We understand Jesus' teaching in light of the Jewish context in which he spoke. He is a Jewish man speaking to a Jewish audience. about his role in God's plan for salvation.

Paul introduced the Gentiles to grace and Salvation in Jesus Christ and in his arguments, he argued that Gentiles did not need to keep Moses, which includes the Ten Commandments. We are justified by grace through faith apart from the law.
I am pretty sure Jesus doesn't want anyone to sin and be in fear of Judgement by breaking His commandments.

Mat 5:19Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven

Luke 6: 46“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?
47Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like
48He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock
49But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”

Thats what is going to be a great fall according to Jesus who is God thinking His teachings were not for us but "other people"

So believe you and not Jesus our LORD and Savior, thank you but no thanks.

Jesus taught this quoting OLD TESTAMENT

Mat 4:4 But He answered and said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

Which includes these Words directly spoken by God. Don't let anyone cheat us by teachings of man and not of Christ Col2:8

Mark 2:27 And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. 28 Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”

Original Word: ἄνθρωπος
Part of Speech: Noun, Masculine
Transliteration: anthrópos
Pronunciation: AN-thro-pos
Phonetic Spelling: (anth'-ro-pos)
KJV: certain, man
NASB: man, men, people, man's, human, mankind
Word Origin: [from G435 (ἀνήρ - man) and ops "the countenance" (from G3700 (ὀπτάνομαι - appearing))

So unless one is not human according to Jesus who is God, the Sabbath was made for us.

No wonder why Jesus invited everyone to serve the LORD and join ourselves to Him

Isa 56:1 Thus saith the LORD
Isa 56:6 “Also the sons of the foreigner
Who join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him,
And to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants
Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And holds fast My covenant—

He won't force us though, but I wouldn't want to miss out.

Isa66:23 And it shall come to pass
That from one New Moon to another,
And from one Sabbath to another,
All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord.
When Jesus says that the Sabbath was made for man, he is speaking in a context where it was already established that Sabbath observance was uniquely Israeli. God has ordained the Sabbath as a sign of the Mt. Sinai Covenant. Gentiles were never included in the Sinai Covenant.

Shew ! What a bunch of none sense !!
It's nonsense. Not none sense. We can have no sense, and say nonsense, but but no one can have none sense. That's nonsense.

You really don't know what you are talking about...
I'm not talking about anything, but only asking sabbath-commanders about their congregational practice of their sabbath. So far, none are willing to answer at all, much less honestly.

Why should anyone listen to sabbath preaching from a bunch of breakers and profaners of their own sabbaths, much less ever want to join their congregational hypocrisy?

AND !! I'm NOT going to argue with you, because I've realized it useless ..
There is no argument, but only a straight question. Until one of you sabbath commanders answer for your congregational practice, then it's foolish to hear any other blather about your phony play-sabbath.

When Jesus says that the Sabbath was made for man, he is speaking in a context where it was already established that Sabbath observance was uniquely Israeli. God has ordained the Sabbath as a sign of the Mt. Sinai Covenant. Gentiles were never included in the Sinai Covenant.
So do not believe Him at His word and use your words instead? This is where people go wrong. Jesus knows the difference between man and Jew and used the word for mankind in Greek and Adam in Hebrew when the Sabbath started Exo20:11 before Jew, before Israel, before Moses, just man and God. No wonder why He invited everyone to join themselves to Him and serve Him and keep the Sabbath Isa56:6

Yes, Judgment is based on what God says/wills, and He wills everyone to accept the Gospel (Rom. 1:16-17, 1Tim. 2:3-4) and interpret the OC in light of the NT revelation (Heb. 7:11-10:1).

In John 12:48, the word that judges is what Jesus taught regarding GRFS in the rest of John:

John 3:1-15. Jesus told a Pharisee named Nicodemus that he must be born again to see the kingdom of God, which Nick took to mean being reborn physically, but Jesus guided him to understand spiritually by saying that a person must not only be born of water (amniotic fluid) but also of the Spirit. Procreation yields a physical person, but the Spirit creates a spiritual child of God.

