1 Peter 2 v 7-8 To you who believe, then, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” and, “A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.” They stumble because they disobey the word- and to this they were appointed.

For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe
ESV.

For since, in God’s wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of what is preached.
NLT

Complete contradicts unconditional election.. and neither does it state those who are gifted belief.
It does exactly the opposite. It establishes the necessity of grace.

Just as in Romans 1:16, the power of God is necessary for belief, and is only effectual to those who believe.

No he is not.

NASB
For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

CSB
For since, in God’s wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of what is preached.

NLT
Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.
That's exactly what He is saying. If God doesn't act, no one will be saved.

Right, but Paul isn't suggesting that every member of the elect will experience divine revelation. Instead, he argues that he is the foundation of the building because he received divine revelation.
Nope. He is blessed because His understanding came as a result of the revelation of the Father. And the rock being built upon is this revelation of the Father; by it, Jesus builds His church.

Yes if one employs the no-rules eisegiesis, where I can make every verse say what I want it to say.

The meaning that Paul is delivering is actually pretty evident in the better translations, but see this is what happens when one blinds themselves with false doctrine.

There are certain topics, like this one, that get rehashed continuously on a discussion board. To what end?

Really?

Those who know, don't need what they know reiterated by their peers.

Those who do not know will never come to the understanding through human argument, debate, and reason. Awakening is through God's choice alone.

Well, you repeatedly neglected to answer if you had been set free in Christ.

I suppose as a FWer it is not something you can admit.

It would suggest you were not free before that.

Nope. Can't admit to that.
Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Hebrews 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Its Bible101

Yes best to avoid false man invented doctrine it distort everything.

Good advice... no point, it will take an act of God, best to not fall into the false doctrine ditch.

It literally says that it pleased God to save. Salvation is by grace.

It pleased God to use foolishness as opposed to wisdom,

The people believed in the message although it was foolish and because they believed God saved them!

Beyond belief really!!

And yet the FW claim is that they were free before being set free.

That everyone is.

Aren't all those verses referring to what God is doing? In other words, all speak to God exercising His power to effect change in/on/through individuals?

Wow.

It pleased God to save. It pleased God to exercise His power on behalf of individuals.

How? He employs preaching the word.

No different than Ephesians 2...for by grace are we saved through faith.

Read the verses, they have nothing to do with Free Will
I know. There are NO verses on the free will of the natural man.

I have said this many times. He is enslaved to sin.

And two verses were about being set free, and being in bondage.

Those do have to do with the will of the natural man. He is not free and must be set free.

We can not have eternal life without God - its either death or life. As humans we do not have immortality without God. Everything else you are reading into the verses.

Sad, truly sad.
Just make it up.

We can't have anything apart from God. Everything we have has been given to us. Except, it seems, salvation.

How is it that a Christian can do nothing apart from Christ, but an unsaved person can do things apart from Christ?
