*Yawn* Why do not quote all the scripture regarding the Law? Obviously you have a selective gospel that suits you. It does not suit God. Beholding Jesus? Sounds good. But you behold the Law instead. The law has done its job when we get born again. Then it is no longer applicable. It's in your Bible too.

"For through the law I died to the law so that I might live to God." Galatians 2:19. Tell me what laws apply to dead people?

"But now, having died to what bound us, we have been released from the law, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code." Romans 7:6. Just in case you did not understand the previous verse

"All who rely on works of the law are under a curse. For it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” Now it is clear that no one is justified before God by the law, because, “The righteous will live by faith.” The law, however, is not based on faith; on the contrary, “The man who does these things will live by them.” Galatians 3: 1-12
When you follow the law, you are not living by faith. That means that you are not pleasing God.

"Before this faith came, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until faith should be revealed. So the law became our guardian to lead us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian." Galatians 3:23-25

The law does not save us and neither does it make us righteous. "Whoever keeps the whole law but stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it." James 2:10 Don't tell me that you keep God's law perfectly

"But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law." Galatians 5:18 If you are not led by the Spirit then you can ignore everything I've said.

"For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God." Romans 8:14 If you are not led by the Spirit then you are not saved.

See? It's not that hard. God's word is clear, if you study it correctly
^^^^ This should end this discussion, for those that are intellectually honest, and who seek to follow Jesus...

The USofA is the not the first beast, that is the RCC, but "Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. ( America ) It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon." (Satan) Revelation 13:11 ...

The two horns of the earth beast are commonly understood to represent:
  1. The United States of America - Adventist writers typically identify the earth beast itself as the United States, which rises "out of the earth" (suggesting a new nation emerging from uninhabited territory) around the late 18th century.
  1. Two principles of government and religion- The two horns are interpreted as representing:
    • Republican principles (civil liberty, democratic governance)
    • Protestant principles (religious liberty, separation of church and state)
The USA, is now looking like and speaking as the RCC, the Antichrist. Being dictatorial (mandates) subverting our Constitutional Rights, particularly Trump's doing away with separation of church & state, and (soon to come) restrictions on Freedom of Religion ( = Freedom of Conscious ) ... ~> ( becoming like the 1st Beast, the Antichrist)
the United States of America is not the Beast!
Satan, Rome, & "Apostate Protestants of the United States" = Dragon, Beast, & False Prophet = Revelation 16:13-16
The 1st Beast is The Anti-Christ, The Papacy as ALL the Classical Protestant Reformers pointed out by their correct understanding of the Bible's description of the Beast and Bible Prophecy, which points "the "Man of SIN" out. 2 Thessalonians 2:3–10

The USA = Second Beast, ( beasts being a national entities eg. the Vatican, such as = Rome, Greece, Medo-Persia, Babylon, etc)
United States is identified as the second beast in Revelation 13:11.

Revelation 13:11
, "Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon."

Sorry Rob, I do not follow men much less women. who was deceived in the garden?
The Bible says that God has given us prophets, all through history, to present to man, what our God wishes to say to us.
Noah, Elijah, Elisha , John the Baptist, most sent just before big "God Events", to give us help and direction, inspired by the Holy Spirit of God. Like John the Baptist came to "make straight the Way of the Lord."

Ellen White is God's last prophet, to Mankind, giving the same message as Elijah, and John the Baptist, (ALL God's Prophets) TODAY ... preaching Revival, Reformation and Repentance, OBEDIENCE. Which is why the so called Christians in this forum, dislike her, calling her a "False Prophet", just as this world in Noah's, & Elijah's days rejected their messages of
REPENT, make STRAIGHT the WAY of THE LORD. = BE OBEDIENT to the Law / Character of God.

"As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be at the coming of the Son of Man" Matthew 24:37 = TODAY, ... Just before JUDGMENT !

SO ! "memberofthebride" ... are you willing to heed the call to be obedient, to God and get in the "Ark" Jesus ?

John 14:20 , John 15:4-5 , Romans 8:10 ,
  • Galatians 2:20: "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. AKJV
2000 years from creation to Abraham, 2000 years from Abraham to Jesus' 1st coming. 2000 years from 1st Coming to His Second.
Our God is a God, of cycles, patterns, types / anti-types, "fractals" ... just look at Nature.

Jesus is coming back here REAL SOON ... this world's 6000 years of probation is up NOW ! Next year 2027, it will have been 2000 years since Jesus was baptised... then in 2031, it will be 2000 years since Jesus was resurrected and went home to The Father.

