The reason that women should remain silent (when men are present) and not seek to usurp authority over them is because of the Divine order. God determines truth - not us. If God said it, it is His Truth and we ignore/reject it at our peril. The 21st century church is forever throwing out parts of the bible they don't like. Who sets mere man as the authority to decide right from wrong. It is God who sets the rules and the boundaries. Those who try to conform the Bible to todays thinking are making themselves gods. "do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds" n"as high as the heavens are above the earth, so are my thoughts above your thoughts and my ways above your ways, says the Lord". We need to come in humility and brokenness before our God and accept His Word regardless of how painful it feels to us.

Regarding the "DIVINE ORDER" Paul writes to the Ephesians that the head of every man is Christ and the head of every woman is the man. 1 Cor 11:3 These are not my words, they are the WORD OF GOD! Paul goes on to explain the reason for the Divine order, verse 10 "because of the angels".

Paul said that Adam was not deceived, but the woman was. Again just simply quoting the Bible. Please do not shoot the messenger! The Bible is the inspired word of God, so what Paul wrote is infallible scripture. So it must be true! So, Paul tells us the reason women should not teach or have authority over men is because they are more vulnerable to demonic deception - especially if they defy the Divine order that God put in place. By defying God's order they are actually placing themselves (and the church) under spiritual attack. "because of the angels". Remember satan can appear as an angel of light.

It is true that men can also be deceived - many are. That is not the point! If God sets the Divine order, we do well to pay close attention to it - whether we understand it or not. Just because some men are deceived is no reason to say that women should take over the lead.

Women wreak havoc when they talk too much. Really. I have 5 sisters, and 6 nieces, and 13 female cousins. If we aren't stopped before we get started, the men of the family make a mad dash for somewhere sensible.

Seriously, I don't see what is so offensive to women about being told to hush as far as church is concerned. Regardless of what that passage actually means, I think women ought to zip it and show respect at church.

I'm having a problem of sorts with 1 Corinth 14:34-35 which basically states that we gals ought to keep our mouths shut:

"As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church"

I am interested in the opinions of those CC members who believe in the inerrancy of the Bible (and those who don't)...what's your "take" on the above?
I think women have as much right to speak as men.

I love how poeple take scriptures out of context to try to prove their opinion. When Paul said women are to be silent in church, he was adressing the Corinthian church, because in was a problem in that church. I say again.. to say that God can not speak through a woman is lie and im gonna rebuke that every time i hear it

Jesus told us to be just. Is it just to tell women they can’t speak in church?

No that is not just...you also gotta consider that back in that time period, women were were considered property.. We have come along way since then. What if a woman had a word from God that would bless or help deliver somebody. but the men of the church wouldnt let her speak? Guess who's gonna be held acountable when they stand before God?

Justice is self-evident. If it is okay for you to speak in church, it is okay for your wife to speak in church.
So what it means to be Just exists independently of what God demands?

I cant answer a question in a thread like this! Its all over the page. For example the issue
isnt just simply talking. So when i answer i end up saying to some more than im saying.

The issue to me is the way God ordained it, and told us in scriptures how to perform it.
Ive already read that the word isnt important any longer.

Not good to fanagle...that was the method in the garden. "Be just" thats funny. Can you
imagine how much of the bible i could destroy with that method?

It is a fallacy to believe that women were property in NT times. You only have to read through the book of Acts to see that there were "prominent Greek women" . These prominent women were authoritative and were very vocal. Much like the feminist movement of today. Some of these were causing disruption in the churches by seeking to gain authority over men. This is why Paul had to write to tell these women how they should behave in fellowship. He had to tell them NOT to usurp authority over men.

Dude...do you think that your hypothetical questions are that solid.? For instance Does the Holyspirit
have any intelligence? Does God know where history is headed? Did He forget to anticipate that when
He inspired the Written word? The word He magnified above all His name.

Is this hypothetical woman receiving a word from God thats inept and forgetful of His own ways?
The accountability threat is just wrong dude. Not following His word will be the accountable. Do you think
God is capable to have the need of the person brought to bare...and the help of the hypothetical woman
come togather at the right time and the right place?

Dude

you are taking things way out of context. No-one has said this. When Paul says that a woman should remain silent, it is in the context of seeking authority over men and seeking to teach men.

Paul and God are two different people. Paul demanded women be silent in church. I don’t think God meant for Paul to say that.

Sadly we are at a place in history that people think the Holyspirit is a tool or a source of power at our disposal
or at our level of faith. Sorry folks the Holyspirit is God. Leave the confines of His written word and you on your own.
Even if you believe that your manifestations are from Him. Then remember He does them severally as "He" wills.1Cor12:11
And He said this before He told the woman to keep silent: God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in ALL
THE CHURCHES
OF THE SAINTS.

So that wrecks the particular corinth problem theory. The folks with the problem with these verse are the ones
that wont hold to it. And they strangely are the ones who love to say also that God doesnt change when defending
other issues they defend. But then say in this instance He does change ....and give you that God/box cliche

Wow wont be chatting with you anymore...it would be like holding water in my hand.
You have no more credibility to discuss the bible.
