I give all a chance to tell their story and I don't care about their background. Rich, Beautiful, Powerful, people kill themselves all the time and it is those that have no family, grew up in a bad neighborhood, was dirt poor, and goes on to do great things.

Does the Westboro Baptist church or any so call bad Christian “Including Myself Since I bother You “make you denounce your Christianity?

I believe the only way to help these people is to truly find the root cause of their mental illness. Not just prescribe a medicine that the lord said at the end if time would make them live in their illusion.

Cognate: 5333 phármakos – properly, a sorcerer; used of people using drugs and "religious incantations" to drug people into living by their illusions
Remember the lord said a time will come when he will send down strong delusion on people for not believing in him

Autism is a developmental disorder that appears in the first 3 years of life, and affects the brain's normal development of social and communication skills.

Sounds more Physical -- not mental to me

Also you 2nd what I said. You turned to GOD. Bipolar people don't and I'm asking why? By what I have notice they don't believe.
You raised a good point in that I did speak mostly to the life of the believer. :)

Just how many people with bipolar do you know? I ask this out of curiosity, as it seems you must know many.
I don't think it's fair to categorize ALL not-believers with bipolar as not turning to God since we don't happen to know aboslutely everyone who suffers from bipolar. Would you agree with that?

And just as my nephew who was autistic had mental retardation as well, autism is a physical ailment with mental repercussions. I feel bipolar also falls into this category: a physical ailment with mental repercussions. It may be that there are those with this illness influenced by the enemy. (aren't we all, to some point, both the saved and the unsaved?) If one is gifted of the Spirit to deal with these things, then by all means, obey your Sovereign!

We do not, as a society, stigmatize the diabetic as being demon possessed because he/she needs insulin, or the one with astigmatism for needing glasses, even if they don't believe. Why do we do this with mental illness? (I speak not just to you, m_o_f, but to our whole society on this issue.) Any illness might be the result of demonic interference...why single out the mentally ill? And who specifically bipolar?

My daughter has a friend whose dad suffers from the (to me) dreaded Huntington's Disease. It manifests in mental as well as physical symptoms. He is (so far as I am aware) unsaved. He will die from this illness. It's properly proven as genetic, and there is no cure. (any who feel led could pray for Larry!)
I use this as an example. There are other illnesses which you would probably distinguish as "physical" that affect the mind. That's all I'm saying. Paint with a more narrow brush. Don't lump "all" people with bipolar who are unsaved in the same way till you know "all". I understand this tendency--I am all too often guilty of it myself! I rely on those close to me to speak the truth to me in love, as Christ commanded.

I hope you can read this as I think it--with compassion and love, not judgment. I am very sorry if I offend you. Please do let me know if this has happened!

A Christian is nothing else but a Christian. A Christian needs NOTHING. Not chmicals, not demons not salvation not ANYTHING. Not even healing! I believe God when He said... James 1...
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
Jas 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
Jas 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Here is a question, how would JEsus deal with a bipolar person? Would Jesus walk around with a box full of chemicals? Why does the modern christian do things different than Jesus? Maybe they are not Christians. that is why they pray and recieve NOTHING Wanting happy drugs... It is a load of ($&462$) I know bipolar and all these "modern" diagnostics and findings are all a load of %^$&# just people justifying there sin.

Excuses Excuses Excuses.. I am just human, I am only a sinner, I was born gay, Iam a destirbed individual but does not want to be.... Hey man.... Jesus said... COME TO ME AND I WILL GIVE YOU REST... So GO! Go to Jesus HE WILL GIVE YOU REST!

This is what I hate about todays Christians, they are so weak, Paul said in His weakness God was strong, but I dod not witness any strong God in the weak Chriatians today, all I witness is pethetic excuses! People wake up and GO TO JESUS!
I beg you to have a care here...would you deny the diabetic Christian insulin? Or the believer who can't see well, eyeglasses?
If I have misunderstood what you say here, I sincerely apologize! ♥
Paul made that statement under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit because of an infirmity. We are on the same page here, yes?
I don't at all mean to be disputatious, but I would like to clarify. :)

That's part of the problem here, i believe as a christian we need to care about their background, a persons environment and how they were raised has a big impact on what someone believes and their morals when they grow older, all im saying is you come across very judgmental, and you seem very against medication, but some illnesses require medication, the bipolar i suffer with isn't severe enough to require meds, so it's easy for me to rely on God when i have my episodes, but i have a friend, and yes she is a christian, that has severe bipolar, she allowed people to convince her she doesn't need the meds, they told her she just doesn't have faith and that's why she's so messed up. And this is not the case, i have seen my friend cry and desperate for God to heal her, she went through a period where she felt worthless and thought God didn't love her, all because of these hurtful people.

First off you don't offend me. Sometimes the only way to get the root is to dig it out. I understand the blow back from people over the subject and the reason I use bipolar because so many things are grouped under this header and it means "bi" meaning two (2) and for some reason -- I see “them” the person as (1) and the Demons as (1) making (2).