One problem I did encounter in my study; the stony execution of a man for collecting sticks on the sabbath. (Numbers 15:32-36) This appeared cruel and set me back.

After a little more study the context then became clear, the execution had absolutely nothing to do with breaking sabbath rules. The context is a discussion of unintentional and intentional sin. The issue is blasphemy; the deliberate, insulting, contemptuous and willful lack of reverence for God. This man stood at the foot of the mountain and heard God’s own voice proclaiming his commandments. In his arrogance he then proceeded to publicly challenged God. Not a good idea.
That transgression had far greater implications:

The PATTERN of the Sabbath is part of God's inviolable irreducible PLAN of Salvation.

This PLAN of Salvation was to be proclaimed and understood by the entire pre-Church age world.
And up to and including today. In fact I myself came to believe by understanding the pattern of the appointed times the moedim (מועדים).

The precedent that this man was attempting could not stand, it was a crisis of the utmost gravity.

Rth 1:16
And Ruth (THE GENTILE MOABITESS) said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

you very obviously do NOT care what Jesus taught us... unless a man is born again, he cannot enter the kingdom... pretty simple
Oh I do, I live by all He did, said and taught,

Born again is actually translated as "Born from above" which is the birth I am waiting for.
That which is born of flesh is flesh, if you sir, bleed, you are flesh, spirit can not bleed,
that which is born of the spirit, Is spirit --- this is the birth I look for, I will be spirit exactly as Jesus Christ is spirit.

That truth bomb was dropped to correct the point you seemed to be trying to make that resistance to the gospel was only from a few pharisees. Most of the populace did what the pharisees told them to do out of fear of being kicked out of the synagogues and having their lives ruined.
Exactly my point...most people look at the pharisees as all of Israel or the jews ....not the case. So I was pointing out that the pharisees even though in the temple was a type of person also not just related to israel and the temple.

Our problem is not a lack of knowledge about what is right. We know what is right. Our problem is that we are sinners. We either do the wrong thing naturally or willfully.

The primary reason God gave Israel a moral law was not to teach them righteousness; it was to establish for Himself a holy people.

Resting on the Seventh day is a feature of that covenant relationship. It defines Israel as his holy people. Israel obeyed the weekly Sabbath, not because it was inherently moral or righteous. They observed the Sabbath because of their covenant obligation.
Exodus Leviticus Deuteronomy are all commentaries and object lessons and mnemonics (encoded patterns) and PROOFS (divine watermarks in fact) of God's plan of Salvation provided in Christ Jesus the Coming One.

You think Jesus was talking about all men? Isn't it possible that he was being specific to the Jewish people?
No, if He wanted to state the Sabbath was only meant for the Jews , He would have said it. The Sabbath was made at creation for mankind.

The Jews were given the 10 commandments not only to obey and honor but to also be the “priests” that would go throughout the world preaching the One true God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God included the keeping of the Sabbath in the 10 because they (Israel) had not kept the Sabbath for the 400 years while in Egypt… and most likely, even before that period.

Oh let's not forget about Numbers....

Exo 17:6 - Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

Num 20:8 - Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.

Ahhhh look we believers of this present Church age HAVE entered into our Sabbath rest. The ordinance has been fully satisfied and invariably observed because every day is Sabbath rest for us.

Don't be a tool...

She knows more about scripture than you have evidenced, so far.

You SDA's seem to come in waves.... we won't hear anything from you for a while, then
several show up at once... do you guys get some sort of handout or something?

The early church met in worship and to break bread on the first day of the week... referred to as "the Lord's day".....
historically undeniable. Do you think the apostles and disciples that lived and walked with Jesus somehow got it wrong?
Thank you! And? I wrote a song for such tools LOL

God's plan of given humans eternal life is 7000 years long, we are at the end of 6000, the last - 1000 years is the 7th days Sabbath of rest from Sin.

The KING of Kings will be on earth ruling and Satan will be put away--- no sin

all things will be restored as they were when Adam was made but before he sinned.
nothing will hurt or harm on earth including animals,

Yes, the ten commandments are an exceeding broad and perfect standard of righteousness that prohibits every evil thing and defines every duty required of humanity.
The law is Broad, and the Complete Definition of Sin. Sin is defined exclusively as the transgression of the law, and without this law, there can be no knowledge of what constitutes sin, 1 John 3:4
Although the words are few, the matter contained within the ten commandments is infinite, and there is no duty required nor sin forbidden by God that does not fall under at least one of these ten precepts.

