I really don't know why they haven't been reported for these practices or who you'd report it to. Someone in a Facebook group pointed it out to me. So I went to DT as I do a lot and I saw the exact same item one priced at 1.25, the other had a red dot covering the 1.25. The cashier informed me that it was 1.50, I had no way of knowing that, and that the other item that said 1.25 would be charged the higher price! No good to fight with him over it, but that's all over the store. I picked up another item that was sitting on a shelf with 3 dollar items, no that was 5 dollars. Socks that I bought at 1.25 a week ago are now 3-5 bucks.Customers are not happy and I think DT is gonna find out the hard way that you don't kick your customers in the face. I was not a happy camper.

I watched some investigative reporters on YouTube report a lot of false advertising and overcharges in those dollar stores that put every last Mom and pop brick and mortar out of business with Amazon and Walmart crime syndicates. The gt lock downs robbed us of the last few dollars we invested to be a blessing to our brothers and sisters. It's economic warfare. I don't expect the attorneys general of our states to do squat. They work for the corrupt governor's according to their own testimony.

i have a dollar tree close to my house, so i am in there once or twice a week.

and it is still confusing to me....

Blame it on corp. headquarters.
These companies make the price changes in the computer system from the home office.
They simple do not put enough bodies in the store to keep up.
I avoid the type stores because they pay minimum wage and work people to death.
At least Walmart pays $16-$20 an hour and gives their employees 10% discount on purchases.

If I had to guess, the factory hasn't caught up with tariff prices yet, and is still printing the old price on the box. They would lose money at that price so they gotta do what they gotta do.

$3 to $5 is a big hike. I think we can expect to see some price increases on foreign made goods. Dollar stores are not what they used to be, and I actually don't see huge savings when compared to supermarkets.

I didn't think that was legal. But I'm sure some young cashier is getting cussed backside forward over it. I didn't say anything, just told him I didn't want the items. But they are saying people are going to boycott over it. I just can't seem to care enough to go that far. Too dang hot here. 115 was the actual temperature today. HOT!!

In our area Dollar Tree prices went to $1.25 over a year ago.

Now,they have all sorts of merchandise that range in price from 1.25 to 7.00.

Family Dollar is a subsidiary of DT.

Decades ago in our hometown Dollar General opened. Dollar? General.

Nope. Just a small department store with varying prices of merchandise.

You know the economy is whacky when Dollar Tree becomes Dollar Twenty-Five Tree. :p

There was an awesome pick your toppings pizza place in my BFF'S hometown. Pie Five.

Pizza, $5 dollars, any toppings. One size, medium.

They went out of business.

I was at Speedway and some of the prices on the floor were lower than when they are rung up.

Now one could say that they forgot to change the price.

But is it a way to get people to pay the higher price.

For if it was the higher some might think I will not pay that.

But if it is the lower price they might think I will pay that.

But when it gets rung up with the higher price they might pay it seeing it is already rung up.

And they made a sale they would not otherwise get if it was the higher price on the floor.

For they love money so they will do whatever it takes.

And making excuses to make it seem justified.

Like if minimum wage goes up 1 dollar and they have 2 workers that is 2 dollars an hour.

But they will up the prices so they are making 50 dollars or more an hour using the minimum wage increase as an excuse.

The more workers they have the more product to up the price.

Walmart selling Dr. Scholl's comfort fit insoles for 49.96.

But it is a pathetic amount of material costing them less to make than the other insoles.

But they cry "comfort fit" "comfort fit" to charge more money.

Whipped up yogurt, peanut butter, butter, and whatever else to give you less.

But they try to convince you it is better and a delight that will make your taste buds dance with joy.

Stores claiming they are a convenience store to charge you 18 dollars for an item while other stores charge 10 dollars.

Also the deals are gone with the stores and restaurants blatantly charging high prices and not caring what about the people think.

Once that trend got going everybody jumps on the bandwagon.

