2. 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐩 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚’𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧. That is an Iraqi tribal leader publicly endorsing the Trump-administration Iran posture against the multi-decade U.S. policy of containment-by-sanctions.

In a Truth Social post, he said the enriched uranium — what he calls the “𝘕𝘶𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘋𝘶𝘴𝘵” — will either be “𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘺𝘦𝘥”, or destroyed inside Iran (or another agreed site) with international inspectors there to witness it.
Translation: no future enrichment, no quietly keeping the stockpile, no taking Tehran's word for it. The material gets removed or destroyed, verified, on the record.
Iran wants the uranium to stay on Iranian soil. That's the loophole — and it's exactly the one these terms slam shut. A deal that leaves the stockpile in Iran leaves Iran a screwdriver-turn from a bomb. This doesn't.

The sequencing is the part that matters: 𝐈𝐫𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭. 𝐈𝐫𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐔𝐒-𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩. 𝐈𝐫𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐬𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬. That is not the behavior of a regime that has accepted the strategic reality of its position. It is the behavior of a regime trying to extract one more leverage point before signing.
The US response is the part the Western press corps does not know how to cover honestly. Each round has been narrowly scoped — one target, declared self-defense response to a documented provocation. None has been “𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯,” in the press-corps sense. All of them have been responses.

US and Iranian negotiators have reportedly agreed to a 60-day “memorandum of understanding” to extend the ceasefire and open formal talks on Iran’s nuclear program. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 — 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐝. Trump was briefed and has not approved it.
The reported framework: the Strait of Hormuz reopens to free shipping, Iran resumes selling oil, and Tehran commits — on paper — to never building a nuclear weapon. First on the table would be 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐫𝐚𝐧’𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐮𝐦 and capping future enrichment, in exchange for talks on sanctions relief and frozen Iranian funds.

There is a comforting story being told about Iran: that the June strikes 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐝 its enriched uranium. The physics says otherwise.
Uranium is 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝟗𝟐 on the periodic table. It is not a building, a centrifuge, or a weapon you can blow up. It is a fundamental element of nature.
Conventional explosives break chemical bonds and move matter around. They do not touch the atomic nucleus. You can collapse a mountain on top of uranium and every single atom is still sitting there under the rubble.
Think of gold or lead. You can melt it, scatter it, bury it a mile underground. You cannot make it 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐨𝐥𝐝. The only thing in the universe that turns one element into another is a nuclear reaction, fission inside a reactor or a nuclear detonation, and a bunker-buster bomb does neither.
Even a nuclear strike would not erase it. It would scatter it as radioactive fallout, which is worse, not better.
Here are the numbers. As of June 13, the day before the strikes, Iran held 𝟒𝟒𝟎.𝟗 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬 of uranium enriched to 60 percent, one short technical step from weapons-grade (IAEA). It sits as uranium hexafluoride inside an underground tunnel complex at Isfahan.
The strikes hit the tunnel entrances. The facility itself was left largely intact, and IAEA chief Rafael Grossi has said the material is likely still buried there. The agency has now had 𝐧𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐬 and cannot confirm where all of it is.
Iran is not even pretending the material is gone. Its own foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, went on television and offered to dilute it:
