And you did not answer my question: How would Paul's wife DYING make him being one seeking to be
loosed from the bonds of marriage, or make him a hypocrite? I say it does neither = rational/logical.
Too speculative, not only do you presume a wife, but married to him when he wa at a young age, and she somehow died before he went off for his ministry.

Think about Lord Jesus, he started his ministry at about 30, did he have any romantic engagement before that, as a young man? If no, is it rational and logical to assume Paul not only married, but somehow left a widower, also as a young man?
Why do you elevate the 70s as some kind of ideal time to have had a relationship? You did not answer that either.
Because that's when the boomers came of age, there was the hippie movement, also the Jesus movement, with a zeitgeist of free love; economy was awful, young people were looking everywhere and seeking everywhere for spiritual pursuit. After that in the 80s the zeitgeist shifted to materialism, those kids began to settle down, brow family and built businesses.

😅

It's sad to see that some can't agree to disagree and then start just copy and pasting scripture as if the one who throws the most verses out there wins by default.

No thought, nuance, articulating, conversation with active listening...

Arguing with people like that is like playing chess with a pigeon. They come in, walk all over the board, kick the pieces over, take a c**p and then strut off as if they've won when in reality they've achieved pretty much zero.
But the spectacle, dude. The spectacle!

Also, howdy and welcome to the forum.

Wait, so there's subjects you CAN be chill about?!? Great goodness, I had no idea! What are they, let's talk about those for a bit! 😜

Anyways, my point is that you are fighting with the wrong crowd. To the best of my knowledge, everyone on the singles forum considers singleness to be a valid Christian path, except for JohnDB. And he's not even single, he just comes here to insult those who are because he can't handle retirement.

The way you answer people here makes it seem like you think you are arguing with only one person. You do know that each username is a different actual person, right? 🤔
Alright, then I also admit, I might've been under the influence of feminism and redpill movement, the pushback against feminism.

Um, OK. How about this: If you're a Christian, you're only permitted to marry another Christian, right? And we're allowed to do it, right?

So if you're a Christian and you're dating another Christian, and you become a romantic couple, and then you marry, and then you start a family, and you enjoy a happy life together.....at any point in this process, are you guilty of idolatry?
Also, this is also a heavy load of assumptions - not only is there a woman, but around your age, also single, willing to date, attracted to you, willing to date YOU, and most importantly, a real Christian, not just carrying the label. Then upon that load of assumptions, another load of a happy ending ... at any point of this process, you're in danger of losing it all, left devastated.

No, but you're guilty of counting a brood of chickens before the first egg is hatched. Haven't Lord Jesus taught us to count the costs first?

As I understand it, your definition of "counting the costs" before deciding on marriage means that someone who desires marriage should consider marriage, and then reject that option. You seem to think that everyone should approach it this way.

Well, yes. Dating and marriage involves risks. Just like all things in life that are good and worth doing. However, if you, personally, want to avoid these risks altogether, then yes, you can choose to stay single.

You seem to think that an unhappy marriage is inevitable or something. Well, if you do think that, I have good news, haha. You don't have to get married. It's your choice.

Yes, that shows at least you're being serious and realistic. If you can't answer the "with who" question, simply dreaming about marriage for the sake of marriage itself, then that's idolatry.

Nope, stay single is the DEFAULT status for all, taking this gamble to marry is a choice.

Ah, I see. So no Christian should ever bother with marriage, ever. Thanks for the advice. Hahaha!

Unless you're a twin, we're all born alone, aging alone, dying alone; if you're an only child, plus growing alone; if you're a one man business, plus working alone. Any companionship is a temporary illusion. That's why I come to God through Jesus and submit to him, for he's constant, he's eternal, he'll never leave me.

You don't have any in-person friends?

I have a question for you, Lovette. If you were able to send a personal message to every single Christian who is on the verge of dating, getting engaged, or getting married.......what would that message say?

"But this I say, brethren, the time is short, so that from now on even those who have wives should be as though they had none, those who weep as though they did not weep, those who rejoice as though they did not rejoice, those who buy as though they did not possess, and those who use this world as not misusing it. For the form of this world is passing away."

Well, that would definitely explain your fear that going on a date would result in scandal, scamming, humiliation, and possible legal trouble 🤔

OK, that's kinda what I thought.

I have some other questions. Just out of curiosity, that's all. When you see people in your life date, get engaged, or marry, are you ever happy for those people? Do ever feel envy, ever? Or do you shake your head at their decision?

I don't know any, don't see any. Even if I did, I'd feel the same as I see dating, wedding and happy ending in a Hallmark movie, like Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, or Emma and Mr. Knightley.

Yeah, plus a very negative view on six, especially penetrative six, that it's a primitive, animalistic behavior, if you do it, you're treating your partner as an animal, and it degrades yourself to an animal, it's a necessarily evil to perpetuate human race, and it's literally a schadenfreude in terms of sensuality, for it often pleasures the man while hurts the woman, man reaches climax, woman reaches soreness. Marriage doesn't change this nature of it, it merely legalizes and moralizes it, it'll still cause you "trouble in the flesh".

Whatever happened to romance?

Nobody in your life has ever dated or married? How is that possible?