When Nick asked how spiritual rebirth is possible, Jesus replied that he, the Son of Man (Messiah), testifies to what he has seen in heaven, and then he shared that rebirth occurs when a person believes in him as God’s Savior whose death atones for humanity’s sins (cf. Num. 21:9, Isa. 53:3-12, 61:1-8).

John 3:14-21. Jesus said that the reason God sent His only Son/the Son of Man/Messiah to be crucified/lifted up was because He loved everyone in the world and wanted to to provide salvation/eternal life in heaven to everyone/whoever believes in him. Thus, everyone who believes in him as Messiah/God the Son shall not die permanently but be resurrected to heaven.

However, everyone who rejects God’s provision/grace/Son is self-condemned, because they chose to love darkness/evil rather than God’s Light/Truth/Word. Evildoers hate divine light, because it exposes their evil deeds that they love, but those who love the Lord desire for His love to be reflected by what they do.

John 5:16-30. The Jews persecuted Jesus because he disobeyed Sabbath Law by healing the crippled man. Jesus said His heavenly Father works every day and so he is also working, which made the Jews want to kill him for making himself deity by calling God his Father. These two offenses are combined when Jesus said the Son of Man (himself) is Lord of the Sabbath (Matt. 12:8, Mark 2:28, Luke 6:5). Saying the Father works every day contradicted the Sabbath Law (Exo. 20:8-11), which was based on the statement (in Gen. 2:2-3) that God rested on the seventh day after completing His creation.

Jesus continued by saying that whoever hears and believes the Son’s message and God crosses from death and condemnation to eternal life (again echoing John 3:16), because the Father is the source/giver of life (Gen. 2:7, Acts 17:25) and grants the Son life-giving power and authority to judge because he is the Son of Man (John 5:22, 8:15-16, Acts 10:42, cf. Heb. 9:27-28).

John 6:28-64. The people asked Jesus, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus replied, “The work of God is to believe in the one he has sent.”

And so forth...

Jam. 2:10 is in the same vein as Rom. 3:23: All are sinners. Disobeying the Sabbath law is not in the list of moral sins that are cited.

Aren't you going to be surprised when the Ark is opened in heaven and it contains the Gospel!
May I suggest you change your title to "GospelBlessing"?
I find it amazing that Ellen White's disciples never confront the LACK OF NT EVIDENCE that the Apostles (who were Jesus ambassadors trained by Messiah Himself and appointed to carry His message of salvation to the world NEVER listed Keeping Shabbat as necessary for obtaining righteousness. Since a large number of their converts were GENTILES I would have expected the Apostles to teach, warn and exhort them to be careful and "keep Shabbat" However, they never did. This reveals a gaping hole or inconsistency in their theology particularly if neglecting Shabbat was is MORAL SIN on par with other moral sins like sexual immorality and idolatry. They did not shrink back from exposing the spiritual danger of living in unrepentant sin.

In the matter of circumcision which was MANDATORY under the Abrahamic as well as the Mosaic covenant, the Apostle said this:
2Take notice: I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. 3 Again I testify to every man who gets himself circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. 4You who are trying to be justified by the law have been severed from Christ; you have fallen away from grace (Galatians 5:2-4)

Those who are attempting to be righteous through adherence to the Law is obligated to keep the whole law. Circumcision at one time was essential for everyone who wanted to enter into covenant with God. Ellen White's disciples disregard THIS COMMAND and instead try to made the main issue keeping Shabbat. I can see why an aspiring cult leader would want to de-emphasize circumcision which would not draw many people. It is easier to demand that prospective disciples simply rest on Shabbat.

This is particularly important since we are told that once God issues a command He can neither, withdraw, alter, or abolish it. If God's law can never be altered (not even by God Himself) then He is no more sovereign than the Medo-Persian kings who were bound by their own decrees which, once issued, could never be withdrawn or altered. The difference between those kings and God is that God does not change His will arbitrarily. However, God alters His decrees when He forms a New Covenant with people

The New Covenant is superior to the old in that it was is paid for by a higher price (the blood of the Lamb) and based on a higher level of authority (that of the Son) and power (that of the Holy Spirit). Even the marriage covenant which was meant to be permanent can be either broken either illegitimately by adultery or naturally by the death of one spouse. So the New Covenant, God has made with us, supersedes all prior covenants.

