I think you're misunderstanding the argument. We should devote ourselves to God 365/24/7 but many people misunderstand worship from devotion. Jesus related worship to obedience to the commandments of God quoting directly from the Ten Commandments Mat15:3-14 Mark7:7-13.

The Sabbath is about resting from our works and labors and keeping the entire day holy by focusing on God. Exo20:8-11 Isa58:13 God does not want us stressed out and working 24/7 - its impossible to take a Sabbath 7 days a week one because God only said the Sabbath is on the seventh day Exo20:10 this is God from heaven, coming down and personally writing out these words, not Moses. Exo31:18 Exo32:16

To say this doesn't matter the day I believe we will all have to be accountable to God because its what He said both spoken and written. Exo31:11 Deut4:13 It mattered enough to God that it left an entire generation out of their promised land/rest their inheritance that God told them He would give them on the condition of loving Him with all their heart mind and soul Deut6:3-5 which that included keeping the Sabbath because they didn't keep the Sabbath and that was the reason God said they could not receive their promised land full of milk and honey, God said this plainly Eze20:15-16 and than tells us in the NT not to follow in their same example of disobedience. Heb4:11. Jesus said the greatest commandments to love God with all our heart mind and soul and love neighbor there are no greater commandments than these and they are imbedded in OT what Jesus was quoting and it included the 4th commandment- the one God said Remember, that most of the world has forgotten.

I believing keeping the Sabbath is more than just a day, its a test of loyalty. God said Remember to keep the Sabbath day holy because its tied personally to God- He as being our Creator Exo20:11 our -Re-Creator Eze20:12- the only God we are ever called to worship why its part of the everlasting gospel Rev14:6-7 a sign between God and His people Eze20:20 the only God who has the power to Bless a day Exo20:11 and Bless mankind Isa56:2 and sanctify a day Gen2:3 and sanctify mankind Eze20:12 because we can't do this ourselves Isa66:17 we would literally have to do the opposite of what Jesus said man should live by Mat4:4 to come to the conclusion God doesn't care if we don't keep the only day He said is the holy day of the LORD Isa58:13 there is no other- just sadly a counterfeit Dan7:25

We will all have to decide which voice we listen to. Jesus is LORD of the Sabbath day, meaning someone else is lording Sunday. Sunday came from Pegan roots from sun worship that turned into Sunday worship- what God called the greatest abomination Eze 8:15-17. The Sabbath came from God directly, God only named the Sabbath day, the others were simply day 1, day two etc. and He kept the Sabbath day Luke4:16 made it for mankind Mark2:27 to serve Isa56:6 and join ourselves to the LORD Isa56:6 Isa58:13

The apostles taught we ought to obey God over man. The followed Jesus Acts 17:2 Acts 18:4 Acts 13:42 Acts 13:44.

In the New Heaven and New Earth there will still be an assembly on the Sabbath for worship. God does not change, but I can't help but wonder if we are so opposed to worshipping the LORD and keeping the Sabbath day holy now, would one be happy in heaven? God would never force anyone to worship Him, if that were the case we would be robots and there would have never been sin in the first place. It has to come from a changed heart and love. I wouldn't want to miss this because I ended up following the popular path of what everyone else is doing instead of living by what God said. Mat4:4

Heb 12:22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect

Isa66:22“For as the new heavens and the new earth
Which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the Lord
,
“So shall your descendants and your name remain.
23;And it shall come to pass
That from one New Moon to another,
And from one Sabbath to another,
All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord.
I understand the difference between devotion and worship.
I know the arguments for both sides of this topic.

My question would be this: Why is it so important for you?

To me...it's not something to be debated.

Maybe you believe those that do not worship on Saturday are lost because they're
continually disobeying God's commandment.
Maybe those believing on worshipping on the first day of the week believe the other side is following legalism or the Torah or The Law.

The early church worshipped on the Day of the Lord.

The Didache, written approx 90AD and listed the teachings of the Apostles, taught worshipping on the Day of the Lord.

Ignatius of Antioch, who was taught by John and Peter, taught worshipping on the Day of the Lord.

Justin Martyr, whose beliefs came from John through another....taught that worshipping on the Sabbath was living under the Law.
He taught that God does not take pleasure in those that boast about serving God on the Sabbath but that we are to worship on perpetual Sabbaths (every day) and this is the Sabbath that will please the Lord.

