However, sin is written about in two different ways in the bible. One way you can stop sinning, the other you will not whilst in a body of flesh.
Please prove this..

I agree that the flesh can not stop sinning. But we are told to die to the flesh and live in the Spirit.

The crucified flesh can not control us.

Rom 6:1-2
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Rom 6:4-7
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Rom 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

John was indeed not referring to what Paul described as being a slave to sin. But he spoke in the present tense: If we claim....
But there is a difference between not being a slave to sin and not committing sin. And Im sure, in your own denomination people would also view sin in two different ways.
Did you read that list I put up to 2Christ?
Sin is sin

2 different states ???

No it is sin, singular

Please prove this..
Paul said if you are a slave to sin it leads to death
But he also told born again christians in the present tense:
The letter of the ten commandments kills
Im sure you would believe to transgresss the letter of those laws is sin
But common sense should tell you
Would you expect someone who joined your church to be sinless in order to be saved? Im sure you would not
But would you accept someone as saved who got drunk every night, had multiple affairs, was a habitual thief and constantly used foul language? Im sure you would not
Therefore, you would also view sin in two different ways

Here’s a sample list of what it would take never to commit sin, assuming you believe it would be sin not to obey Jesus teaching. In order not to sin, you must perfectly without slip obey the following list, and more besides. Let’s start with the Ten Commandments:

Do you ever put anything before God in your life? NO

Do you ever build any graven images in your mind?Never

Do you always honour your parents without exception. always did
even when i did not know jesus.
Have you ever looked at a woman with lust in your eye? (Jesus ratified the commandment) as a a married man, never.

Have you ever fibbed about anyone, or been untruthful about a person in anyway? once it twice and regretted it

Have you dwelt on any impure thought? that is my test right now, but overcoming with help from God.

Do you ever desire ANYTHING of your neighbours, whether material goods or a member of their household? never not interestes in material things never was.

Do you fully obey the law relating to the inner man, the law only you and God need know you break?oh yes very well now

If someone asked to lend from you would we gladly lend to them without ever expecting anything back?yes always did many owe me money and i never collected and never will.

If someone stole from you, would you offer them more than what they stole with nothing but love in your heart for them? im not certain never happenned before

Do you not invite friends or family home for a meal, but rather the poor, blind, lame and beggars? i love in a rich little village there is no poor here but I do give to anyone who asks, when im in town I do always I kep moneys in my pocket for this.

If you have ever fasted, have you even hinted to anyone you are fasting? yes nut not often enough

Do you truly in your heart love your enemies, those who may malign, harass or persecute you? dont have enemies except satam and hos minions that want me dead

Do you leap for joy if you are persecuted? in a sense yes i remember Jesus words.

Do you always truly love all those you come into contact with in thought, word or deed, constantly, including your enemies, those who may be unkind to you, persecute or harass you? yes always did, i used to work in s place , a lot pf competition and backstabbing nut i always let it pass and never complained once and always helped them when they needed.
I have answered your questions above, but should not have, it will be used against me, just wait and see.

I never said that i do not sin but im much much better than I used to be almost none now if you want to know.

I also have gifts, I have learned to place a name on it : "the gift of knowledge" and another but I am not giving put this one out.

God wants a changed heart.

In fact I remember my first sin, a lie, I was in catholic school grade 1. we had to go to confession! ouch unexpected. the priest came out with the usual verbiage wanted to know my SINS? well believe it is not I had to invent one! As I could remember none, truly I was a good kid and could not say. that was my first lie! the second one, A girl next me , i was in to grade 2, me left on her tiny desk a shiny stone, I took it, oh boy the guilt! I saw her disappointment when she saw it was missing. I could not think of anything else, the next morning I put it back exactly where I found it I felt bad for years to come and still do, that should tell you a bit about me. very far from perfect but want to be, but on my own I cant do it without the Holy spirit. I am not good Only God is Good as you know as I know.

