because it's from His grace, and not from something we can earn... that's what makes it special.

it's a gift from love.
 
Because it is free, and requires nothing but following the two commandments given by Jesus. We all struggle, but we are saved and covered by the blood of Christ. No sin can hold you back from the mercy of God.
 
A person who is not converted can not understand nor appreciate the gift of God.
John.4

[9] Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
[10] Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

i think its more than a eternal life we gota go after, its God himself we gota love and adore i lyk wat leonard ravenhill said my goal is God himself,not blessing not healing not revivival i need him
 
None of us deserve the gift of salvation. Yet our God is a loving God. A God that loves us so much he sent his Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so that we can be forgiven. It's a free gift of love, grace and mercy that Jesus extends to us. All we have to do it repent of our sins and accept the love of Jesus. Then, Jesus will enter into your heart and be with you forever, all you have to do is ask Him in.

It isn't about how good or how bad a person is. The more you seek Jesus and the closer you draw to Him and the more you will want to become a better person and not continue in your sins. You are loved by the beloved. We don't have to be perfect, we just have to pick up the cross and follow Jesus....it's a choice we make...to love God who first loved us.
 
I just realized that I didn't fully answer the question. Why should you accept eternal life? I would ask why not accept eternal life? The promises in the bible to those that do accept eternal life are far greater than any other gift anyone could give to me. I am promised unconditional love, eternal salvation, forgiveness for my sins, when i die I will live in paradise and get to see my child again, my body will be made perfect so I (we) wont need glasses or suffer from any health problems, sin will not be around me anymore so I wont have to see any more murders or theft or anything, the list goes on and on.

Then, there is this scipture's promise. This shows us abundant love. How could I not desire to be a part of a God that loved me so much that he sacrificed his own Son so I can be set free from my sins? I don't know that I would have been able to sacrifice my child like that.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Right on brother, for who is it that fashioned the universe and upholds everything by the power of His own hand?


Wisdom of Sirach 1:2 "Who can number the sand of the sea, and the drops of rain, and the days of eternity?

I guess eternal life is better than non-existence. I think the Lord wants us to accept the gift. Of course, we have to love the Lord with all our hearts, minds, and souls, and love our neighbors as ourselves if we want to enjoy that life.

We don't really have any idea what doom really is, but we know we deserve it. That time I ____________________ or did ________________________ sealed my fate. In the future I will most likely ________________, totally contradicting my faith and my walk following after Jesus. But I have His grace, mercy, and loving kindness. To be honest, eternal life is a perk I can't quite understand yet. The gift of holiness that we have now is reason enough to accept Christ.

John 17:1"1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, 2 since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent."

Jesus ached for us, shed tears of blood for us and He died for my _________________. He didn't deserve that, but accepted the will of God. We are called to do the same and accept His gift of eternal life because it is His will.

So the reason one should be a Christian is because the alternative is rather unpleasant? Is there anything other than calculated self-interest involved here? Why should we not take the punishment that we deserve?
 
Yes, the alternative is very unpleasant. Upon doing a study of what it will be like, I know that it is NOT a place where I want to end up. However, that is not why I follow Jesus. It isnt because the alternative is worse, it's because I love Jesus with all of my heart. Since I love Him, I don't want to hurt Him. I want to become the best that I can be because Jesus first loved me and His love was so great, that he gave His life for me so that I can live eternally with Him forever. We don't need to take the punishment because Jesus already took it for us. Even before we sinned, Jesus paid the price for our sins. All we have to do is accept Him as our Savioour, and all of our sins are forgiven. I don't love Jesus from self-interest alone but because of Love.

I disagree with Nietzsche's teachings that God is dead and we killed him. Why? Because when Nietzsche died, he did not come back to life. When Jesus died, he not only came back to life, but he spent time with his disciples again and Mary and others. We can see the diety of Jesus. Nietzsche was just a man who made accusations that he couldnt prove to be fact. The bible, however, was written from actual accounts of what took place when Jesus ministered. Those writings are based on actual historical events.
 
We don't deserve it, but what an amazing unconditional love He showed us when he gave His son...

John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life"

absolutely we are all deserving of Gods wrath but only by His grace thru Jesus He has made a way back for us cause under the law, guilty as charged, all of us.

we can get caught out in thinking that cause we share the gospel, the good news, that those who refuse are damned but it is not so for the Father reveals the Son to whom He chooses, one plants a seed, another waters but it is God alone that brings the increase hence we are told by scripture we cant say who is going to hell or heaven or who has rejected the gift of salvation reconcilliation sanctification glorification.

Its a gift from God so no man can boast

Repenting and accepting Jesus are works of man and eternal salvation is not by the works of man Eph 2:8.
 
Luk 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

 
I have alot of reasons over the years to believe I have been shown, so eternal life or eternal hellfire......not a tough decision, and furthermore none of us has earned it that's why Jesus died for us because none of us could make it.So that's my opinion in short.
 
Life has many choices, but eternity has only two. Eternal life, or eternal damnation. Which would you choose?
