Senate Republicans are reportedly angry over President Trump's endorsement of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton over Sen. John Cornyn in the GOP Primary#DC
All spoke out against the endorsement - and all four considered to be Rinos due to establishment voting and opposition to President Trump's agenda including the SAVE act and border security.
President Trump called Paxton a "true MAGA Warrior who has ALWAYS delivered for Texas" and a "Fighter" who "knows how to WIN."
Trump criticized Cornyn saying,
"John Cornyn is a good man, and I worked well with him, but he was not supportive of me when times were tough and, despite having the Most Successful Economy in the History of our Country during my First Term... was very late in backing me."
Trump highlighted Paxton's loyalty to the America First agenda.
Paxton responded immediately, saying he was "incredibly honored" and looked forward to "championing his America First agenda in the Senate."
Cornyn shot back that he voted with Trump over 99% of the time and trusted Texas Republican voters to pick a "strong nominee" who can beat James Talarico in November rather than a "weak nominee who jeopardizes everything we care about."
The Texas Republican primary runoff for U.S. Senate is on May 26th, with early voting already started.
Paxton has stood with Trump consistently, including fighting election integrity battles and pushing the SAVE Act.
Paxton offered earlier to drop out if Senate Republicans ditched the filibuster to pass it.
Asking for patience is what they should have done on day one.
