I got a daisy 880 177 the other day and got to try it out on a starling today. 10 pumps and it killed it almost instantly.

wow, for a 177 that's good!
I have a 747 with Walther barrel, quite accurate, but only a single pump.

I have a single pump (spring piston) 177, can't remember the brand... it's pretty accurate, at least across my backyard. I haven't shot it in quite a while... guess I should clean it up and try it out...

I have a Handi Rifle in .22 Hornet that I haven't shot much. I used to shoot a Contender Carbine in .22 K-Hornet, but ended up selling it. I rented a chamber reamer, and changed my Hornet to a K-Hornet yesterday. I still had some ammo loaded up, and I used those as a go-gauge. They drop in the chamber perfectly. I will try to get it out and test fire it in the next few days.... it will be good to have a K Hornet again... it's a zippy little cartridge..

That 22 hornet is a nice round. I always wanted a handy rifle in 357 but with iron sights. Almost impossible to find now.

Yes, the .357 is sort of a grail type thing for me, as well.. I'd probably ream it out to 357 Maximum.... but those are almost unicorn status now...

I remember an old single shot 177 pellet rifle with the break down barrel. It was very accurate and Dad set up an indoor range for me. I miss that .
Somebody broke in and stole that and Dad's classic high end weapons.
Of course that was for small game, plinking, training and target. Ammo was cheap. I didn't appreciate those like I should have at the time. Time with my parents was better than the things of course.

I got to shoot the .22 K-Hornet yesterday.... I think it is going to be a good shooter... shooting the old loads I had, I shot 5 or 6 groups... the worst group was about 1.3" at 100 yards, and the best was 1.0" center to center. I think that with a little load development, this will be a consistent 1" shooter, or even better. I'm happy...
The velocity of that 40g VMax averaged 3100 fps...

have you ever tried a fireball? interesting round.

I've never owned one... I had a friend that bought one of the early XP100 handguns that came out... I think he got it in 1972-3... we decided that out of that 10" barrel, the cartridge was aptly named...
I've always thought it would be a really good varmint round out of a really light rifle.

Hickock 45 on self defense pistol selection
3 shots, 3 yards, three seconds. sounds like any revolver, any caliber, can fulfill this requirement.
Safe and effective, all you do is pull the trigger.

Hickock is so full of common sense... I can absolutely see him as a teacher... which is what he used to be...
His advice in this video is just down to earth, realistic...

Too bad really that they switched from .30-06 to 5.56. I get it that you can carry more ammunition on you, easier on the recoil, cheaper and whatnot, but the difference in stoppage power is big.

I know I’m exaggerating ridiculously now, but compared to .30-06, the 5.56 is a BB gun.

I always wondered why the AR-10 was that much bigger and heavier than the AR-15.... Ruger has since proven that the 7.62 (308) can be chambered in a smaller rifle... basically the same size as the AR-15...

Given that fact, the only reason for going to the 5.56 would be the ability to carry more ammo.

I've always thought that the Russians had a better compromise in the 7.62X39... quite a bit more power than the 5.56, but still about the same in the "ammo carrying" department.