Says Thomas Scott, “This law which is so comprehensive, that we cannot measure it.” See Commentary. Bishop Hopkins on the ten commandments, published by the American Tract Society, says, “There is no duty required, nor sin forbidden by God, but it falls under one, at least, of these ten words.” Again, he says, “The words are few; but the sense and matter contained in them is infinite, the rest of Scripture is but a commentary upon them, either exhorting us to obedience by arguments, or alluring us to it by promises, warning us against transgression by threatenings, or exciting us to the one, and restraining us from the other, by examples recorded in the historical part of it. All those precepts which are dispersed in the Scriptures, and which concern the regulating of our lives and actions, although not found expressly mentioned in the decalogue, may yet very aptly be reduced under one of these ten commandments.”
The 10 commandments are the Standard of Judgment. Because the law is so comprehensive, it will be the criterion of judgment by which the doom of the world is irrevocably fixed. James 2:12.

While the ten commandments reveal sin and show that we are transgressors, they do not point out a way of escape or provide a Savior. That's were Jesus comes to our rescue.
You have an identical philosophy, theological understanding as the four mainline religions shown below.

All four historical religions placed themselves under the law.

Catholics, the Reformed, Protestants, and the Orthodox all recognize the Ten Commandments as the foundational
moral law and a basis of holiness. However, these traditions divide, group, and number the commandments differently,
and they place a slightly different theological emphasis on how the Law relates to a believer's sanctification. [1, 2, 3, 4]

The Numbering Systems
The text of the Ten Commandments appears in the Bible in both Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5, but the verses are not explicitly numbered. Over time, Christians developed three primary ways of dividing them: [1, 2]
  • Catholic and Lutheran tradition: Follows the numbering established by St. Augustine in the 4th century. They combine the prohibitions against false gods and idols into a single first commandment, and divide the prohibition against coveting into two separate commandments (coveting a neighbor's wife, and coveting a neighbor's goods) to maintain the total of ten.
  • Protestant (non-Lutheran) and Orthodox tradition: Follows a division outlined by the early Greek Church Fathers. They list the prohibition against graven images (idols) as a distinct second commandment, and keep the two coveting warnings as a single tenth commandment. [1, 2, 3, 4]

The Role of the Commandments in Holiness
While all groups honor the Decalogue, their theological perspectives on its role vary slightly:
  • Catholicism: The Catechism of the Catholic Church treats the Decalogue as the essential moral foundation for spiritual health, growth, and Catholic social teaching. It is viewed as the path that disposes a person to receive God's grace.
  • Reformed & Protestant Communities: The moral law remains permanently binding. Reformers (such as John Calvin) emphasized the "third use of the Law"—meaning the commandments act as a vital guide or rulebook for Christians to live lives of gratitude for the grace they have received.
  • Orthodoxy: The Orthodox Church views the Ten Commandments as part of the moral law that was fulfilled and elevated by Jesus Christ. The basis of holiness is ultimately found in theosis (deification/union with Christ), but the Decalogue remains an unchanging baseline of righteous living. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Ultimately, despite different traditions in counting and numbering, all these branches of Christianity agree on the core substance: loving God above all things, keeping holy times, honoring parents, and strictly avoiding murder, theft, adultery, and deceit.

Please see Genesis.
Genesis records that God rested on Day Seven. The observance of a weekly Sabbath was instituted during the Exodus, when the people gathered manna. This observance was incorporated into the Mount Sinai Covenant and practiced by citizens of Israel. The Gentiles were never commanded to observe a weekly rest.

Genesis 2:2-3, Mark 2:27, Exodus 16:25 - 26, Exodus 20:11. It is the only day He made holy. Follow the order of the Scripture- Sabbath first… before Abraham…

The 4th commandment begins with “Remember..”

Thanks for all your comments. While I do agree that EGW and many other folks since the cross have given their life and works to the Lord, I don’t believe any were prophets like those in the OT.

Doesn’t mean they did not write good works and commentaries… clearly she wrote so much about the Lord and offered much interpretations, but so have many others. But I don’t think you can elevate her to a prophet like Isaiah. Jeremiah, etc.

The prophets indeed spoke to us prior to the cross but it would be Jesus Himself who would speak to us. Meaning, Christ is the final authority and no one can replace, correct, surpass or contradict His teachings.

