No unbelievers have those qualities. They are fruit produced by the Spirit. They may try to replicate these things outwardly, but are not acting so inwardly. Spiritual individuals know the difference.

Yes I am. The method of baptizing was to be teaching. This is how they would be submerged into the fullness of who God is, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. And because it is teaching, it is a command given to those appointed to teach.
Matt.28:19-20
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Disciples are not made by "taking a bath" but by sound teaching of the truth.
You have just shown what I said was correct. Physical circumcision was meant to teach the need to put off the sin nature which resides in the flesh. (Rom.7:23)

I would slightly disagree with you on that inasmuch as they are "fruits of the Spirit". However, I would say many unbelievers have what they think those qualities are from a human perspective. We don't truly understand what those attributes are like until we know God and that knowing is ongoing. We develop that fruit over time (or at least we should, no guarantees though).

While I agree with your ending assessment, it's definitely referring to water baptism. The command to baptize is given to the disciples who do not have the ability to baptize with the Spirit. If it is referring to baptizing by teaching simply interjecting the preposition "by" before teaching would have made this plain. Do you know of any other scripture that relates baptism to immersion by teaching?

I disagree it is "definitely referring to water". They have been told Christ's baptism would be with the Spirit, why would Christ ask them to revert to John's baptism or even continue with it? It makes no sense. A New Covenant was about to come into effect. It's obvious the early disciples/apostles did not get what Christ was about to unleash. They were still struggling with the concept of including Gentiles even after they had been baptized and even though it was a Gentile who received the biggest commendation from Jesus. They continued doing what they knew, not what Christ told them to do. He told them to go to the ends of the earth but it took persecution to get them out of Jerusalem.
One cannot be submerged into God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) by being dunked in water and Christ isn't asking them to baptize with the Holy Spirit but with teaching ie. make the fullness of God known.

How do you understand the phrase "name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit"? I understand it as being the person/character of the Lord God and to be baptized into God means to be inundated with the knowledge of Him which, is eternal life. How else does one know God except through the word?

Why would Jesus would command His followers to apply that which is symbolic when His death and resurrection paved the way for the reality? It would be a complete waste of time looking for water to baptize people when they could be evangelizing. And yes, I do think Phillip didn't understand how everything was to work initially along with the rest of the disciples. Why should anyone be surprised by that? They were told to go and make disciples of all the nations but then were taken aback when Cornelius, a Gentile, is incorporated. They had to learn the same way we all do and many a time it is through our mistakes that drives us back into the word of God to see where we went wrong.
Anyone who is not sealed with the Spirit doesn't belong to God. We are sealed when we believe, it is a part of what happens when we are baptized with the Spirit into Christ. Our experience does not teach us about God, it is that error that leads to cults. Our experience confirms God's word as true. A lot of the debates we have in this forum is because people rely on their experience to inform them of God's way rather than being informed by the word.
My life is what proclaims my faith, not getting wet. You see the command to be carried out by means of water, I see it carried out by means of teaching the truth. You can rely on water if you want, as for me I'll stick with the word and the Spirit to do what water can never do.