Then when I got to talking to people that had it like 99% don't accept Jesus. A few said they did but it was after the fact. So satan attack and devoured them when they did not believe, but even then those who said they did – didn’t really believe in the bible or the literal word.

Huntington's Disease I would believe to be physical since it is passed down. Do you know why he doesn’t believe or accept Jesus ?

I will pray for him and your nephew.

So I understand this is a subject that digs at people and if you are going to try to discuss it you must be honest / blunt.

Look back at the people I asked if the truly accept Jesus. I don’t think any of them responded back. So what is that saying? That so far my opinion is holding true.

I do think you for discussing this with Christian Chat

I know someone who has Bipolar Disorder and they are very nice and yes they do attend church. I have faith that the information in Wikipedia is accurate. It is all about Medical Science. I do find Wikipedia to be an unbiased source of information.

Also even the saved people experience illnesses and suffering. If nobody experiences illness and suffering, then we all will take the good things for granite and not appreciate them. It means the world we live in is not perfect. Illness and people with disorders are NOT possessed by demons.

How can you say when you asked the people with bipolar if they accepted Jesus that they didn't respond?? Myself and 2 others said we did accept Jesus as our Lord!! Maybe you should go back a few pages

carey all you do is keep giving me excuses. I don't like crutches. Also the only thing you should look into their back ground is what they were doing spiritually. So was your friend diagnosed before or after coming to the lord? What was your friend doing before coming to the lord?

what god was she begging to?? Does she believe the bible from the first to last word? Does she take it literally? Does she accept Jesus as Lord and Savior?

I'm also sorry you look at me that way for just asking or questing this.

If you think I’m all that for asking or discussing it I can see why people flipped out when Jesus cast demons out.

To tell you the truth, it just pains me to death that some people rather be so judgmental especially to people who are disabled and who have mental conditions since they are flat out too lazy to do their research about it. They been proven wrong many times by medical evidence and by science. It just only shows their ignorance. Just about every medical book I know and encyclopedia will not even mention demonic possession as a cause.

Don’t mean to butt in, but I’ve been praying about this for awhile…

Moment of Faith, you are asking if bipolar disorder = demon. You say it does, correct?

Firstly, your opinion is skewed because you say that you do not know any bipolar Christian, or Christians that were bipolar before accepting Christ, correct? If so, then you don’t see a very diverse population of bipolar patients.

Secondly, for clarification—are you saying that demonic possession looks like bipolar, or that bipolar looks like possession?

Thirdly: Bipolar disorder—there’s no cure, but you can control the symptoms in a variety of different ways. For some, the symptoms eventually fade. But for many others, without proper treatment daily, they will have a lifetime of mania and depression.

So, I ask you, Moment of Faith, do you think that a person would remain possessed by this demon of bipolar disorder even if they are crying out, “Jesus help me!” from the depths of their soul?

Lastly, there are too many “what abouts.”

What about the affect medication has on many people with bipolar? If it’s not brain chemistry, why are the symptoms suppressed? Are the meds doing something to the demon?

What about the mental disorders that contain key symptoms of bipolar, but are not clinically bipolar? Some of these disorders could include Dissociative Personality Disorder (DID) and Schizoaffective Disorder. If a demon is the cause, could either of the people described below possessed/oppressed?

DID example—a patient can have a personality exhibiting manic like behavior and another personality that remains severely depressed, which, among others, they cycle through.
Schizoaffective Disorder: it’s practically one type of schizophrenia and another mood disorder, such a bipolar, combined!

I’m not saying that demons cannot make someone fall into illnesses such as bipolar disorder by means of possession or oppression, but I cannot see how they are always the cause.

In Christ,
River
You are clearly a blessing to this forum.

This does not mean they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Going to church doesn't save anyone.

Carey --- You said you wasn't bipolar and why wouldn't they tell me if they do?? They don't and they just don't want to admit it.

Also i have an illness called crohns disease, it's an autoimmune disease that affects my digestive system, basically my immune system see's my digestive system as an intruder and attacks it, when i am not taking my medication i am in intense pain, i can't eat or drink anything, i am also at high risk of getting colon cancer, in the beginning i prayed and fasted for God to heal me, but then He gave me a peace that this is just my cross that i have to bear. According to you and your reasons against medicine, should i just stop taking them, or isn't it more important to take my meds to prolong my life, because without the meds i will get colon cancer and die a slow painful death

That gives you no right to judge people and their salvation. Matthew 7:1-5. You have no right to judge other people.

I did not judge anyone I simple pointed out church will not and cannot save you. So if that was you criteria that it wasn't a demon because they went to church means nothing and is flawed

We lived in a discipleship home where we learned to pray, fast, do bible studys, evangelise, and we were both part of the deliverance ministry, so i can attest that my friend is 100% saved

carey -- if you would take them time and read. i talked of my many problems. Eyes getting bad, hearing getting bad, foot pain, poison ivy from head to toe, hair falling out, we all have PHYSICAL PROBLEM and WE DIE.

But that is apple and oranges from mental problems. Listen to the wording .. Mental Problem – meaning it’s in your head . not physical problem but mental problems
