Throughout Scripture, God tells His people in different ways to get rid of filth..can you give examples of this?

James 1:26If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

Galatians 5 explains spirit and flesh
starting at Galatians 5: 19-21 you see a list of things that defile the spirit.
then in Galations 5: 22-26 you see that which cleanses the spirit.

Jas 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Jas 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

I generally use KJV as I am used to it but I do like to compare translations using e-sword.
I find the old king James version has less distortions to God's word than any of the revised versions..there is a history that goes with the way the bible translations have been distorted..now to get back to the original question...do you know any old testament examples of how God has told us to get rid of filth? does anybody know of any?

Isa 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

sa 1:16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
Isa 1:17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
Isa 1:19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
Isa 1:20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Jer 26:13 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.

Pro_1:23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

Pro 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

Ecc 11:9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.
Ecc_11:10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

There is a law concerning filth
Deuteronomy 23: 13-14
And thou shalt have a paddle upon the weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee;
For the Lord thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy; that He see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.

Pretty round about way to say when you relieve yourself dig a whole and cover it up, Now, what do we know that covers a multitude of sin ( filth) oh yea it is love. *_*

As I think they law deals with the outward filth. There are laws about if you have blemishes or spots -- if a woman is having her time -- if a man has emissions in the night -- all things that you must cleanse yourself from -- you are put outside the camp.
Jesus deals with the inside of the cup. Calling us temples. He explained what is in the heart defiles us. This should be our heart-- to love,, forgive have mercy, be kind ....
So, we are born again this cleanses the filth -- we love so we are born of God and know God this also cleanses the filth. Our spirit becomes one with His this most assuredly cleanses the filth.
OH no and we become holy as He is Holy.
I can babble on like this forever so let me stop here *_*

yes and to grow in holiness...what are some practical applications and examples...I can think of one..and that is to turn from worldliness...love of money, materialism and idolizing the worldly pursuits and the things of this world and worldly entertainments and having the values of this world such as the quest for physical perfection

Titus 1: 15
Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure: but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

to the first group
God has given us all things to enjoy.
to the second group
God knew you would act treacherous from the womb.

keep in mind that we are all impure...we are all sinners..God has placed in believers His pure spirit but our fleshly nature fights with our new spirit until we are completely transformed...believers are a work in progress and not a finished work so we must always be aware of our sins that we need to turn from

I should clarify that because Jesus is not and has never been impure..He is the one exception

Love fulfills the law -- we are sinners once but now are righteous in the eyes of God through Christ.
We don't willfully sin or I hope we don't because there is no more sacrifice for sin.
It is good to be humble, but know you are a child of God.

1 Peter 1: 22- 23
Seeing ye have PURIFIED your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned Love of the brethern, see that ye love one another with a PURE heart fervently:
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
