Yes and the enemy is crafty subtle . The truth is Jesus words in the gospel and his apostles in the epistles of the nt is always going to be correct doctrine
God is wise in that he knows man’s failings and so he purposes his words to be written and preserved for all creatures to know . We should always check what’s said against what’s written because it’s never going to change

Well the poster asked a specific question with reference to being called out of the world, not necessarily a church(s) Granted you had to read a bit to see that, but painting with a broad brush usually results in including everyone and I don't think that is the case. We may disagree on that. But again, if you are a cessationist, that would change how you view things from how I and many others view things. But you did not indicate you were not, so I guess we will understand that you are in fact a cessationist? Unless you correct that and say you are not.
We don't have a lot of scripture telling us what to do in church. I Corinthians 14 is the longest passage, probably. Chapter 11 tells how not to have the Lord's Supper.I was reading in another thread and was kind of surprised at how some of the posts read like instructions from God and how everyone else had better listen to the instructions or suffer the consequences. I'm not trying to single anyone out, or discuss another poster, but I would like to discuss what others think about this 'God told me to tell you' business.
In case anyone is not familiar with what I mean, I am referring to the apparent blossoming practice of supposedly receiving direct communication from God with the instructions that everyone else should benefit and be instructed by the 'word' a person has received. You will find all kinds of self proclaimed 'prophets' in certain church circles these days and of course it's easy to find on the web.
I think it's not from God in most cases but I would like to find out what others have to say about it. Thanks
I'll add that I do believe the spiritual gifts listed in Ephesians are still valid but have become misused in many churches and people try to gain importance in the eyes of others by operating either from their own flesh or worse.
I Corinthians 14 encourages believers to covet to prophesy, says to let the prophets speak two or three in church, and let the other judge, and also say you can all prophesy one by one. Paul says these are commandments of the Lord.
The Bible never says when you go to church one pastor is supposed to preach one long sermon. In I Corinthians 14:26, 'every one of you' has a psalm, doctrine, tongue, revelation, interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. There are more instructions about how this is to be done, including the parts about prophesying.
Paul's in I Thessalonians 5 says Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Hold fast to that which is good.
Now if you come in with an attitude that this 'God told me to tell you stuff' is that despising prophesying?
Peter describes prophesying of old time as 'Holy men of old spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.' In Acts the prophet Agabus predicted a famine, and the saints took up a collection for the poor saints in Jerusalem as a result. He also prophesied that Paul would be bound. Ananias had a revelation from the Lord and he told Paul about how he would be a witness, which was telling the Lord's requirement for Paul (in line with revelation he also received in this case.) The book of Revelation is a book of prophecy that has some commands for the churches also.

He was suggesting that God would lead a person to avoid ALL churches and I was responding.
And for as being a cessationist, I will say I hate putting labels on others.
That too is painting with a broad brush as you say.
But I will admit that I believe that what is taught and practiced as speaking in tongues today is not what took place in Jerusalem that day the Holy Spirit filled that upper room.

I'm not going to debate it with you. Cessationist simply means the cessation of all the gifts or more likely the cessation of some of the 'sign' gifts and it is your persuasion to believe as you do.
Thank you I have read his post a couple of times as well as the other. Feel free to consider my understanding as wrong. I don't think it needs to be addressed again. No one is giving points out here as far as I know.

Excellent, for me personally, anyway - I do my best to listen To What is "The Way" The Blessed Holy Spirit Wants "To LEAD And Guide" me in. Apart From His Word Of Truth, Rightly Divided, I know of
no other 'Way', so I again do my best to Adhere to All of these: Bible study Rules!

I would just like to remind everyone of the Samaritan woman at the well who asked Jesus if they should worship at the temple in Jerusalem or at Jacobs' well. Jesus replied that there will come a time where they will worship at neither, but in
spirit and in truth. Of course, I advocate a place where Christians can gather together to worship and disseminate knowledge from the Bible. This could be at home, with friends, or in a designated building.Fortunately, we are living at a time where knowledge is at our fingertips. Unfortunately, many pastors (unintentionally) are off the truthful path, and then it is up to each individual person to do his own research and not rely on what some misguided pastors tell him about what is true or not. I guess most people are of the mindset that their pastors know a lot more than they do and are too lazy to do their own research. Church attendance is good, but not required for salvation.
Also, the Church is not a place, but a group of saints.

I only trust God's Holy Spirit and what the Father and Son reveals to me from the KJV of the Bible. Should I trust what men say? When the revelations I get is congruous with all scripture, then I have no choice but to think of it as truth and to reveal it as God's truth, not mine.
Amen there’s no teacher on earth that will teach like a study of the gospel and genuine prayer for understanding