I've already explained that I do not adhere to new teachings that I understand to be heretical or non-biblical.
New teachings usually are not biblical...I cannot think of one off-hand that is.

So I will not be engaging in this debate.
I believe we should worship God every day...
WORSHIP God every day.
And do so formally whenever a person deems it to be the Day of the Lord.

It's not because you can't follow all of the law we don't have a temple of levitical priest or sacrifices it was a heresy dealt with in the first century by Paul and the apostles I believe acts 15 was the reference
Exactly. It would be impossible even if a person wanted to.

Jesus said a temple would no longer be necessary but man would worship from any location.
This became a necessary belief due to the dispersion of the Jews by the Assyrians and Babylonians and they lost their footing between the two testaments.

John 4:20-26
20“Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you people say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.”

21Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.

22“You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews.

23“But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.

24“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

25The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us.”

26Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.

You reveal how little you understand regarding sanctification and justification... the justified person is also holy!

However, you are right, the single word is sufficient and it denies what you teach completely, which is Catholicism lite.

Answer this question:

HOW LONG does justification last?

I understand the difference between devotion and worship.
I know the arguments for both sides of this topic.

My question would be this: Why is it so important for you?
Because God says so Exo20:8-11. God placed it in the same unit as only worship Him, not vain His holy name or murder.

Because God says so, isn't that the point and what faith is about?

And Jesus warned that many would come in His name deceiving us...why we have to test everything from Scripture

Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Do we follow what man says or what God says? Do we follow popular traditions of man or obey the commandments of God- Jesus told us which direction we should follow- one of those choices according to Him, leads in a ditch Mat15:3-14 Mark7:7-13 so that doesn't seem like path we should take, but He gives us free will.

You will not find one Scripture in all of God's Word that tells us God's people can break God's commandments- there is a faithful remnant that keep them until the very end Exo20:6 Rev12:17KJV Rev14:12 Rev22:14KJV.

We were having a good conversation, and I appreciated it. We don't necessarily need to agree but we grow when challenged. And that is a good thing.
No growth going on when discussing with you Roger.
Sorry.
No challenges either.

Maybe next time around.

Exactly. It would be impossible even if a person wanted to.

Can you please show me from Scripture where we can't keep any of the Ten Commandments because the earthy temple is destroyed. Sadly many confuse the law that defines what sin is when breaking 1John3:4 James 2:11 Mat5:19-30 Rom7:7 the Ten Commandments the law of God Exo20:6 with the law of Moses Deut31:24-26 that was added because of sin for breaking the Ten Commandments until the Seed came. Gal3:19 Those were the laws that required an earthy temple, not the Ten Commandments. Sin is the same in both the OT and NT breaking the law of God, how we go about forgiveness of sin changed, not what sin is, because animal sacrifices could never remove sin why Jesus had to sacrifice Himself Heb10:1-10 not so we can continue in sin Heb10:26-30- He came to save us from our sins Mat1:21 we need a complete transformation Rom6:1-4

Yep, I said this in so many words. However, you can also see it another way:

If the foundation isn’t on Jesus Christ, like so many man-made doctrines are, then they’re not being obedient, are they?

Same thing!
Yes ma'am.
The foundation is always Jesus.

Let's say that how we build on that foundation is pivotol to our growth as Christians.
Let's agree that we are to Act on the words of Jesus.
IOW,,,,let's agree that Jesus is to be obeyed and this is building on the foundation which is Christ.

Can you please show me from Scripture where we can't keep any of the Ten Commandments because the earthy temple is destroyed. I know the difference between the Moral Law, the Ceremonial Law and the Civil Law.
I said in my first post to you that worshipping on the Sabbath could be considered to be a Ceremonial Law and thus not a Moral one.
This could be debated.

WHY do you believe this topic is so important?

Ellen White taught about the Sabbath in the late 1800's if I remember.
What SHE taught will not supersede what the Apostles taught and what those whom they taught then repeated.

I'll have to trust the early church and not Ellen White.
It's very easy for me.

The idea that without law is a license to sin is completely inaccurate one I have never heard any protest that Christianity teach that it's okay to send because we're not under the law

If you never had the law of Moses ever in history we would still have various moral laws like do not murder steal commit adultery Etc the Mosaic law is not the end all to the definition of law it is an isolated subset of rules to a religious people for the purpose of being able to communicate with God effectively and to stand apart from the other nations
And to establish rules for creating a civil community after hundreds of years in slavery.

