Bade is the past tense of bid. Bid means wish. They wished to stone them (Joshua and Caleb) with stones.

Some suggest that Jethro, Zipporah’s father, was actually from Ethiopia but had moved to Midian, making Zipporah an Ethiopian by birth but one who had lived in Midian. We aren't entirely sure of this though. Sometimes, assumptions have to be made.
Thanks for clarifying! Where did the speculation come from that Jethro was Ethiopian? I just realized that Jethro is Reuel, have to review his origin of lineage. Wasn't he of Isreal? I could be way off here, I need to go back and review
The more you look into Balaam, the more you find that he really isn't a good guy. He isn't mentioned much more after this part of the Bible, but we will run into him again. I guess I'll refrain from saying more for right now, I'll leave it until we briefly run into him again.
