from-Rom7-18Gal5-17Isa64-6-Job-14-4Mark10-18Matt7-18Luke18-27.png

I know that nothing good lives in my flesh... For the flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. Each of us has become like something unclean, and our iniquities carry us away like the wind. Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one. No one is good except God alone. A bad tree cannot bear good fruit. “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” from: Romans 7 v 18, Galatians 5 v 17, Isaiah 64 v 6, Job 14 v 4, Mark 10 v 18, Matthew 7 v 18, Luke 18 v 27

If it be fated that this man, e.g., be good and the other evil, neither is the former meritorious nor the latter to be blamed. And again unless the human race have the power of avoiding evil and choosing good by free choice, they are not accountable for their actions, of whatever kind they be. ... For neither would he be worthy of reward or praise did he not of himself choose the good, but were created for this end; nor, if he were evil, would he be worthy of punishment, not being evil of himself, but being able to be nothing else than what he was made for.

The First Apology of Justin Martyr (chap 43)

An example of what the early church believed
I have been posting Scripture all along, which does not teach free will. Read more of Romans
plus all I have posted. None of it supports the fantasy of the free will of the natural man.

I thank and glorify God for setting me free. I know Who my Savior is.

The natural man is unable to obey God. Scripture says so. Yep. That is the choice they make. Disobedience.

The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor is it able to do so.

What do you think of this?

Romans11-32s.png

Romans 11 v 32 God has consigned everyone to disobedience so that He may have mercy on all.
:)

Romans 11:32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

The whole of Romans is about Israels disobeidence to God, so much so that God divorced them, but he is going to have mercy on them, like it says in Hebrews and Jeremiah

Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

Romans 7 v 18-24a I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh; for I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do. Instead, I keep on doing the evil I do not want to do. And if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. So this is the principle I have discovered: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law. But I see another law at work in my body, warring against the law of my mind and holding me captive to the law of sin that dwells within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord!

 The overarching theme of Romans is the universal need for God's righteousness,
because we have none of our own and flesh cannot please God- that includes generating
faith which pleases God- teaching that both Jews and Gentiles are saved by grace through faith.

Interestingly, the Greek word pantas used for all there refers collectively to both Jews and Gentiles and not every individual without exception.

Jesus when incarnated did not stop being God.

He experienced a fully human life, while also manifesting His divinity.

He expressed His God nature by walking on the water, feeding the 5,000, calming the storm, turning water into wine, casting out evil spirits, healing the sick, restoring sight to the blind, raising the dead, and forgiving sins.
All power Jesus walked in did not come from His own Deity.
It came from the Holy Spirit.

And it came to pass on one of those days, that he was teaching; and there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, who were come out of every village of Galilee and Judaea and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was with him to heal." Luke 5:17

It would not have to say, "and the power of the Lord was with him to heal" if he were functioning as God.
He would be the power to heal in that case!

The Holy Spirit supplied the needed power.

Read carefully please, and look it up in as many translations as needed to see that he walked as a man in power.

If he was functioning as God?
The following passage could not have been written!

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses,
but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin." Hebrews 4:15

Remember?
God can not be tempted! (James 1:13)

Yet? Jesus was tempted like we are... in every way!
How was that possible?
Because he denied himself to be as God in manifested power. He chose to, and was being as a man in power!

Who {Christ}, though He eternally existed in the essence of God,
did not consider being equal with God something to be seized and held,
but emptied himself
by taking the form of a slave,
by becoming in the likeness of people.
And being found in appearance like a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to the point of death,
that is, death on a cross." Philippians 2:6-8

Therefore...
When He was tempted?
As a man he was walking in the Spirit, and he was developing thinking needed for a man to overcome every temptation a man can face.

That is why it says that He is the author and finisher of our faith!

grace and peace .............

Adam was not God.
Angels are not God.

Sorry I forgot we are only to use a few verses of the entire Bible :)
Redemption begins with divine initiation rather than human effort, but heishere is not all there
when it comes to Scripture truths such as this, and actually teaches that God is not required at all
in the process of coming to believe, which is about as far as one can get from Scripture Truth.

In fact she applauds those who say such things as: God does not act unilaterally in matters of salvation
and if He were to do so it would make Him an unjust tyrannical monster kidnapping people against
their free will, and make the offer of repentance fraudulent. That is not even the worst of it.
But some of the disgusting things these people say are just... too disgusting.

Yes I would agree, Paul is really reaching out to his countrymen and it has a strong eschatological component they would experience in their lifetime.
The church in Rome is also experiencing fracture between Jew and Gentile.

No. Anyone who truly seeks to draw near to God has already been saved, not the other way around. Since Christ alone is the Savior—the author (pioneer) and finisher (perfecter) of faith—true faith can exist only where Christ is present. This shows that such a person is saved, because Christ does not give true faith to everyone. Therefore, those who truly seek God do so because of that faith; without Christ, a person does not possess true, lasting faith. As verse Rom 3:11 indicates, the natural, unsaved man does not truly seek after God, because they lack the spiritual understanding and discernment needed to do so.

[Rom 3:11 KJV] 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

[Heb 12:2 KJV] 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

[Heb 12:2 NIV] 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Rogerg: "Anyone who truly seeks to draw near to God has already been saved"

Hebrews 11:6: "And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:6 is not written in the past tense but the future tense.

You are rewarded when you seek Him.

You are not rewarded before you seek Him.

Just read the verse again.

One would think an educated person would understand it is with the will one makes a choice. No will, no choices.

And freedom is always restrained, if not, you have chaos.

Some people like to create other definitions of free will, as in it means being able to control the consequences of one's decisions.

That is just plain silly.

And free will does not mean every decision is made without influence but that a person can realize the various influence(S) and still make a decision that is not determined by that influence.

Questions for Calvinist

Is God angry and grieved with sin ?

Psalms 7:11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

Is sin the plan of God ? Is it His secret will? His soveriegn plan?

So Is God angry and grieved with His own secret and soveriegn will?

If...
SIN IS GODS PLAN
and,
GOD IS ANGRY ANS GRIEVED WITH SIN

The conclusion is ...

GOD IS ANGRY AND GRIEVED WITH HIS OWN PLAN

One would think educated people would understand the difference between making choices and free will.
Are choices made without free will?

BTW, is the issue with you that mankind does not possess ultimate and absolute free will?

Please tell me this is not the issue.
