My OP was aimed at the debauchery seen in the Gay Pride Parades. For that small minority of men, maybe <2%, who are attracted to and love romantically only other males and not females, they did not choose this, therefore it has to be how God made them, Rom.9:20-21; these men I do not see in scripture as sinful solely on who they love and are a faithful relationship. In addition, I have no idea who God wrote in the Lamb’s Book of Life from before the creation, Rev. 13:8, RSV/ESV. Because of this, for one reason, Jesus in a parable warned about us picking who the elect individuals are -
“He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The slaves said to him, ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’ But he said, ‘No; lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. Let both grow together until the harvest; and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.’” (Matt 13:28-30, RSV)
Yes, I believe there are men who only love other men who are also loved by God Himself, and he proves it by his crucifixion, 1 Cor. 2:7, therefore -
“But God gives proof of His love to us in Christ's dying for us while we were still sinners.” (Rom 5:8, Weymouth)
“…Thou hast been offered in sacrifice, And hast purchased for God with Thine own blood Some out of every tribe and language and people and nation,” (Rev 5:9, Weymouth)
There in Rom 5:8 & Rev. 5:9, we see that God proved his loved to the elect and it is clearly stated that the elect come from among all categories of men.
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Gal 3:28, RSV) *This is about salvation, not the differences between men and women, and their God-given roles.
Paul again as quoted from Gal. 3:28 shows that God does not show partiality, ALL kinds and categories of men are the same as justified in Christ.
“The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. And I am the foremost of sinners; but I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience for an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.” (1Tim 1:15-16, RSV)
We must recognize that Christ came to save sinners and Paul said he was a major sinner. Then think of David, a man after God’s own heart, who committed adultery, leading to conception, and then to cover up his sin, arranged the murder of Uriah, his faithful warrior. So, we can’t always know just by what we perceive to be anyone’ sin.
No doubt there are those of God’s elect who may be marching in the Pride Parades, but we can’t determine which ones they are. We can though, discern debauchery boasted of.
Notice that in v4 it makes clear the sinful Sodomites included women "all the people from every quarter". I notice you did not quote v9 which reads:
And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door. (Gen 19:9, KJV)
There you have violence, and attempted rape! That is not about males loving males and in a faithful relationship. In Eze. 16:48-50 God gave the sin of Sodom, and male to male sexual relationships are not listed. In Ezekiel, the "abominations" are overwhelmingly about idols and things connected to idols. The Jews about 180 BC saw the sin of Sodom thus:
"Neither spared he the place where Lot sojourned, but abhorred them for their pride." (Sirach 16:8 KJVA)
"He did not spare the neighbors of Lot, whom he loathed on account of their arrogance." (Sirach 16:8 NRSVAue)
Some sins are so horrible, they are called vile and abominations.
Romans 1
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Is it certain "homosexuals" are in a 1st century book?

Did Paul assure man that he can pray for the gift of sexual abstinence and receive it? Or is it a given?

Context around this is fleeing sin as a believer. About Godly discipline for the believer.
The designation of someone as a fornicator etc ...could mean they are unsaved..because they aren't identified as a believer who gets caught in that, but the context is of believers being admonished not to get into those sins.

Leviticus 18 lists sexual sins that are all abominations.
Leviticus 18: 29 For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.
Leviticus 18:22 - You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.
Leviticus 20:13 - If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.
Deuteronomy 22:5 - A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.
Proverbs 12:22 - Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.
Daniel 11:31 - Forces from him shall appear and profane the temple and fortress, and shall take away the regular burnt offering. And they shall set up the abomination that makes desolate.
Proverbs 17:15 - He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the Lord.
Proverbs 28:9 - If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.
Proverbs 16:5 - Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord; be assured, he will not go unpunished.

You are twisting Scripture my friend. Homosexuals who practice their sin irrespective of whether they profess to be saved or not, are headed for the Lake of Fire.

An abomination is something that causes hate or disgust. In biblical usage, an abomination
is something that God loathes or hates because it is offensive to Him and His character.
The Hebrew words translated “abomination” are often used in association with things like idolatry and false gods (Deuteronomy 17:2–5; 27:15; 29:17; Isaiah 66:3; Jeremiah 32:34; Ezekiel 5:9; 11:18; Hosea 9:10). In 1 Kings 11:5, the god Molech is called “the abomination of the Ammonites” (ESV). The NIV translates it as “the detestable god of the Ammonites.” The point is that God hates the falsehood, impurity, and wickedness of these pagan gods.
Occult practices are also called an abomination in Scripture, as is child sacrifice (Deuteronomy 18:9–12; 20:18; 2 Chronicles 28:3). Other abominations in God’s sight are ungodly sexual relationships like homosexuality and adultery (Leviticus 18:22–29; 20:13; Deuteronomy 24:4), cross-dressing (Deuteronomy 22:5), imperfect sacrifices (Deuteronomy 17:1), dishonest business dealings (Deuteronomy 25:13–16; Proverbs 11:1; 20:10, 23), wickedness (Proverbs 15:9, 26), injustice (Proverbs 17:15), turning a deaf ear to God’s instruction (Proverbs 28:9), and hypocritical offerings from the unrepentant (Proverbs 15:8; Isaiah 1:13). Most of the references to that which is abominable or detestable come in God’s Law in Leviticus and Deuteronomy, in prophecies declaring God’s judgment against Israel, and in Proverbs.
Proverbs 6 contains a list of seven things that God calls an abomination: “There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers” (Proverbs 6:16–19, ESV).
In Luke 16:15 Jesus tells the Pharisees, “What is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God” (ESV). The context of Jesus’ statement is a rebuke of the Pharisees’ love of money. He had just been teaching that a person cannot serve two masters and that serving God and serving money are mutually exclusive (verses 13–14). The Pharisees responded with ridicule, showing the blindness of a heart that revels in what God calls an abomination.
Titus 1:16 says that false teachers may “claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.” Jesus and Daniel both predicted the abomination of desolation that would corrupt the holy place of the temple (Matthew 24:15; Daniel 9:27). Also related to the end times, the whore of Babylon is pictured as holding “a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries” (Revelation 17:4). She is said to be the mother of all the abominations on earth (Revelation 17:5) and identified as “the great city that rules over the kings of the earth” (verse 18). This city with all of its loathsome acts will be destroyed (verses 16–17).
From idolatry to unfair scales to ungodly sexual relationships to wickedness of various kinds, abominations separate people from God. Really, all sin (missing the mark of God’s perfection) can be considered an abomination. All sin separates us from God and is detestable to Him (Romans 3:23; 6:23; Proverbs 15:9). God’s hatred of sin makes Christ’s sacrifice on the cross all the more remarkable. It was at the cross that “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21). As He suffered and died for our sin, Jesus could identify with the psalmist: “I am a worm and not a man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people” (Psalm 22:6). Jesus took our abominations upon Himself and gave us the gift of His righteousness in return. All who put their trust in Him will be saved. Source
I would say no actually .. repentance is from dead works to the accepting the work of Christ on our behalf.
Bottom line: There should not be a month that celebrates sin.
I agree, ALL sin is an abomination to God. God does not distinguish one type of sin from another when He makes that statement. His standard for not needing a savior is total perfection, and none of us can achieve that. That their choice of specific type of sin is different than the choice the rest of us make does not make them better or worse than the rest of us. And even those of us who are believers still sin, do we really want to be judged by the standards we use to judge others?
How can you guys not understand this?

Start the cause to have heterosexuals bring in penthouse/playboy into the school library ...........if this is the hill you want to fight on.
For me.........I would rather see the bible doctrine of those who make these threads. The world is the world and will not change.