Dollar stores charging higher prices than other stores.

Speedway charging 7.99 for a measly, poultry, pathetic, 5 buffalo wings which is 2 and a half chicken wings which is 31.96 for 10 chicken wings.

Hey guess what son and daughter, you me and mommy are going to go to Speedway and get 5 buffalo wings a piece and it will only cost 31.96.

And that is not including a small drink drink and small bag of chips.

So with all that it will only be 55.00 for that measly, poultry, pathetic meal.

Isn't that wonderful.

Daddy what.

It is amazing how much they love money all the while they smile like they care.

They can be billionaires and they still do not care to give a good deal.

America became a competition to see how far they can go money wise.

Business wise and individual wise.

And that is basically the attitude of America.

The poor cry about the rich but the poor want to be rich.

I was recently in one and they had 3-5 carts OVERFLOWING with food being sold on "clearance" , we're talking .25 & .50!!!!
The sell by or expiration date was that day and they young man working there was very upset about it saying that at the end of his shift (end of the day) he would have to toss it all into the dumpster!!!
I asked him why the store doesn't just send it to a local food pantry he told me it's not the companies policy :(
they are told to toss it/destroy it all!!!

I've seen at Dollar Trees the boxes overflowing with things from programs like their "Operation Homefront" where when you check out and they ask if you'd like to purchase an item for it, and when people do an item from the collection by the register goes into a box that is supposedly going to military families (or what ever 'organization' is currently being promoted) BUT I have seen those same boxes all up and down the aisles being rummaged through by customers or restocking the stores with it. I have heard that the items themselves don't go to the 'organization' but that the funds do.... I'm skeptical about that one :cautious:

And it was at a Dollar Tree where a manager was called over to help the young foreign girl who was having trouble giving me back the correct change. What she punched into the machine and was trying to give back to me was correct based on the machine, but what she punched into the machine was incorrect because she counted my money incorrectly. After all was resolved the manager and I were talking and she told me how desperate the store is for employees and unfortunately many of the highschoolers or recent graduates they hire, regardless of their nationality, have NO CLUE how to count or handle money but she's told to hire them anyway because they need employees. o_O

A Dollar Tree and a Family Dollar opened near us about three years ago. Both closed their doors in less than a year. They couldn't compete with four Dollar Generals within a ten mile radius. A new Dollar General opened six miles from where the Family Dollar was.

How does Dollar General compare with Family Dollar? Because it appears Dollar General have something better than Family Dollar.

Dollar General stocks the products, including food, that the people served by the store need. Their prices are usually lower than Family Dollar.

I spent 45 years in retail food industry. We gave our out dated food to a food bank as many others did.
When a person that used the food bank claimed he got sick from the food we gave and sued my company and won a two million dollar settlement, the decision was made by Corp that all such product was to be destroyed.
Some times those who can benefit are the ones who cause such actions.

I usually go to Walmart Supercenter or Walmart Neighborhood Supermarket. But they are both a bit of a drive away.

I actually have a Dollar General and a Family Dollar both closer to me. They are actually right across the street from each other!

So I'm going to try out Dollar General (and probably Family Dollar since its across the street) to save money on gas having to go to Walmart!

Good thing a Christian is focused on things above, not things below, otherwise it would be difficult to have hope.

Walmart here delivers pretty much anything in the store for free, so we take advantage of that service often. The closest Dollar General is about five miles away. We stop by often when we are returning from lunch to pick up ice cream or milk.

We check items in our food pantry often, and purge all outdated food products for the same reason.

I wish that I can say the same things because I like Walmart a lot, but I tried delivery and it hasn't worked out at all.

The entrance to my house is on the side instead of the front so Walmart always leaves my stuff next door. at my neighbor's. ALWAYS. Even when I told customer service repeatedly where my entrance is.

I finally had to give up. Maybe I'll move somewhere better someday where the entrance is actually in the front!
