I don't come to church for dating, even if I do there's no partner available. And as I said, I'm too old and too busy and too cynical for that, there's no time or energy anyway.

And therefore, nobody else should bother with it, either? I have no problem with anyone choosing to stay single. But I have no problem with anyone with choosing to date, either. Nor do I have a problem with anyone getting engaged or getting married if it's a healthy and godly relationship.

Yes, and that's why it's better not to marry at all than risk marrying an ungodly partner and/or in an ungodly way.
That's is your personal opinion.

Scripture says it is good to marry to have helper.

Single people can idolize other stuff too.

Nor do I, but dating is not biblical - YOU determine it's not good for you to be alone, YOU pursue whom YOU deem the right partner, and YOU join yourself together with them. Modern invention, not biblical.

No, that's the disciples' opinion, Matt. 19:10. Are you a disciple?

Scripture also says "he who gives her in marriage does well, but he who does not give her in marriage does better." Nobody is entitled to a "helper".

Not sure about it.

Abraham sent his old servant to get a wife for Issac. The old servant prayed, ask asked for signs.
Jacob met Rachel, that kind of like a dating story. He worked 7 years in her household. Long time get to know each other.
Ruth met boaz, she worked in his field. She pursued him.
So modern dating get to know each other do have some biblical roots. Of course not intimacy outside of marriage.

God said it is not good for Adam to be alone .

Then be sure. Isaac didn't go out to see Rachel, his marriage was arranged; so was Jacob, he pursued Rachel and he got tricked, he was arranged to marry Leah first; As for Ruth, she was only asking to glean in the field, it was Boaz who later redeemed Ruth through a land deed, there was no dating.

Read ruth 3. I mean naomi pretty much told ruth to get all dolled up, crawl into bed with a drunk boaz and propose to him. Not that I advocate other people do that, but that's how that story goes.

"Dating" basically is getting to know the person. Whether by parents, servant, or self.

The old servant observed rebecca hard working kindness, .... bring gold gifts 🎁 to show sincere 💛.

Jacob loved Rachel s beauty.

Boaz noticed Ruth kindness, hardworking, loving to mom in law, ...

Marriage is a beautiful thing, not just about worldly stuff, but through marriage, it builds up people s characters, training people to be stronger, more loving, more forgiving.... many good biblical virtues. Even broken marriage can help a person to build stronger faith.

But if one prefer single, totally good too. That's possible God put that in his her heart to enjoy single life.

Description is not prescription. Besides, it was repeatedly mentioned that Boaz was a "relative", they were related. I wouldn't date my cousin or other relative, so no thanks.

Yeah, marriage is, but dating is not, especially online.

So God's a Puppetmaster who runs every aspect of your love life? Remember, in 1 Corinthians 7:39, Paul says a widow can marry whoever she wants, as long as they're a Christian. The Bible doesn't teach us anything about "soulmates" or even about "waiting on God" to do everything for you.

Absolutely agree you said online. Online is not dating, is only pen pal.

Real dating is face to face meeting in person.

Some long distance folks might be ok to meet on zoom. I am not familiar with thst. But I heard many successful stories.

Myself I insist in person meet.

Thanks, I'm not a widow, nor do I know any widow.

And I insist you go find something meaningful and productive to do, something that helps you prepared for whatever hell may come in the near future. Myself I have no person to meet in person.

What I meant was that the Bible doesn't teach us anything about "soulmates," or the idea that you have to wait on "God's timing" to bring you one specific partner.

All it teaches is that God brought Eve to Adam and gave her to him, biblical characters did wait on God's timing and arrangement had relatively good marriage, those who did it on their own accord had troubles. Another bottom line principle is to bond with a godly partner, if there's none, then stay single and don't settle.

Waiting and actively searching can be happening at the same time. Abraham sent his servant to actively searching, preparing camel fleet, gold, praying, very specific.
Ruth also very actively pursuing.

As long as do it right by God, it is totally good to be proactive and waiting at the same time.

Yes, but Isaac himself didn't, neither did he even ask for a wife, that's the point.
