Halloween bad or good?

My mother always rants every Halloween that it's a demonic holiday and that it's the devil's birthday and that it's against christianity.
But is it true? Honestly, I don't think it's Satan's birthday but I could be wrong. I just don't know. I'm going this year but I feel sorta guilty, like I'm doing a bad thing by celebrating this holiday. Halloween is my favorite holiday; I'm like a little kid on christmas when halloween comes. Not to mention, I'm gothic so that's the only time when I can shop for items I like for my room.
But now that I'm older, I'm really thinking about what my mother said...Is Halloween an evil holiday?

Your mother is right to a extent but no christian should part take in wordly events, especially halloween that should ring bells because of the theme, people dress as witches, wizards, vampires etc you really should'nt, hope you listen to yourconscious and decide to stay home this halloween ;)

IMO, and most conservatives, it's not the devils birthday, but rather a day celebrated by real witches and other people who claim to practice the craft. Due to not being apart of the world, I'm sure Christians can do something better than celebrate. Passing out tracts w/ candy is acceptable, but having your own children dress up and get directly involved is pretty far out of scope. We are to be separate from the world, but the post-modern church seems to think we should be even more cooler and sometimes more sinful than it.

If you are Goth; then you will have a strong attraction to occasions like Halloween;though they have different origins; the source is the same.

You know? I LOVE Holloween as well...maybe more than Christmas. And actually the Christmas day we celebrate started out as a pagan holiday to celebrate one of their gods. Jesus wasn't even born in the winter. A bunch of Christians just decided to turn it into what it is now.

As for what you should do, go with your gut. : ] I'm going out to spooky events AND dressing up AND...wait for it...love Jesus all the while. I don't feel convicted not to, but I have some friends who do believe it's a bad thing. Will having fun on Holloween make you feel like you're doing a bad thing? Then don't do it. If not, go for it.

To me this worry over holidays is silly. It reminds me of in the bible where it even said food sacrifice to idols was still ok for Christians to eat, i see holidays in the same way. I can see pulling away from the fear/evil aspect of it such as not dressing up as witches, killers, and the like. And maybe even avoiding 'haunted houses' and those types of attractions. But dressing up, and trick or treating.. finding other ways to have fun that don't dwell on the evil/fear aspect of halloween that the world emphasizes should be ok. People love to criticize the 'pagan' aspects of holidays, but no one can even pinpoint the exact sin or proof of any negative repercussions of it.

I, personally, hate halloween because it truly is a day of satan worship and is considered a satanists high holy day. I do not judge anyone who celebrates it and do not think for a minute that celebrating it will send anyone to hell. I just take it as a day to send good out into the world because I know that many are worshiping satan and sending bad out into the world on that day, more so than other days. I have spoken to christians who feel that satanic worship is not prevalent at all and since they are not celebrating it as a satanic holiday then they are fine. To this I say do your background research on satanic worship and I believe you will be very surprised at just how prevalent it is, even right here in the US. I am not raising a child, but I do believe if I was then I would take them to a church, "Fall Festival," or something of that nature so that they would not feel like they are missing out on, "the fun." I would not allow them to dress up as anything even remotely related to horror or satanism. As a christian, if you take the time to truly look into the day and what it is really all about and what satanists are REALLY doing on that day...I believe you would think twice about it, too. It's a SECULAR holiday. Christians celebrate the 4th of July (in the USA), Thanksgiving and New Years, and unless I'm missing something, those aren't evil.

It's just a custom. just like Grey posted, ''don't overthink it''. Do some research what 'christmas' was like before Christianity.

It's not about our customs or our learned habits, it's about our relationship with Him.