Show me where the number 613 is in Scripture. Why elevate that over the Biblical number God gave Deut4:13 Exo34:28 There is too much personal commentary for my liking. I can go line by line of Mat5:17-30 but you will probably not like what Jesus is teaching here.
Matthew 5:17-30 is the exact representation of the difference between The Law and the New Covenant.

The term UNDER THE LAW is not an easy concept to really understand.
Jesus said He did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it.

A lot depends on what it means to have fulfilled the Law.
it means that Jesus fully completed the law...
He took the Law and brought it to its logical conclusion.

Why?

Because the Law, although being holy as Paul said, also did not function.
God prepared something better.

What the Law could not do....
Jesus did.

The Law could not make us obey it.
Jesus could make us obey the Law.

He did not abolish it....He brought it to the heart level...
and then sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in us so that it could actually be obeyed.

So now we still obey God....
but we are under the Law of Christ...the Law of Love
and we are no longer under The Law of following rules, regulations, commandments, ordinances.

Jesus said our righteousness has to surpass that of the Pharisees.
NOT that it is not necessary.

Those who don't shape their lives around Jesus' teaching, will shape their lives around another teacher or teachers.
Just fell on the above.....

And you never answered the question!
So how is that a good conversation??

The question was:
What happens when we DO NOT build our lives around the teachings of jesus?

But I'm no longer interested in your reply.

It's like when a calvinist is asked:
WHAT IS JUSTICE?

The question just cannot be answered for obvious reasons.

Ditto for building our lives around Jesus.

The answer would incriminate the replier.

'night.

Correct.

Ellen White is one of the deceivers.

Absolutely do not understand your question it is understood that there are 613 laws in the Mosaic law.

Concerning Matthew 5:17 and it's surrounding text people who support the Mosaic law being binding are completely misunderstanding the purpose and context of that statement nowhere is it saying that anybody is going to be following it it's simply says it will exist it is God's word it will be forever

however God's plan for mankind involved a critical change from the works of the law to the law of Liberty in Christ that being love God and love one another written to the heart as opposed to act it out in the flesh

So God accidently placed a ceremonial law in with the Ten Commandments? The law that His blood covers under His mercy seat. I have yet to find that verse in my Bible. I know people outside of Scripture teach this, not God.
WHY do you believe this topic is so important?
Why? because I do not believe God treats the 4th commandment any different than the other 9. Its all sin 1John3:4 Breaking one we break them all and become transgressor of the law and what we will be judged by. James 2:10-12 Ecc12:13-14 Mat5:19-30 Rev11:18-19

I don't recall ever teaching anyone to follow EGW or even quoting her once. I believe we should follow God- God placed the Sabbath in with the other 9 commandments, the one where He told us to only worship Him, the commandment is the one commandment that reveals which God we are to only worship Exo20:11 Rev14:7 so what's the point of keeping the other 9 commandments if we are not keeping the one that tells us the God they apply to.

Yeah you're completely obscuring the truth given in the New Testament which is Jesus Christ is our Sabbath rest on any day we choose to have it now since you claim to be following the Bible I don't see how you can escape this truth

NOT that it is not necessary.
Lets first go though what under the law means because it doesn't mean sinning and breaking the law.

Rom 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!

Being under the law means being under the condemnation of the law- guilty before God and it includes everyone.

Rom 3:19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

So it doesn't mean- well if you keep the law you are under the law so the solution is lawlessness. This is a very deceptive doctrine. Its being condemned by the law- the wages of sin- breaking the law of God is death Rom6:23 - this is what under the law means. If we have accepted Christ have God's laws written in our hearts Heb8:10 and are keeping them through subjecting ourselves to Holy Spirit John14:15-18 we are not under the condemnation Rom8:1 because the righteousness of the law is fulfilled in us Rom8:4 meaning its being kept. John14:15

But if we refuse to subject ourselves to the law of God we are not subjecting ourselves to the Holy Spirit and make ourselves an enmity to God. According to God the Sabbath is His Law Exo20:6 Exo20:8-11 Mark 3:4 John14:15 Rev14:12

Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

Classic Hebrew roots in SDA heretical theology that's all that is it's redefining scripture to say what it is not actually saying even in English it makes complete sense at the eighth grade level

Under the law means you're following the law. It's not something that is split into a rationalization to fit your theology.