When I got saved, (I was young) I became aware of my shortcomings/sin before God in a very real and profound way. I told some fibs(as kids and adults do) I felt terrible about it. I did not love all others as I should, I felt bad about that too, I got angry at times as well, and the same thing happened. But then I reached puberty and along came impure thoughts, I felt dirty and rotten for having them, I felt such guilt.
I got crushed terribly due to all my imperfections
I agree with you, God wants a changed heart
Im truly glad you are growing in holiness
It is also great, you rely on the Holy Spirit for change

If we sin. We have an advocate, we have a mediator, we have the blood of Christ to forgive us of sin.

But this does not mean we should continue in sin.

Rom 6:1-2
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Rom 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Are we able to be free from sin?

Im afraid reading the bible as one literal book does not lead to discerning the truth.
You I'm sure believe sin is the transgression of the law.
In Rom6:1&2 for example, is Paul saying believers are dead to transgerssing the letter of the law, the letter he says is the letter that kills, the letter he says you cannot be justified by obeying?
Have believers been made free from transgressing the letter of the law?
You know, the internet has been an eye opener to me
One woman who believed all of Torah should be followed told me, and I quote:
''Thoughts are not covered by Torah and they are minimal''
Another woman, who professed not to commit sin told me, and I quote:
''Sexual fantasies are not sin.''
Another woman told me the Ten Commandments do not cover lust.
I can only speak for myself, I have always known sin is sin whether committed outwardly or inwardly, something Paul for one agreed with.
No, you will never be free from transgressing the letter of the law, anyone who believes they are or can be does not understand what that entails

When I was young, people would randomly quote the letter of scripture and insist it was fully followed. And I believed they must be fully following it themselves as that is what they insisted of others. I imagined they were all nigh on sinless people, and knew I wasn't.
I became crushed, oppressed, downtrodden(Luke4:18)

there were many covenants the new testament is speaking mostly of the (Mosaic) covenant with the chosen people of God, saved from the Egyptians that God brought out towards the promised Land. the Covenant with Abraham was different,

you are very confused and try to pass and force your pseudo knowledge on people, its a terrible thing to do.

here are a list of the covenant God made with his people;

Throughout the Bible, God made several covenants. Some were made with individuals, others with the nation of Israel, and the New Covenant was made through Jesus Christ. Here are the major covenants in the order they appear in Scripture.

1. The Covenant with Noah (All Living Creatures)

After the flood, God promised never again to destroy the whole earth by a flood. The rainbow was given as the sign of this everlasting covenant.

And I establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. (Genesis 9:11)

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. (Genesis 9:13)

2. The Covenant with Abraham

God promised Abraham descendants as numerous as the stars, the land of Canaan, and that through his offspring all nations would be blessed. Circumcision was given as the sign of this covenant.

And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and be thou a blessing. (Genesis 12:2)

And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed. (Genesis 22:18)

And ye shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of a covenant betwixt me and you.(Genesis 17:11)

3. The Covenant with Isaac

God renewed the promises made to Abraham and confirmed them to his son Isaac.

And I will establish the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; and I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven... and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed. (Genesis 26:3-4)

4. The Covenant with Jacob (Israel)

God confirmed the same covenant to Jacob, changing his name to Israel and promising that kings and nations would come from him.

And the land which I gave unto Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.(Genesis 35:12)

5. The Sinai (Mosaic) Covenant

After bringing Israel out of Egypt, God entered into a covenant with the nation at Mount Sinai. He gave them His commandments and promised blessings for obedience.

Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be mine own possession from among all peoples. (Exodus 19:5)

And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even the ten commandments.(Deuteronomy 4:13)

6. The Covenant with the Tribe of Levi (Priesthood)

God established a covenant with the priests descended from Levi, giving them the responsibility of serving before Him.

My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him that he might fear. (Malachi 2:5)

For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD.(Deuteronomy 18:5)

7. The Covenant with Phinehas

Because of Phinehas' zeal for God's holiness, God promised his descendants a lasting priesthood.

Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace: and it shall be unto him, and to his seed after him, the covenant of an everlasting priesthood. (Numbers 25:12-13)

8. The Covenant with David

God promised David that his throne would endure forever, ultimately fulfilled in Jesus, the Son of David.