The NEW COVENANT has its own laws just as the former covenant did but these are not exactly the same. Though the different sets of laws are aimed at producing the same general results we get there through entirely different means. Under the NC when the Son tells His followers to keep HIS COMMANDMENTS he is not just talking about Moses commands. He was talking about the COMMANDS He Himself gave. Obeying Jesus commands requires a inward change which can only be accomplished through the power Christ supplies to us via the Holy Spirit. The word says "Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh." It does not say, "If you try very hard not to fulfill the lusts of the flesh, you will (automatically) walk in the Spirit."

I am pretty sure Jesus doesn't want anyone to sin and be in fear of Judgement by breaking His commandments.
I agree that Jesus wouldn't want anyone to sin, whether Jew or Gentile. But that isn't the point you raise. You are saying that the entire world is under obligation to keep the Sabbath Day because it is included in the Ten Commandments.

Mat 5:19Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven
In this context, the Sermon on the Mount is a commentary on the entire law of Moses, not just the Ten Commandments. Therefore, if someone argues that we need to keep the Sabbath based on what Jesus said here, it would absurdly suggest that Jesus expects Gentiles to follow the Law of Moses.

Nonetheless, a quick review of the Sermon reveals the true purpose and meaning of Jesus's statement. He criticizes his culture for, on one hand, preaching obedience to the Law, and on the other hand, nullifying the Law with tradition. Matthew 5:19 applies to the Pharisees of Jesus' day.

In this context, Jesus gives them a few parables, then he talks about the crowd's response to them. He is talking about his sayings, not the Ten Commandments.

Whose commandments are the Ten Commandments- Moses or God?

Scripture could not be more clear one this matter, as if God wrote them Himself and called them "My commandments" and He did. If God can't tell us what are His commandments and who they belong to, what are we telling God?

I find it perplexing that so many people relate the Ten Commandments as the law of Moses when the Law itself has nothing to do with Moses, but has everything to do with our relationship with God. God’s name (not Moses) is in each one of these commandments and He takes ownership of them not just in the words itself, but He did not leave His holy and eternal Law to be written by man, God divinely wrote them Himself, not just once but twice. He wrote them in stone for its eternal nature and then He writes His laws in our heart 2Cor3:3 Heb 8:10 The first 4 commandments show how to love God and the last 6 how we love our neighbor. They cover so much more than people realize Psa 119:96 just as Jesus taught from this same unit Mat 5:19-30

Exo 20:1 And God spoke all these words, saying:
2 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of [a]bondage.
3 “You shall have no other gods before Me.
4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor [b]serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting[c] the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

I personally do not see how Scripture could be clearer about whose Law is the Ten Commandments and Moses the creation and servant of God, is not God the Creator of everything Exo 20:11. Moses own testimony said the Ten Commandments is God’s work not his, so why do so many insist it’s the law of Moses so we no longer need to keep them when there is not one Scripture in context that says this.

Deu 4:13 So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.

Deu 5:22 "These words the LORD spoke to all your assembly, in the mountain from the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a loud voice; and He added no more. And He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.

Exo 31:18 And when He had made an end of speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.

Exo 32:16 Now the tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God engraved on the tablets.

Exo 34:28 So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

Exo20:6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Jesus is the Great I AM speaking His commandments, written personally by the Holy Spirit of Truth. John8:48

So is your words Scripture? Can you actually quote the points you are trying to making from Scripture and not just because you say so.

The Ten Commandments is the commandments of God Exo20:6 written by God spoken by God- His will Psa40:8 and Testimony Exo31:18 and no Scripture in the entire Bible says we can freely break God's commandments in OT or NT it is a constant theme not to. They are kept until the very end by God's faithful Rev14:12 Rev22:14NKJV the Sabbath specifically invited for everyone by God to join themselves to the LORD and serve Him Isa56:6 whoever we obey is who we serve Rom6:16KJV

So do not believe Him at His word , , ,
My argument is not with Jesus; my argument is with a misinterpretation of what Jesus said.
and use your words instead? This is where people go wrong. I agree. The Sabbath existed before God gave Moses the Commandment to rest on the Seventh day. But your point is not that we Gentiles must keep the Sabbath because it predates Moses; rather, that we must keep the Sabbath because it is listed among the Ten Commandments. Since Keeping the Sabbath day Holy is part of the Ten Commandments, we Gentiles are not necessarily obligated to obey that one.