Now I'm assuming you're not Jewish and therefore I'm not even sure how you can come about believing the law is in effect at all since it was never given to gentiles and never will be if you actually understood Christ work on the cross and Christianity this should be painfully obvious

In essence belief that you should be following the Mosaic law as some edict from God to a gentile is to completely misunderstand both the Mosaic law its intent it's purpose and scope as well as Christianity and the work of Jesus on the cross there is no other way to explain your belief

Matthew 5:17-30 is the exact representation of the difference between The Law and the New Covenant.
Yes agree, but lets look at this carefully.

Mat 5:17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.

Jesus did not come to destroy the law as sadly most teach, he came to fulfill.

What did He promise to do with the law that He fulfilled in this very passage.

Isa 42:21The Lord is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.

Magnify is not destroy, end or complete- its making it larger not smaller and Jesus fulfilled this perfectly

18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

This is a very important verse-there are two conditions here before even a jot or tittle can pass from the law- heaven and earth has to pass- heaven and earth are still here and all has to be fulfilled- not some things ALL which is all the prophecies that Jesus plainly said He did not come to destroy where He promises to come again and wipe away all tears, no more death, no more sin, obviously not fulfilled. Therefore the law stands because we have not had Judgement. Ecc12:13-14 Rev11:18-19 John12:48 James 2:11-12 Therefore not something as small as a dot of an i or cross of a t can pass from the law of God yet alone an entire commandment.

How do we know this is about the Ten Commandments- because He already foretold He would put an end to another law

Dan 9: 27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.

So the law of Moses that was outside the ark of God's covenant can't be the law that a jot or tittle can't pass from, so that leaves the Ten Commandments- the Testimony of God, written by God Himself Exo31:18 what was inside the ark of God's covenant under His mercy seat Exo25:21 and in heaven Rev11:19 because it is God's standard of righteousness Psa119:172 Isa56:1-2 the foundation of His throne Psa89:14

and we also know because Jesus quotes directly from the Ten Commandments but first says this:

19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

So you say what's the big deal about the Sabbath- well Jesus said quoting from this unit of Ten that was written by God that He came to magnify not to break or teach others to break the least of these commandments and by the very next verse least does not mean one will be in heaven.

20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

The Pharisee kept their traditions as well over the commandments of God Jesus again quoting directly from the Ten Commandments condemning them saying their heart is far from Me, because God placed His laws in our hearts Heb8:10 and when we reject them, we are rejecting something much more valuable. Rom8:7-8

Jesus quoted directly from the Ten Commandments, the law not a jot or tittle can pass from, the law He came to magnify, relating the thoughts of anger with thou shalt not murder- relating thoughts of lust with thou shalt not commit adultery and reminding us not to break or teach others to break the least of these commandments. And if we continue in that path its the one that leads to sin and judgment.

21 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’ 22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire. 23 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. 25 Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. 26 Assuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny.

Adultery

27 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

God spoke and wrote Ten Commandments, not 1 or 9 Deut4:13 Exo34:28 God called them His commandments Exo20:6 He personally told us how we are to love Him- He even spelled it out. By faith we should keep all of them and not take the authority away from God because in the end its only hurting ourselves. If we trust God with 9 of them trust Him with all of them that He only has our best interest at heart and knows what He is doing. Don't follow the crowd Jesus said to live by every word of God. There is a whole lot of thus saith the LORD's in Scripture one has to ignore to come up with the conclusion we can forget the commandment God said Remember.

Dan 9: 27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;

Classic heresy... mat 5:17 is not suggesting it is active, only won't dissapear... 2. It was never given to gentiles. No amount of scripture twisting or redefing terms will make that true.

You can follow the Mosaic law, but don't claim to be a christian, this is damaging and confusing true christians.

Yes agree, but lets look at this carefully.

And yet the law has changed the priesthood has changed which necessitated the change and you have no Temple you can't practice following the Mosaic law it's impossible it is one cohesive set of laws.

You do not understand what you are claiming to follow.you either are or are not doing all it

so what's your battling is the fact that you can't do it in the first place so why would you be suggesting that other people do it and not only that why would you be suggesting to Christians who do not believe that that they should do it, except for perhaps to try to spread heresy into the Christian world you're aware that torah keeping institutions that are not Jewish make up 1% of the Christian population that would make them just an aberration.

You are the poster child for this verse :

2 Cor 3:14. But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away