Thy house and thy kingdom shall be made sure for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever. (2 Samuel 7:16)

I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant. (Psalm 89:3)

9. The New Covenant

The prophets foretold a new covenant in which God would write His law on people's hearts, forgive sins, and give His Spirit. Jesus declared this covenant at the Last Supper through His own blood.

Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah. (Jeremiah 31:31)

I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it. (Jeremiah 31:33)

This cup is the new covenant in my blood, even that which is poured out for you. (Luke 22:20)

If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments. (John 14:15)

Other Covenants Mentioned in Scripture

These are also called covenants, though they are either renewals of earlier covenants or more specific promises.

The Covenant at Moab

Moses renewed God's covenant with the second generation of Israel before they entered the Promised Land.

These are the words of the covenant which Jehovah commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb. (Deuteronomy 29:1)

God's Covenant with Day and Night

God used the regular cycle of day and night as a picture of the certainty of His promises.

If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night... then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant. (Jeremiah 33:20-21)

The Everlasting Covenant

Several passages speak of God's everlasting covenant. Depending on the context, this refers either to His enduring promises to Abraham or to the everlasting New Covenant established through the Messiah.

And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant. (Genesis 17:7)

Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them. (Ezekiel 37:26)

Taken together, these covenants show God's unfolding plan throughout history. He made promises to Noah for the whole earth, to Abraham and his descendants, to Israel at Sinai, to David concerning the coming King, and finally established the New Covenant through Jesus. Rather than replacing God's earlier promises, the New Covenant brings them to their intended fulfillment by offering forgiveness, writing God's law on the hearts of His people, and extending the blessing promised to Abraham to all nations.

No need to reply.
N0 cant Read all that .just say witch concerns you ,? Myself i only know Jesus as Lord and God seated in the Throne my covenant if i have to say would be the baptism and then the baptism of the Holy Spirit that it

The flesh will do what it does, but the flesh is not the spirit and the spirit is not the flesh unless the spirit is united in purpose with the flesh, to serve itself, and I think that is, officially, what we know as a hardened heart. Concerning living in the spirit, Rom 8: 2-4 tells why there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Rom 8:1).

2For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death.-note the distinction of the Spirit of life, which set you free from the law of sin and death (i.e., the law that promises that, if you sin, then you die, is the law you are set free from).

3For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin. He thus condemned sin in the flesh, -if the law was weakened by the flesh then even spirits that desired to do the law were weakened by the flesh.

So that you don't forget where I left off: "...God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin. He thus condemned sin in the flesh,"
4so that the righteous standard of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.-"He thus condemned sin in the flesh so that
the righteous standard of the law (that is, when you sin, you die) might be fulfilled in us,
who do not walk according to the flesh (which in all appearance yet lives) but according to the Spirit (refer back to Rom 8:2 speaking of "the law of the Spirit of life, which set you free from the law of sin and death." The law of the Spirit of life was able to do what? the law of sin and death was powerless to do. What? was the law of sin and death powerless to being weakened by the flesh, make you righteous or is it talking about it being powerless to make you serve it? How you answer that question will color how you characterize the Spirit of life as either making you obey the law or making you righteous by another, better, law that no less satisfies the law (by condemning sin in the flesh as required by the law, and carrying out the judgment, as required by the law, though His own
Son as an offering).

So that we may walk (in the Spirit of life) in newness of life (as would logically follow).

Not a legalist? You are living under the old covenant. The old covenant is the Law.

That's not what he said and you know it... When you change someone's argument to make it look worse, you show that you no longer believe in what you're saying and/or you've realised they're may be right in what they're saying

Thanks for sharing
The fact is we have all sinned..
But praise God for the promise of salvation.

Salvation from sin.

There isn't 2 types of sin but there are 2 ways of being saved from sin.

Both are a gift from Jesus.
Both are acquired by faith

First is Justification
Second is sanctification.