You can't pluck one of the Ten Commandments and say well this one is not for me, but the others are, that puts one in place of God. Its telling God He made a mistake on His Law He atones for the one that came with the power of His Blessings Exo20:11 and Sanctification Gen2:3 that He Blesses the man who keeps it Isa56:2 and sanctifies us Eze20:12 because man can't do this themselves. Isa66:17 Tearing down what Jesus said was made for man, not Jew on His Authority of what He is LORD of does not tear it down, it just makes someone else our lord. He invited everyone Isa56:6 its not that He wasn't clear, its the same issue as those who came before us on this exact issue that didn't turn out so well Heb3:7-19 Exo20:13 Exe20:15-16 no wonder why we are told not to follow in that same example of disobedience Heb4:11 but God does allow us free will. I don't think people truly understand what they are giving up.

There is no point in trying to reason with sabbathb as there is no convenient way to post scripture or point out error in the SDA doctrine without her refuting scripture as presented in the actual Bible and adjoining it with Old Testament prophecies that do not apply to anyone but the Jews and creating an amalgam of words that deny the actual gospel through the use of false SDA teaching and the threat of hell and damnation unless you go to church on Saturday, which, means you would have to join the SDA or perhaps find a Messianic congregation .... the latter actually believing the gospel as presented in scripture ...and the former considered a cult by experts who identify such things.

As that is the case, I think it best to just let her rail and rant and accuse me of being the devil, as she has done twice now, so with that in mind, I am going to dismiss her comments as I am sure the Holy Spirit has directed me to do more than once. I appreciate anyone who does try to reason with her; God knows I have tried but today and yesterday she is calling me the accuser of the brethern so in her lack of rationale and with a strong desire to shut me up, she falls on the evil of actually doing what she says I have done when all I have done is post scripture that denies the false teaching of SDA.

As that is the case, I would like to extend a thanks to the forum creator who in his foresight thought it beneficial to provide us with an ignore button.

All this Attacking of SDAs and E White.?

Is that because you don't want to discuss the bible ?
This is meant to be a Bible discussion.

Let's discuss the 10 commandments and the reasons we should or shouldn't obey them today.
No one is attacking any people in here. Quit playing your victim card. What’s being attacked is false doctrine and false prophecy. And yes both of those things have a lot to do with the Bible.

But if you would rather just discuss how we are no longer under the law, that’s fine too.

This thread has nothing to do with the ten commandments. This entire thread is a sales pitch for one commandment, the sabbath. The mosaic law is 613+ laws, not just 10. If we were still under that law we would have to follow all, not just 10. James says if you break one you have broken them all. That means if you wear the wrong clothing you have broken all of the ten commandments. We are not under the Saturday sabbath anymore. If we were it would have been mentioned in Acts 15. Also Paul wouldn’t have told people to not let another judge you over it.

There have been over 5000 posts here with legalists arguing that they are still in the old covenant when in fact they were never in it to begin with. Gentiles were never under the law unless they convert to Judaism. Gentiles were never given a command to keep the sabbath. Besides the sabbath is no longer a day of the week. The sabbath is Christ who gave His life to get you out of the very thing you’re trying to go back to. Wake up. A calendar day can’t save you. A calendar day can’t give you rest. It’s like you graduated college but you still insist on paying for the tutor.

The truth is that if you broke the Sabbath you were to be put to death. Exodua 35:2

How many times was Jesus accused of that very thing and ultimately they did try to kill Him but he gave up His life.

The conclusion of these false teachers is that if we go to church on Sunday we are celebrating the mark of the beast. So we had better hurry up and join the SDA.

