It is hard to believe that a thread could be used to elevate this man's name.

The only books which should be written about John Calvin and his works is why they need to be avoided!!
Much of what he get from Calvinism was written by his disciples, not Calvin himself.

Some results of a Google AI search....

Your observation touches on a widely recognized historical distinction. While John Calvin provided the foundational writings—most notably the Institutes of the Christian Religion—the formalized, rigid system we know as "Calvinism" was heavily developed, categorized, and expanded by his disciples and later Reformed theologians over several generations.

Yes that is true.
John Calvin often contradicted himself and went around in circles.... but he did write some awful things and do awful things so he should be avoided.

That is so dumb to think, sir.
How can you?

I said:

....For belief in Jesus Christ saves us from Hell.

Did Jesus contradict that?

John 11:25
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life.
He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

You suffer from... Compulsive argumentation.
It seems to be pathological.

Compulsive argumentation—or excessive rationalization—is a deeply ingrained habit or mental compulsion where a person feels compelled to debate, dispute, or disprove thoughts to relieve anxiety or establish control. Instead of resolving distress, it traps the brain in an endless cycle of looping thoughts, overanalysis, and frustration. Google AI

FWers do and say some very wicked things too. And they love to talk about Calvin LOL!

They also lie about him. Again and again. They pretend they are good researchers and then
distort the historical record over and over again because really they are not so much
interested in truth as they are about expressing their un-Biblical opinions.

One guy reluctantly and seemingly resentfully admitted he had been wrong in what he had been saying
about Calvin and then the very next day was back to promoting his falsehoods. These people are incorrigible.

Can you get this straight, please?

Not, free willers.

Its.... "FREED" willers.
Freed by God's power of grace!

When God suppresses the flesh of a person?
By grace that soul was made able to be free to make his own choice when given the right information.

Grace is the reason why anyone who rejects Jesus Christ is to be without excuse.
Otherwise, the excuse for rejection would always be that that the flesh made it impossible to choose for Christ.
Therefore that person can not be judged!

Can you get this straight, please?
Free willers conflate the natural man with the spiritual man. When will you get that straight?

They ascribe to former what is only possible of the latter. Please get that straight.

I doubt you will. But you love to pretend.

1Corinthians2-14.png

The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians ch 2 v 14

Pelagianheretics.png

Pelagian heretics insist man is inherently good. From within the hearts of men come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, debauchery, envy, slander, arrogance, and foolishness. Mark 7 verses 21-22 Every inclination of man's heart is evil from his youth. Genesis 8 verse 21b Who can bring out clean from unclean? No one! Job 14 verse 4 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Matthew 7 verse 18

Why is anyone looking for someone who has been dead for hundreds of years? LOL.

So stupid. But these FWers love their lies. Calvin did not murder anyone. He did not hold
judicial authority in Geneva and was not even a citizen at the time of the initial arrest.
The sentence of burning at the stake was decreed by the city's magistrate council.

Man’s heart is deceitful above all things and incurable (Jer 17 v 9), himself full of evil (Mark 7 v 21-23), loves darkness rather than light (John 3 v 19), cannot come to God on his own (John 6 v 44), does not seek for God (Rom 3 v 10-12), is helpless and ungodly (Rom 5 v 6), nothing good dwells in his flesh (Rom 7 v 18), is a slave of sin (Rom 6 v 20, John 8 v 34, 2 Tim 2 v 26), cannot receive spiritual things (1 Cor 2 v 14), is dead in his sins (Eph 2 v 1), is by nature a child of wrath (Eph 2 v 3), is at enmity with God (Eph 2 v 15), hostile to God and cannot submit to God's law (Rom 8 v 7), blinded by Satan (2 Cor 4 v 4), hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his evil deeds will be exposed (John 3 v 20). Therefore we rightfully conclude in accordance with the conditions described of the unregenerated man in Scripture that his inborn inclination is to reject God. Thanks be to God, Who appoints people to believe (Acts 13 v 48), chooses who is to be holy and blameless (Eph 1 v 4), predestines us to adoption (Eph 1 v 5), calls according to His purpose (2 Tim 1 v 9), chooses us for salvation (2 Thes 2 v 13), leads us to and grants us repentance (Rom 2 v 4, 2 Tim 2 v 24-25), grants the act of believing (Phil 1 v 29), works faith in the believer (John 6 v 28-29), causes us to be born again (1 Pet 1 v 3), born again not by our will, effort or desire but by His will and desire (John 1 v 12-13), grants that we come to Jesus (John 6 v 65), draws people to Himself (John 6 v 44), predestines us to salvation (Rom 8 v 29-30), and circumcises our heart (with the heart one believes [Rom 10 v 10]) as promised in Deut 30 v 6, all according to His purpose (Phil 2 v 13). The stony ground of man’s wicked heart is not good soil. A bad tree cannot bring forth good fruit. Jesus said so! (Matt 7 v 18 + 12 v 33; Luke 6 v 43). All this and more weighed against zero verses articulating the so-called “free will” of the natural man, which is a vain man-exalting philosophically based doctrine erroneously and egregiously elevated to Bible truth. Praise God and to His glory, what is impossible with man is possible with God.

Oh, I thought you were telling us about a specific person, someone who fell away after receiving the gospel message because
they did not believe they were chosen. So it just looked like an excuse someone was using to apostatize. My apologies.

Jesus does save those He wants. He reveals Himself to whom He chooses. This is how people come to
know Him personally. His Word will accomplish what He wants, what He pleases. It does not return void.

Those given to Jesus do come to Him. The text does not say maybe or perhaps they will.
His sheep hear and follow Him. They were sheep before He went looking for them.

These things are explicitly articulated in Scripture. Not everyone hears. Some say
everyone does. FWers say everyone does when Jesus told us everyone does not.

God says He will make those who are not His people, His people. The Bible also says He circumcises our hearts
so we may love Him, and live, this comes from obedience, we will obey be cause He causes us to. Obedience

does not come from someone with a God hating heart, which is the estate of the natural man. I mentioned
this to a relative newcomer a few day ago and they scoffed at the idea; people react emotionally to what the

Bible says because they don't like it. Of course when anyone says these things and get that kind of reaction,
other free willers agree because they don't like what the Bible says, either. They contradict and deny many verses.
What is your take on the Parable of the Sower? Where the devil comes and takes the word, so they don't believe or those who receive the word but due to hard times or the pleasures of this world fall away ?

The stony ground of the natural man's heart is not good soil for growing the Seed of God's Word.

It is with the heart that one believes. The natural man is hostile to God, opposed to the Spiritual things of God, which he can neither receive nor understand. He is a slave to sin and lover of darkness refusing to come into the light, blinded by the god of this world.

it is there for all is it not?

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, It teaches us to say “No”
to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in
this present age,." Titus 2:11-12
The Greek word translated "teaches" is not your typical word for a teacher educating a student.
It means to teach by allowing someone to do wrong. Allowing that one to be immoral, to find himself hurting badly as a result.

In that way many unbelievers learned to avoid immorality as they get older.
That is why we see many unbelievers settle down to live a conventional stabilized moral lives.
