If someone thinks that they just need to love, so they don't need to obey the commands against committing favoritism, or any of the other commands in the Law of Moses, then they would have an incomplete understanding of what it means to love. Everything in the Law of Moses is either in regard to how to love God or our neighbor, which is why Jesus said that those are the greatest two commandments and that all of the other commandments hang on them, so the position that we should obey the greatest two commandments is also the position that we should obey the commandments that hang on them. We can't obey the command to love instead of obeying God's other commandments for how to do that.

The old man is the one that lived in sin, not the one that lived in obedience to God. We need to die to the law of sin in order to be free to obey the Law of God, not the other way around. In Titus 2:14, Jesus gave himself to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people of his own possession who are zealous for doing good works, so the way to believe in what Jesus accomplished through the cross is by becoming zealous for doing good works in obedience to the Law of Moses (Acts 21:20).

The fact that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God means that we all need to repent and return to obedience to the Law of God.
Those who are born again are dead to the law of sin. Those who are not doers of righteous works in obedience to the Law of God are not born again (1 John 3:4).
The way to live for God is not by dying to His instructions for how to live for Him, but by dying to a law that was hindering us from following those instructions, namely the law of sin.
Please explain how you can interpret Romans 6 as saying that we need to die to the Law of God in order to be set free to become doers of what it reveals to be sin. Everything in that chapter speaks in favor of obedience to the God and against sin.
You're completely wrong and demonstrating your spiritual ignorance. Jesus said treating others like ourselves is love that fulfills all of the law and prophets. If we live by that rule we won't show favoritism because we don't want people showing favoritism towards us. See how it works?
Christ said that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4), so you have no justification for claiming that the Law of Christ is not in perfect accordance with every word that comes from the mouth of God.

The same can be said for everything else in the Law of Moses, which is why love fulfills the Law and the Prophets.
The 10 commandments were given to Israel. Pharisees followed the letter of the law. Yet Jesus called them whitewashed tombs, full of dead men's bones. And the Law of Christ is NOT the 10 commandments.

No one has ever said 'say a special prayer and your in forever no matter what'.

Do you understand what Paul is saying up to this point?

So the gospel is preached 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 and a person calls on the name of Jesus Christ.
They receive the Holy Spirit and start, walking the walk, as described by the apostle Paul.
That person exhibits the tell tale signs of the fruit of the Holy Spirit, as they walk further on in their
Christian life, then they remain saved.
If they continue in that faith in Jesus Christ with the observable spiritual fruit evident, then they continue
to be saved. The word "saved" is past tense.
Your misunderstanding is in how the gospel of Jesus Christ on it's own saves us.
It is not the fruit of the Holy Spirit that becomes evident in our lives, that saves us.
There is nothing we can do to add to that initial free gift of salvation, it belongs to Jesus Christ.
It is always the Gospel of Jesus Christ that saves us from day one until Jesus returns.
The Lord made the gospel powerfully simple to guard against our own deep desire, to inject our efforts
into that free gift of salvation. Church history proves this point time and time again.
The four line gospel in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 is the sole reason for our salvation, fact.

Therefore, if you disobey the law you are condemned and you are dead in your sin.
Which completely ignores what Paul said in Romans 8:9-11.

Your transgression already dealt you the death blow before you called on the name of Jesus.

For a Jew, love is the FULFILLMENT of the law, not the doing (fulfilling) of the law.
If you can love your enemies which Christ did, then you are a perfect reflection of Jesus.

The 1st generation of the children of Israel were saved from the bondage of Egypt... but they all still died never receiving what was promised to them because they wouldn't obey in faith, and instead went around and around in circles for decades until they all perished.
This generation of children is no different. We keep going around and around in circles about the gift of salvation but never grow to receive the promises of Yah because we refuse the walk the path of sanctification, which is obedience to His commandments in faith.

Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
It's considered a patient endurance because it isn't easy to do, especially in a beast-led world that teaches us to do anything but.

How does it make sense to you to think that obedience to what God has commanded is not obedience to God and how does Matthew 19:17 make that clear?