I am not saying EGW did contradict Jesus or correct Him, but she definitely PROFESSED her love for God and had given her life over to Him… very different than meeting the position of a “prophet.”

Is she different than Franklin, CS Lewis, Wyclift, Tyndall, etc.? There were / are so many who have committed their life’s to God .. none are “prophets” in the sense that the SDA has elevated her.
In my limited understanding, she and the SDA church has been tremendously successful in following and obeying Jesus - unlike MANY Christian denominations. They may not have gotten everything right but there are two HUGE things they have gotten right and many, many have failed miserably- the first is Sola Scriptura, and Jesus the Messiah, our Lord and Savior (the Testimony of Jesus).

What they have gotten wrong is / are many of the same interpretations that all have misunderstood. But these misinterpretations are NOT salvatic.

If anyone were to compare the teachings of the SDA to the largest Christian organization in the world, the RCC, it would be more than clear just how far the RCC has moved away from the teachings of Jesus.

I don’t see anything in the SDA that has them going down that path at all. But again, they are just as faulty in more than a few of their interpretations as others- even though they are 100% convinced they are correct! Again, that does not make them a cult or like the JW’s, the Mormons, etc. There cannot be a greater cult than the RCC (IMO).

Regarding your claim that the papacy is the anti-Christ. Technically, that is not true since there is absolutely NO individual figure in the NT that is identified as the “anti-Christ.” There is the mention of this term in only 4 places and they ALL speak to the “spirit” of the anti-Christ. However, you are correct in that the papacy is indeed the “little horn” of Daniel 7, 8, 11, etc. as well as the “lawless one, the evil one, the sea beast, etc., in Revelation.”

God has gone to great lengths to provide the timing, the characteristics, the actions, etc., of this little horn in Daniel 7 and 8.- can’t miss him!!

But on the SDA side if things, they have indeed unpacked Daniel to a greater degree than any other Christian organization… but they too have made some serious misinterpretations- again, not salvatic.

Example: 7 times in Daniel 4,
times, time and 1/2 time in Daniel 7,
2300 days in Daniel 8,
1290 and 1335 days in Daniel 12,
Some in Daniel 9:27,
Some in Daniel 8,
And like ALL- all of Daniel 11.

So, no one gets it all right! But they do not claim a pope who is divine, or they can forgive sins, or salvation is only through their church, change God’s laws and commandments, etc.

Think about it, if anyone were to put down in a piece of paper all the practices, beliefs, ceremonies, worship Mary and other saints, etc., would anyone have a problem accepting they were NOT the little horn and fall short of Hebrews 1:1-2 (among many other verses in the NT?)

.by abolishing in His flesh the law of commandments and decrees. He did this to create in Himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace....... Ephesians 2:15. That's where.
Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

The law of commandments contained in ordinances.

The law of ordinances are not the 10 commandments.

Heb 9:1 Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.

Heb 9:9-11
9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; 10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. 11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

Ordinances were always referring to the cerimonial laws.

The Ten Commandments were written by the finger of God on tables of stone, representing their permanent and immutable nature. Exodus 31:18
In contrast, the law of ordinances was the "handwriting of Moses," recorded with ink on parchment in a book.
The moral law of Ten Commandments is holy, spiritual, and just, revealing the principles of righteousness that are binding for all mankind across all ages Romans 7:12. Ordinances were "carnal" and "shadowy," consisting of meats, drinks, and various washings designed to point forward to Christ's sacrifice
Hebrews 9:10
Hebrews 10:1

While the Ten Commandments are as unchangeable as God’s throne and remain in full force as long as heaven and earth exist, the law of ordinances was temporary Matthew 5:17-18. The ceremonial ordinances were abolished and "nailed to the cross" when Christ, the antitype, died for the sins of the world
Colossians 2:14-17
Ephesians 2:15.

The apostle James calls the moral law the "royal law" and the "law of liberty," stating that even offending in one point makes a person guilty of all James 2:8-11 This is entirely separate from the "handwriting of ordinances" which Paul explains was "against us" and was blotted out Colossians 2:14.

"Against Us": .....

The Ten Commandments are for man’s benefit and were never "against" him; for example, the Sabbath was made specifically for man's blessing Mark 2:27.
Conversely, the specific ceremonial sabbaths and feast days connected to the ritual system are described as a burden or "against" the people because they were part of a typical system that met its end in Christ Colossians 2:14-17..

Prove that the law of ordinances are the 10 commandments. ????
