We will never be able to understand God's grace unless we first understand man's depravity.

Ecclesiastes 7:29 - "See, this alone I found, that God made man upright, but they have sought out many schemes."
Romans 5:7-8 - For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:12,19 - sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned... by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners
Romans 3:23 - for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

jimmydiggs: You saved me a lot of digging. Man is certainly depraved.

Romans 3

As it is written,
“There is no one righteous;
no, not one.
11 There is no one who understands.
There is no one who seeks after God.
12 They have all turned aside.
They have together become unprofitable.
There is no one who does good,
no, not so much as one.”✡
13 “Their throat is an open tomb.
With their tongues they have used deceit.”✡
“The poison of vipers is under their lips”;✡
14 “whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.”✡
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood.
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways.
17 The way of peace, they haven’t known.”✡
18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”✡

And yet a depraved man can choose to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

And yet a depraved man can choose to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.
Mark 13:20

20 “If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them.

Mark 13:20

20 “If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them.

Who chose who?
Deut 30:19) I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

Rom 3:
20) Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
21) But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22) Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24) Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Man was depraved before God quickened him to life Eph 2:3-4. Even after he quickened us to life we still carry the baggage of our fleshly nature, thus, Paul's explination of the warfare we battle within us.

Deut 30:19 is not talking about choosing eternal life, but choosing the abundant life we can enjoy here in this world and the death is talking about a seperation from the fellowship of God. Harmonise the scriptures, Shroom. If you read Gal 2:16 carefully you will find that it is Christ's faith that justifies us and not our faith.

Our Lord is so merciful that he sent Jesus to save us from our sin.

The journey is life, the test is our Faith, Jesus is our guide.

The Lord did not harvest too soon, he wanted to give us one more chance at salvation so he sent Jesus, whoever believed and loved could be saved.
He also sent the Holy spirit.

We must overcome this world and our selfish ways otherwise we will not know God, you can serve only one master.
This world is in darkness yet people do not see it. If you do not believe in light then you do not know see the darkness.

Nothing is worth having if it will eternally separate you from God. Best to starve to death and meet the Lord, than live on a full stomach and not.

We are born into a world that seeks to satisfy the flesh.
We are a slave to money, by becoming consumers we are held ransom for food and water.

The Lord provided us with everything, yet now we are being controlled to obtain these things. Man is in a false belief that he is surviving on his knowledge.
All the science and medicine will not save us.

We have been tricked into believing we are better off now than ever. Are we really? Is all this not just leading to prove that Man without God is nothing.

The world as forsaken God, yet you will hear people say that God forsaken the world. The Lord is watching over us, knowing that we will get nowhere without him. He knew from day one that, yet he let us carry on hoping that we might see it, before his harvest so that we could be saved by his mercy.

i have no one to blame for my depravity. i cannot blame society,or parents or spouses or money or friends or the devil or God. i cannot blame anyone other than myself for my depravity. i do not need to understand someone else's depravity. i need to understand my own. to put blame on others for my actions will work no better now than it did for those three in the garden answering to God in genesis. it is far easier for me to understand why others are acting in such a depraved manner than to understand why i am doing so. i am not here to understand why you are a sinner, but how i am a sinner. Jesus helped me to do this. Jesus can help you to do this. ask Jesus for help.

Ah, but this is where repentance comes in. When a man realises his sinfulness, His guilt, and his judgment, and turns and receives Christ's gift.

It is this understanding that helps a man understand the true gospel. Until then, they will either reject it outright. or try to earn Gods gift. by trying to work for it. Because they do not understand their true status, and think somehow they can make up for their sin.

Yes, people sin. NO, people are not depraved. Each person on this earth is without excuse when it comes to accepting salvation. For God has made Himself evident to everyone.

Every time God is urging people to choose to do something it is always His covenant people He addresses, not the lost and godless world!

That statement is not true. He wants every man to choose to believe on Him and His son.

Repentence will not save you eternally. Believing will not save you eternally. Accepting Jesus will not save you eternally. Eternal salvation is only by the shed blood of Jesus for those that God gave him John 6:37-41. We become converted to the truth as we gain knowledge and understanding as we study and hear the word. Christ's work on the cross eternally saved all of God's elect from Adam to the last one of his elect that will be born by natural birth into this world.

That statement is not true. He wants every man to choose to believe on Him and His son.
But the natural man has no desire to choose to believe, it is foolishness unto him. The natural man will stay that way unless God interviens with quickening him to a spiritual life, while he is still spiritually dead Eph 2:1-5.