The sins of the past are forgiven and forgotten when we confess and repent.

But repentance leads to sanctification and not doing those sins any more.
What was once a bad habit can be overcome. Praise God.

We can aim higher and higher by looking at Jesus the perfect example. And Jesus delights in giving us the victory.

Paul told born again christians in the present tense:
The letter of the Ten Commandments kills.
Please quote. Which verse,?

2Co 3:6-7
6 .....for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, ....

it is a misunderstanding of the law.

Paul explains it in detail in Roms 7.

Rom 7:9-11
9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. 10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. 11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

was it the commandments or sin that causes death?

Rom 7:12-14
12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. 13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. 14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

it is not the law that kills but it is the law that causes sin to be revealed and sin kills.

can you see the link.
The letter of the Ten Commandments kills.
And, if people actually understand what obeying that law entails, they should know why Paul stated that
Thou shalt not, no wiggle room for error, perfectly obey that law or stand guilty before it. And you can transgress that law without any outward act being neccessary

So are you saying that the solution to the problem is to remove the law. ???

Rom 7:7-8
7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. 8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

Are you saying that removing the law that identities the sin is God's solution to free us from death?

This should not be hard to understand:
Thou shalt NOT lust/dwell on any impure thought
Thou shalt NOT desire anything of your neighbours whether material goods or a member of their household
Thou shalt NOT transgress the law relating to the inner person
Perfectly obey the letter of the ten commandments or stand guilty before that letter.
Thou shalt NOT, no wiggle room for error.

I grew up under the letter of thou shalt NOT, I know that letter kills.

It is no longer an external written down law, but one written in the mind and placed on the heart of a believer. You must know in your mind what is in your mind. So, every believer should instinctively know God does not want them to steal, commit adultery, murder, take His name in vain, covet, lie about others. Therefore, the words ''ten commandments'' should be redundant under the new covenant.
And as what was written in applicable law is now in the hearts of believers, it means in their hearts they desire to live as God wants them to live
The words ten commandments were for the old covenant, people under an external law, not for those with an internal law.

Not a legalist? You are living under the old covenant. The old covenant is the Law.
You need to stop presuming things.
Making claims that are not true.

Your fully convinced in your thinking but that does not make it correct.

People that delight in obedience, and believe in obeying the 10 commandments are not living under the old covenant unless they are trying to save themselves by their own human efforts.

Keeping the 10 commandments does not automaticly quality as legalism. Or old covenant living.

Legalism by definition is not obedience. But obedience done in order to save yourself. It is motivated by gaining security in your own works.

Faith leads to obedience, grace motivates us to obey.
I obey (not to earn salvation) but because of the salvation that has been gifted to me.

There isn't 2 types of sin but there are 2 ways of being saved from sin.
You are in denial. You, alongside everyone else would accept someone as a christian if they were not sinless/they committed sin
But I'm sure you would not accept someone as a christian if they lived a wanton lifestyle of sin.
So some who commit sin, because they are not perfect in their flesh you accept as christians, others who sin you would not accept as christians

Are there believers who, if they bore false witness, coveted, committed adultery, stole, took the Lord's name in vain would have to think:
I've transgressed the ten commandments?
I wouldn't, that phrase would not enter my head. I would simply have an inner conviction I had acted as I should not act

This should not be hard to understand:
Thou shalt NOT lust/dwell on any impure thought

I agree that these laws should be internal. Written on the heart's and in the minds.

An outward keeping of these laws mean nothing if it isn't for the right reason.

Keeping them for the wrong motives is useless. Because the reason God wants them in the heart is to transform us.

If we are keeping them because we love Jesus and want to reflect His holy character, we will become like Jesus.

Psa 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Psa 1:1-3
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, .... 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Psa 40:8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

David said "thy law is within my heart."
This was internal..

Do you think that the word of God magically goes into the mind or do we need to spend time reading and studying it.

By reading the 10 commandments you can clearly see what God defines as sin.

Don't presume that the right understanding of God's word will be written on your heart, when you neglect to study the truth set before you.
