That's one of my favorites.
The last dog I owned was a German Shepherd mix too. At least that's what we were told when my Mom took us to look at the puppies. The people owned the mother, a cattle dog called a Blue Healer. I wanted a good watch dog because someone broke into the house and stole almost everything I had. I wanted a big strong breed that would be trainable protection dog.
They are a strong, very intelligent herder, but only small/ medium sized and long hair.
The owner's said they thought the father was a German Shepherd so I was hopeful. GS have long hair too. The pup I got didn't have long hair though. As it grew, it looked like a Shepherd in the face, but had partially floppy ears that dropped half way and perked up when he was listening.
His coat was very short. He was very muscular and strong. I'm wondering if there are short haired German Shepherds or perhaps the father was a Belgian Malinois? They look so similar.
I wasn't sure what he would grow up to be like, so I gave him a very masculine and intimidating name.
I remember a pastor who told his family that they would not get a pet.
That week, his youngest little girl asked the Lord for a puppy.
Nobody but the Lord and those two parents heard that prayer.
Guess what showed up on the doorstep the next morning?
A little puppy was dropped off on the church parking lot. The puppy was on the doorstep begging to be brought in.
When he saw it, He couldn't argue with God. That puppy took to that precious girl as his best friend. They were best friends from then on and lived happily ever after.

This was my dog breed.
I used to train Rottweilers as personal protection for multimillionaires.
I trained my own guard, attack/ personal protection dog after a loser named John Lemon broke into our house and stole everything that I owned.
My dog was a perfect mix of a black Belgian Malinois male with a Blue Healer herding dog. It was a super dog, better than any I've seen in my life. I could've gotten a bumper sticker saying, my dog is smarter than your honor role student. Lol
He was in a couple attack protection scenarios before the local cop's kid shot him and tortured him to death.

I have seen captive wolves and mixes.
They are incredible animals.
One was the biggest dog I'd ever seen. It was a Siberian Wolf. It made the grey wolf female look tiny and she was twice the size of a German shepherd.
Glad it was friendly. It could have eaten me for a snack. Big smile and unproportionally large head.
I just saw a video of an Asian lady walking 2 that were at shoulder height. Maybe it was cgi/. AI. Hard to tell.

I loved Mom's dobies. They were very good even tempered and affectionate.
I think her's would have been barking and going after any threats like that. That owner had to be keeping it calm somehow.
