I’m trying to reconcile what scripture says with the common belief that abortion is murder. Can anyone point me to scripture that builds that gap?

The proper interpretation of "kill" in the law is murder. God commanded Israel to kill at times and the death sentence was mandated for a number of offences against the law. Self defence is permissible as is defending others and your country. In an ideal world, killing would not be necessary. The world we live in is far from ideal.
Yes , God absolutely did command Israel to go to war . If u read the Old Testament carefully , u will c that many times God actually destroyed the enemies of Israel before the battle even began and , when Israel went to war because God had commanded them to do so , they rarely suffered any casualties . When they went to war without Gods blessing , they always lost and suffered heavy casualties . What lessons can we take from those incidents . Also , we r under the grace of God through Christ , who commanded us to turn the other cheek .

I don't have the physical capability of defending myself or defending anyone else , against someone intent on slaughtering me or anyone I know . So , if I survived such an attack , it would b by the grace and mercy of God , not by my own ability .
Some would say if Gods grace factored in, a devil intent on doing evil wouldn't come near.

It takes less than 7 pounds of pressure to pull a trigger.

I live in a country with extremely tight gun laws ( thankfully ) so owning a gun isn't an option for me or anyone I know .

' don't ever think it is biblical to die passive ' 😲 think about that statement of yours .
I did. And it sp
ues to many a Christian I know who have told me, God says love your enemies. Resist not an evil person.
And as such they would die in the face of imminent mortal threat by an attacker rather than fight back.

Even if their family,babies,children,
were going to die?
Yes.
They would not lift a hand to stop it.

That's dying passive.

Seed is spirit.Backed by scripture saying we are in the image of God, and that God is spirit. The seed is Christ. It comes in his image.See how it goes from man to woman to being made flesh?
All things consist through the blood of his cross, and so it goes spirit, water, blood everytime. In all things they consist by his essence.
God reconciles it unto himself in this way.The seed is made an offering unto the Ark when a man and woman get together as one.

Jeremiah 1:5 might be specific to Jeremiah alone but the Commandment Do Not KILL is universal. A Zygote is the union of Seed and Egg therefore LIFE. So as the Zygote becomes a Fetus and eventually an unborn Child it is all 100% Life that God Commands to not KILL.

The Bible commands, thou shalt not murder.

The Bible also does not clearly state when life begins. But man became a living soul when God breathed into Adams nostrils.

So,when Adam was given breath,he was alive,a living soul,to God.

Technically, Adam was a lump of clay until the Breath of God gave him life. The union of Seed and Egg is the Spark that ignites life. Anything from that point onward is removing life which is Murder or to Kill life.

Lev. 20:1-5
This is, to me, the clearest statement that sacrificing children for personal benefit is prohibited. I don't think it can be any clearer than this.

Technically Adam was dust.
Genesis 2:7
Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

"Turn the other cheek" has nothing to do with violence. You will have heard the expression, "A slap in the face". It's a hurtful insult. Yes, a slap can sting but no one will die from it, directly at least. There are records of slave owners humiliating a slave publicly if the slave did not meet expectations. There are records of humiliated slaves taking their own lives as a result.

Christians can expect to be insulted. Lord Jesus said not to react in response. That's all. As far as the military, I served in the Australian Navy for 8-1/2 years. I spent just one week in a war zone (Vietnam) and the risk of combat was slight. I do believe in just wars. Australians would be speaking Japanese and I would be speaking German if no one had fought to defend us. Defenders included Major Ian Thomas. He wrote, "The Saving Life of Christ", the one of the first Christian books that I read as a new believer. He served during WW2 and never lost a soldier under his command.

God led wars. God commanded massacres. God killed men, women, babies, the unborn. God drowned all life on earth except those whom he chose to save from his wrath.

God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his only son. And Abraham was ready to do so,without question.

And there's still the death and destruction prophesied in future for this world.

God doesn't approve killing? Murder?
That's not what he tells us,when he ordered babies bashed upon rocks and pregnant women's unborn ripped from their wombs. Hosea 13.

Mans campaigns are one thing. However,God is by his own account, not pro-life.

Indeed. But dust without moisture doesn't become pliable to form something like Paul's illustration the Potter and the Clay.

Adam was formed from the dust of the ground and the life giving spirit of the water of life,God.

And when we die,we return to dust. And our soul, spirit, to God who gave it to us.
