crossings get too high, and provides resources to speed up the court and deportation systems.
But Trump couldn't let it pass because then he couldn't use immigration in his campaign. IOW, he put his campaign over the good of the country.
