We are already in Greenland with a military base. To my knowledge Greenland does not have an army anymore than Hempstead, NY has an army. People throwing around terms like this are clueless. No war, no army, simply a handshake agreement in some backroom.
No, it is a standard reply, all options are on the table. Stupid questions deserve vague answers. Why would he lay out what he is and is not willing to do?
What is far more likely than Denmark going to war with the US over Greenland is the US threatening to withdraw from NATO when they are terrified of Russia.

Pfft.. anyone play chess? Then you see what's been going on since Jan 2025. The place has what 54000 people.. so force take was never on the table. Man, to many people watch news and just run with what's said. What can you say... hmm you hear things.. I'm not talking you heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who.. you get it. Lol so to be very cryptic.. there is so much going on that is no where in the news and it wont ever be. Just what two or three months go "this is scary" and then tell you only what they can.

What Mr Trump has acheived is to destroy relationships to the allies of US, to mock Europeans, to try to steal Greenland from Denmark and a whole lot of dirty things.
Of course NATO have troops in Greenland as everywhere else in NATO-land. What else had you expected ?

Good point, you guys can defend yourselves from Russia, you don't need the US and I think many in the US agree with you. To be honest I think many of us look at Europe and wonder if it would really be so bad if they were under Russian rule? 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. If the US were attacked by Russia and China, would Norway come to our defense? I highly doubt it, NATO is a relationship that is one sided. I can see that Denmark was a powerful country back in the 1700s when they first began to colonize Greenland. But not anymore, the days of them being a powerful king that needs to be kind, those days are gone. So I naturally assumed you were joking when you shared that.
If that wasn't a joke what was your point? Are you saying China which has wanted Greenland would be a more kind king than the US? You see, that is why I look at this whole NATO and wonder if it is really in the best interests of the US to continue with that alliance.
My information is that the personnel sent to Greenland are there to set up logistics for those who will be coming shortly. Standard procedure, no big deal.
Nothing has been concealed about America's base in Greenland. I'm in Australia and I knew about it. Greenlanders have already made their position clear. They want to be left alone.
"Calmly and diplomatically"? You expect that from Mr Trump? I worked for someone like him. He delighted in stirring everyone up and setting workers against each other. I liked the job so I put my head down and tried to stay out of trouble. It was not easy.
That it was deliberate became obvious. I got in trouble more than once. Then I was offered the opportunity to set up a branch office in New Zealand. I was sent over to check out if it was feasible or not. The market was too small. But it proved that the boss was mostly bluffing. As another manager said to me, "I shake the trees to see who falls off". That time I was one of the victims.
Now it seems that there is a sensible solution to the Greenland issue. All the drama was unnecessary.
Diplomatic? Threatening to invade is not diplomacy. It's called bullying and blackmail where I come from. It's Mao's method, "Political power comes from the barrel of a gun".
Are you clueless, the only imperial power today with colonies is Denmark. Greenland is a colony of Denmark ever since the 1700s. So complaining about the US wanting it is simply the kettle calling the pot black.
No one is planning on invading Greenland, it has the population of a small city, a very small city. Right now Greenland does not have an army, that function is carried out by NATO and that is how it will stay the same. And yes, there is plenty of reason to view Greenland as an extremely strategic location during war time, and right now, it is war time.
