What does it mean when someone says in their profile that they were saved "at birth" or saved "since birth?"

I think its mostly people who are raised in Christian homes from the time they're born. So they make the assumption that since they were raised in a Christian home, that they have always been Christians. I think its a dangerous line as it seems to me believing you are born saved means you have never come to a realization that you need Christ and sought his forgiveness and accepted him, purposefully, into their life. Why would they do that, if they believe they were born saved?

I agree with you Ugly.....someone asked about their fruits? , I have observed a few of them. Some if not all are apple bearing, peach trees.
I agree with you a 100%. I see too many profiles that say that they were saved at birth. So, being born again must be an alien concept to them.
I was born and brought up in a Christian family too. However, I had to realize that my parents' faith cannot save me. I had to make my own decision and accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior and take personal responsibility for my sins when I was 19.
It all depends on what or how they say they knew Jesus.
I have known Jesus since my earlyest memories, while still in diapers, and commited my life at different stages of growth, according to what Jesus asked of me.
When one recives Jesus is not the value, what matters is they did!
Scripture does speak to that some began the work at the beginning of the day, some in the middle, some near the end.
But the pay was the same for all.
For how does one mesure out salvation, eternal life, when the gift is beyond mesure.
Thankyou Lord Jesus for your gift, and thankyou for calling us all with your love!

My name is edwin etc etc I was baptised at birth then again after Jesus called me. I was born in 1946, called to be His witness in 2001. My friends call me ed. In 2008 I discovered that the Hebrew word ed means witness.

Isn't there a difference between knowing Jesus and committing yourself to Jesus?
I knew Jesus as a little child as well. However, I committed myself to Him and surrendered my will to His when I was 19. So what, according to you, must I mention in the "when saved" section?

Praise God for your name, and your work as his witness!
I was baptized as a two month old baby. However, I never knew about Jesus. How could I? A two month old baby knows nothing except for crying and smiling. They can't even babble. Therefore I can't say that I was saved as a two month baby. My baptism was the result of my parents' faith, and my parents' faith cannot save me.

Well, if that is the case then we should not listen to the gospel. Since we are automatically saved.

It's called an exaggeration. I was born in a Christian home and can't remember when I was truly saved (it feels like a lifetime) so I might even say that. Though I don't, I'd rather bore the crowd with the details of my family.

I doubt anyone thinks through that statement very hard if they are not a Christian. And I hope that if they are a Christian they have enough understanding of Christianity to either correct the statement or let it pass. Perhaps they can correct it to make sure the person who said it isn't laboring under any misapprehensions. However, it's not that big a deal.
It is a big deal. For someone who is not educated in the scriptures could be mislead to think that from birth they were saved. By that they do not accept Jesus, because they feel the Holy Spirit is already in them, and it is not.
You cannot be saved without knowledge, understanding. You also cannot be saved if your heart is not in the right place and not confessing his name.
The amazing thing is I remember telling Jesus I loved Him and would look for Him always.
There are prayers I made up at age two and older, my mom wrote them down for me.
I remember talking to Jesus about eating ants, asking why they tasted sour.
I used to practise looking at the sun, because if I could look at the sun, then I would be able to see God, even though His light was so blinding.
When my father beat me at age three, I remember Jesus telling me to forgive him, and that it was not my fault, I told Jesus then that I was willing to die for Him, because I saw this was the biggest gift I could give Him.
Because, I knew He gave His life for me.
I asked Jesus every night to give me a hug and kiss good night, because there was no one who could.
I also asked Jesus to take me home with Him.
I know that what I gave of myself to Jesus was not like a full on acceptance of one who did not know Him and is then saved.
But I did give to Jesus all I was and would be when very young, then as I grew, and knew more, gave that as well.
The question is, is this about the mesure of what one gives? Or simply that one gives what they know?
One has to wonder what Jesus would say?
Jesus did say, let the children come to me.
I guess the question one needs to ask ?, is why does it matter when one come to Jesus?
For what matters is that they do!

Actually, we are all kinda 'saved at birth'. God doesn't generally hold us accountable on something until we decide we're smart enough to form a position on it. He says we are born innocent (really, a 2 month old has no idea what's going on at that Baptismal) and we remain that way until we think we know enough to decide on Him. Problem is, we live in a fallen world whose ruling interests include making sure we decide against God as early as possible. So we are in some way born saved, it's just up to us to make sure we stay that way by accepting Jesus's sacrafice after being made aware of it.

Actually, that's true. I believe if a baby dies they will still go to heaven, so in a way, we would still be saved. That's not to say that we are perfect at birth. Of course not. But miscarriages, abortions, accidental deaths, etc happen to end a young child or infant's life and they don't know enough to choose Jesus or not. I believe God would still save them.
