The FBI’s Recovery Asset Team has stopped more than $1 billion in attempted cyber theft since January 2025, the bureau told Breitbart News exclusively. The team runs the Financial Fraud K!ll Chain, a race to freeze fraudulent wire transfers with banks before the money moves out of reach. In 2025 it launched roughly 3,900 such actions against more than $1.1 billion in attempted theft and froze $679 million, according to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center report.
The targets are real people. Americans filed more than one million cybercrime complaints in 2025 for the first time ever, reporting $20.9 billion in losses. Adults 60 and older accounted for $7.7 billion of it, so 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬’ 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬’ 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 being pulled back from the scammers.
The FBI also says Operation Blackout, its campaign against overseas scam compounds, has seized roughly $17 billion, arrested hundreds of suspects and freed thousands of trafficked workers.
