I'm an Adventist, carrying on the Protestant Reformation, as did the classical Reformers. Proclaiming with a "Loud voice" "Come out of her, my people." per Revelation 14:7-12
7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. ( per Commandments # 1- # 4 -The Sabbath )
8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, ( the Roman Vatican Church ) because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. ( Her False Doctrines )
9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, ( The MOTB = Sunday observance legislation / civil law) USA legislation, contrary to God's Commandments.)
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
11 And the smoke of their torment ascends up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.

Sort of, yes, I was kidding and thank you for offering the good eye. I was just making the point, albeit in such a roundabout way, that nobody will know who the beast is or what his mark is until he is revealed by the brightness of the Lord's coming.Yes I'm sure... ( You were kidding, right ? )
I will say, however, that I have received, almost exactly 32 years ago, a mark of a cross, on my right hand. It looked either like an 'x' or 't', the Alef and Tau, the first and the last letters of the Hebrew alphabet, within a circle, or the samech, which is the symbol of a shield. And this has always caused me wonder if I am, indeed, of the 144K.
REV 13 has lots of information about the beast
Let the identifying marks point out who the beast is.
A. It rises from the sea (verse 1).
B. It is the composite of the four beasts in Daniel chapter 7 (verse 2).
C. The dragon gives it power and authority (verse 2).
D. It receives a deadly wound (verse 3).
E. Its deadly wound is healed (verse 3).
F. It is a strong political power (verses 3, 7).
G. It is a strong religious power (verses 3, 8).
H. It is guilty of blasphemy (verses 1, 5, 6).
I. It wars with and overcomes the saints (verse 7).
J. It rules for 42 months (verse 5).
K. It has a mysterious number 666 (verse 18).
One power in the world fits with all of these perfectly but people won't believe it.

I too, hope and pray to be amongst the 144K .. and I'm fairly certain that, the qualifying characteristics will be spiritual, rather than physical, as the MOTB will be a spiritual matter of worship, rather than a physical "mark" placed on the forehead, or on the hand". The "mark" will be who we worship, ( in our forehead ) our conscious mind, or who we show allegiance to by our actions ( by our hand ).
Rev 14:5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault ( no sin = Commandment Keepers ) before the throne of God.
Rev. 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith OF Jesus.
There are only two "spirits" in the world .. The Father wanting our obedience & worship, and Satan, wanting our obedience & worship. ( This WAR as been going on since "The Fall" and is escalating, especially now, with the killing of Charlie Kirk ) sides are being drawn up NOW... for civil / spiritual WAR. = Very Interesting times we live in.
The obedience of Able & the disobedience of Cain, was the first mention of these two spirits. That of the Holy Spirit, The Righteousness of Christ, OR the spirit of Antichrist, the Papacy... This is what the classical Protest Reformers, came to believed by studying Bible Prophecy, and which I agree with, by my coming to know Jesus.
Concerning your "not knowing who the Beast" is ... That is the why & how of Jesus giving us the Prophecies in the Book of Daniel, so that we WOULD KNOW, who these players are in the world THEN & NOW, and Daniel gives us the KEY to understanding the Book of Revelation.
Read Matt 24
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations; and then shall the end come.
15 When you therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoever reads, let him understand
16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
As is Bible Prophecy's custom & character .. this prophecy is "Two Fold" pertinent to the times and situation then, just before the destruction of Jerusalem AND the current and coming destruction, coming upon the world NOW.

Read the Book o Daniel, ( the metal man, explains "beast powers" ) as Jesus suggested, to understand Matt 24 & Revelations, which is what the Classical Reformers did, to understand prophecy of THEN & NOW.. The reformers were actually in Babylon ( The Vatican, The Roman Church) and came out of her, dying for their Faith in the process. ( You KNOW that they we adamant in there beliefs,
... They Were Faithful to GOD !
Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.
I didn't say it was the Roman Empire.
It is called the Roman catholic church.
Roman because it came out of the Roman pagan empire. And rules as the RCC. A RELIGIOUS, POLITICAL empire.
The sea beast.
Revelation 17:8
The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and go to destruction.
And those who dwell on the earth, whose name has not been written in the book of life from
the foundation of the world, will wonder when they see the beast, that he was and is not and will come.
The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss.
The RCC was and is not the RCC but is about to come up out of the abyss?
That's confusing.
Maybe the next verse will help.
Rev 17:9 KJV - 9 And here [is] the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
The seven official hills of Rome are: Aventine, Campidoglio, Celio, Esquilino, Palatino, Quirinale, and Viminale.
Revelation 17:18
The woman whom you saw is the great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth.
Well, the Harlot is Rome in the book of Revelation.
But the Harlot is riding the Sea Beast.
The Sea Beast, "The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss."
The Beast hates the Harlot.

The book of Revelation says.
Revelation 13:17
And he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark,
either the name of the beast or the number of his name.
You also said.
J. It rules for 42 months (verse 5).
The Sea Beast does rule for 42 months.
The Sea Beast, "The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss."
So what or who was the Beast in the past but is not present now. But will come up again?
The period of time the Harlot rules is not given and the Harlot is a city (Rome).
The Harlot is a city but the Sea Beast hates the Harlot.
So the Sea Beast and the Harlot are different from one another.

In prophecy a woman represents a church:
Jer 6:2 KJV - 2 I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate [woman].
There are two women in Revelation:
The church of Christ -- Rev 19:7-8 KJV - 7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. 8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
The harlot -- Rev 17:3-6 KJV - 3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: 5 And upon her forehead [was] a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.
A beast represents a political power. Here are some prophetic examples:
Dan 7:3-7 KJV - 3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. 4 The first [was] like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it. 5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and [it had] three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh. 6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it. 7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it [was] diverse from all the beasts that [were] before it; and it had ten horns.
Water represents masses of people, sort of like Europe:
Rev 17:1 KJV - 1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:
Revelation 17:16
And the ten horns which you saw, and the beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her desolate
42 months in prophesy is 1260 years
A day for a year principle is applied to prophesy.
Its foundation is in Old Testament passages, such as Numbers 14:34 and Ezekiel 4:6, where God explicitly states this symbolic correspondence.
42 MONTHS and 1260 days and a time, times and half a time are all the same amount of time.
Everyone knows that the 70 week prophesy is about 490 years not days.
