I haven't done much research on this whole thing, but i invited a friend to attend my church and after being there a while she erupted in screams and shakes during one alter call. (basically we cast out her demons) but she said there was one left that was tell her not to tell. well she wants Jesus with all her heart and she prays and listen to gospel music and tries getting to know God more but

when she sleeps in her room she get anxiety attacks, she wakes up and can't move, her door will open with no one there, she'll get all kinds of crazy thoughts like kill yourself so this will all be over, or Jesus is of the devil.

its said that if you have the holy spirit in you then a demon can't be there. there isn't room for both. but i haven't read any of that in the bible. i was just told that by ppl who are more spiritually mature then me.

so what i'm basically asking is how to i help her? i've never driven out a demon. just kinda helped the others pray over her while my pastors did the work of acutally talking to it. idk how to rebuke them out of her room or her if she starts falling out. i mean i totally wouldn't run but i guess i'd like some advice from some one whose had more experiance then me.

I don't want to go into a lot of Scriptures here, but just to say categorically that a Christian (a person who has repented of their sin, accepted the Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and been washed in His Blood) CANNOT be possessed by a demon, let me just say that again, a born again Christian CANNOT be possessed (ie have a demon in them) by a demon!

John writes in 1John 5v18, ”We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the Wicked One does not touch him.” “Does not touch him,” (in Greek) “ouch haptetai autou,” is the present middle indicative of “hapto,” which means to lay hold of or to grasp rather than a momentary touch, which is (in Greek) “thiggano;” (Strongs NT: 2345) both words are used by Paul in Col 2v21. John only uses “hapto,” (Strongs NT: 680) here in 1John 5v18, and in John 20v17, where Jesus asks Mary to “cease holding and clinging to me;” “me mou haptou” is the present middle imperative of “hapto.” Jesus explains that Mary cannot keep holding and clinging to Him, because He has to ascend to the Father. There was no prohibition against Mary touching or holding the Lord, for in Matt 28v9 the women took hold of our Lord's feet (Greek, ekratesan (Strongs NT 2902)) and worshipped Him. Mary was filled with joy at finding our Lord risen and alive, and did not want Him to go away; our Lord said that He could not stay because He had to ascend to the Father.

We can say with absolute certainty, that the Wicked One cannot possess a Christian. This is God's sure promise to us, for in 1John 5v18, John said that the Wicked One cannot lay hold of, or grasp a child of God. We are to keep ourselves in the love of God, and Christ’s devoted and continuous intercession for us, to keep guard and protect us is a glorious and wonderful fact. Our Heavenly Father loves His children even as He loves Jesus and Jesus loves us as the Father Loves Him, so that God would no more let one of His dearly loved children be possessed by a demon than he would let His own Beloved Son Jesus be! John 15v9, 17v11,12,23 Jude v21, Heb 4v14-16, 7v25, Psalm 121v3,4, Prov 18v10, Deut 33v27, Luke 11v9-13.

There is not ONE case in the New Testament of a Christian being possessed!

I'll Speak further to you by PM...

Yahweh Shalom.

It would be a good idea to get help from people who have dealt with demon oppression before. Is there someone at your church that can help or knows someone you can contact for help?

Believers should definitely pray for the intervention of the Holy Spirit...the more the better. But there are people who are really good at this sort of thing. Praying for your friend's deliverance :)

Ever consider that she could just be faking and likes attention? Might of not even had demons in the first place, imagine that!

Or there really is an issue and needs to see a psychologist maybe talk out what her problems are etc.

It doesn't really comes down to what you just want to believe, possession thing is going bit too far with superstition.

No a christian cannot be possessed,

1 John 4:4 '' You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.''

Only Oppression is a possibility in a christian's life.

Utter Rubbish!

Even a back slidden Christian can't be possessed!

I suggest you go and search the Scriptures on this subject and not be so gullible to simply believe what a 'so called' Pastor/Teacher spouts from a pulpit...

If he "refuses " to obey the word of God, is that person a christian?

I would give her these scriptures to memorize and tell her to sing gospel songs praising God. If she can't sleep let her pray and read her Bible and ask God to help. Play Christian music... well pray hymns. not what passes for music today because some of it might not help so much. If you can find or make a cd where the words are only from the psalms that would be great.

The demons will leave when they realized she is rooted in Christ and unshakable and they can not tempt her into falling into sin and betraying God's trust in her.

The best thing for you personally to do is pray with her and just listen and read the Bible together.

Oh here are the Bible verses and a song:

2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

James 4
7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

Aqua Girl, I would encourage both you and your friend to pray together and ask Jesus to fill you with the Holy Spirit. And then just sit and listen to Him for a while. It is the best advice I can give you. I'll pray for you! -JIM

The Spirit of God was on Saul. But when he did not obey Samuel the prophet, God rejected him and he removed his Spirit from him and send a tormenting spirit that fill him with depression and fear.
There are many person who say that they are christian but they do not believe the word of God.
What spirit will they receive? The Spirit of God or the spirit of satan?

It is quite obvious you don't have a clue what you are rambling on about!

1Sam 16v14 states:

'But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him.'

It does not say that it 'possessed' him, it simply says that it 'troubled' him, the demon (who was external to Saul) was energising evil power against his mind and soul (Eph 2v2, '...the spirit that now works and energises the sons of disobedience'), which caused him to be 'troubled' and with David's anointed playing of his harp it refreshed Saul and caused the demon to depart from him. It is quite clear that the demon was external to Saul for Saul was not exorcised! 1Sam 16v23...

An example of someone who was possessed is given in Matt 8v28-34, Mark 5v1-20 and Luke 8v26-39...

Strong1...please do show me in the New Testament an example of a believer who is possessed...

You won't find any...simply because a believer/Christian cannot be possessed! :p

Possession is quite rare, especially in the West, and this stems from God's protection of mankind by His restraint upon the the Devil and the powers of darkness (2Thess 2v7), He is kind even to the unthankful and evil... Matt 5v45, Luke 6v35...

The Scriptures is where you take doctrine and truth from as regards to demons/possession, not from some charlatan claiming to be a pastor/teacher!

Yahweh Shalom...

The Bible say clearly that the tormenting spirit came UPON Saul. Which means that Saul was captif of that spirit. David play harp which causes that spirit to depart out from him.
Jesus also was troubled in gethsemany. But there was any demon who came upon Him. Whereas Saul the demon was upon him.
Jesus said in luke 11 vs 24:
When an unclean sprit goes out of a man,he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and find none, he says" I'll return to my house from which i came".
And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirit more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worst than the first.
Juda was a christian,he was a disciple of Jesus. He received the gift of healing, csating demons, and was called to preach gosple. But in the night of the supper of the Lord, (John 13vs 27) it is state clearly that satan ENTERED IN Juda. Juda was a christian demon.
Ephesians 2 vs 2 :
"In which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works IN the sons fo disobedience"
I respect your opinion on that. But what i want to say is that there are many people who professes that they are christians but there life testify the contrary and they become captives of evil spirit if they do not repent sincerly. This is why a christian shoul be baptised in the Holy Spirit.

As a health care professional I feel I must add that much of what you describe are symptoms of OCD--Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

In addition to pursuing things at chruch, perhaps it would be prudent for her to be seen by a psychiatrist who may be able to make such a diagnoisis?

I'll be praying! ~ellie
