Is praying in public against a direct command from Jesus? Does this also include church and public meals?

My family gathers and prays with each other all the time. Sometimes for us, sometimes for someone else. If you think God is against that, you're misunderstanding the Bible.
1. no. 2. church prayer, public prayer & meals are public prayer & it's totally fine.
Without giving it alot of thought, I would think the value of prayers done out loud, is the same as practice before the real game. Or getting someone else, children perhaps the experience to graft on later in life.
No, you don't make a religion out of one verse. Jesus was talking about a heart attitude. He wasn't saying don't pray anywhere outside your bedroom or don't pray in public.
Your comparing how Jesus prayed, and how he told us to pray.
And you assuming He was praying aloud.
Im misunderstanding scripture?
I take to heart when Jesus tells us to pray, fast, and give in secret with no exceptions given.
Where do you see the version of prayer your presenting?
Do you think it's ok to tell others when your fasting, or when you give?
I had a friend that was in need of prayer and we were in public. I quietly prayed for her. God is not against that. Ever done an open air service? Ever stop at an accident on the road, been in a hospital? All occasions to pray and God hasn't forbidden that.
All those examples you gave would be perfect if you did them in secret. And you could have done them in secret.
But you chose to do it a different way. Jesus tells us what the reward is for those decisions.
I look at it like this.
Our relationship with Jesus is an intimate relationship, just like our relationship with our husband or wife.
How would our husband or wife feel if everyone knew the details of our intimate relationship with each other?
It could be even more precious with Jesus...
Jesus asking or telling us that secrecy is required isn't out of line.
And it just hit me!
Maybe part of the reason to pray in secret is so satan doesn't hear the prayer and get a jump on trying to hinder what's being prayed for?
First of all every Christian must follow their Spirit guided conscience in regard to this topic.. So if you are convicted that you should not engage in public prayer then don't do it and if you are convicted that you should join in public prayer then do it..
But as for the scripture on the topic.. We must take in ALL that is written on the subject, let me quote the passage and point out some critical words..
Matthew 6:5 - Matthew 6:6
(Matthew 6:5-6) "¶ And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. {6} But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."
Note in the above scriptures it is not only about how they are praying ( Public ) but WHY they are praying in public to be SEEN by other men.. They are doing it to obtain social approval / credibility / status with the community around them.. Their prayers are not focused on God but focused on impressing other human beings.. So it can be said that the transgression is not praying in public but praying in public to be seen by other human beings to obtain that approval of men..
No, you believe whatever you want to believe, up to you. But that's baloney. Why would I walk away from someone who needed prayer? Jesus wouldn't. No, utter nonsense. And I thought I'd seen a lot here. Try evangelism, you'll learn you're wrong. smh

Don't know if you're a brother or sister but understand, God hears and He will move. Satan will not stop the move of God. You do not have to fear being bold in public for God.
We were talking about my friend who needed prayer and I prayed for them because they needed that prayer then. You said that was wrong in your opinion.