The further we get from the cross in time, the worse the attacks against the gospel are getting. Well you know, Maranatha, come Lord Jesus come is the cure for all of it. And of course we can also read Galatians about once a week. :giggle:

.Maybe I should make a list for who is on ignore? But then again I would not know since they are on ignore.:unsure::whistle:

Whose commandments are the Ten Commandments- Moses or God?
Both. Moses delivered the Ten Commandments to Israel at Mt Sinai.
Scripture could not be more clear one this matter, as if God wrote them Himself and called them "My commandments" and He did.
The fact that the Ten Commandments came from God is indisputable. The claim that the Ten Commandments apply to the Gentiles is in question.
I find it perplexing that so many people relate the Ten Commandments as the law of Moses when the Law itself has nothing to do with Moses, but has everything to do with our relationship with God.
If we can't agree on our conclusions, at least let's agree on the facts. To say that the Law had nothing to do with Moses is contradicted by the Exodus account.

God’s name (not Moses) is in each one of these commandments and He takes ownership of them not just in the words itself, but He did not leave His holy and eternal Law to be written by man, God divinely wrote them Himself, not just once but twice.
No one is claiming that Moses wrote the Ten Commandments. The claim under examination is whether the Ten Commandments are universally obligatory among all human beings or obligatory only to those under the Mt. Sinai Covenant.

2 Corinthians 3:3
Here, Paul did not assert that the Ten Commandments were written on the hearts of his readers. Metaphorically speaking, Paul himself is written on the hearts of his readers as if a letter of recommendation.

Hebrews 8:10
This refers to the Houses of Judah and Israel, not the Gentile people.

The laws of one land are not necessarily obligatory on those living in another land. Thus, the laws God gave to Israel are not obligatory on the rest of humanity.
Jesus is the Great I AM speaking His commandments, written personally by the Holy Spirit of Truth. John8:48
Jesus was speaking into a culture that substituted Rabbinical traditions for the Laws of God. In this context, Jesus was defending his teaching style as against the teaching style of the Rabbis. Jesus spoke with his own authority from the scriptures, whereas the Rabbis relied on precedent law.

Bottom line, John 8:48-53 says nothing about Gentile obligations.

You were asked what is the new covenant. You answer starts with “it is still”. You’re saying it’s not new. Just the same old covenant?
The answer you are looking for is in Jeremiah and also in Ezekiel. Paul speaks about the same thing when he quotes Jeremiah in Hebrews 8:8–12. It is important to understand this well, so take time with these verses and ask if anything is unclear.

“Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers… But this is the covenant that I will make… I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” (Jeremiah 31:31–33, ASV)

Ezekiel 36:26–27
"A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes..."

Ezekiel 11:19–20
"And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh: That they may walk in my statutes..."
An earlier version of the same promise Ezekiel later expands in chapter 36.

Deuteronomy 30:6
"And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live."
Moses foretells the same inner renewal — the heart being transformed so that obedience flows naturally from love.

So yes, it is still the same law, but now made new, because we are given access to the Holy Spirit. These verses show that God does not remove His law, but writes it inside the heart, and gives His Spirit to help us walk in it.

Many are not in a covenant with God and don't even realize it because they refuse to subject themselves to the law of God Rom8:7-8. God placed His laws in the heart and mind of the New Covenant believers, He won't force them though, we have to allow God to be our Master and serve Him Rom6:16KJV Isa56:6. We enter this covenant by faith Heb4:2 faith establishes the law not voids it Rom3:31 why Jesus said even our worship to Him is in vain when we lay aside the commandment of God quoting directly from the Ten that our heart is far from Him, because we rejected His law in our hearts Mat15:3-14 Mark7:7-13. We need to start listening to Jesus who taught not to break or teach others to break the least of these commandments quoting directly from the Ten Commandments Mat5:19-30 the law He came to magnify in our hearts Isa42:21 right where sin begins, relating lust with the commandment to not commit adultery, anger with the commandment to not commit murder and in breaking the least of these commandments we will be subject to sin and judgement- wrong path! We need to enter God's covenant of faith, have our Fathers laws written in our hearts and minds and be His servant Isa56:6 Rev7:3 because this is the covenant where He remembers are sins no more. Heb8:10-12
I think some don't know or understand Paul in Hebrews 8 it quoting Jeremiah 31
