This is something that i always wondered.

My nickname, "Onlinebuddy" is self explanatory. It just means that I'm your online friend.

What does your nickname mean or stand for?

33 is the number that was on all our license plates when I grew up in Fayette County, Iowa. Fayette County was the 33rd county, alphabetically.

Mine is my name. Dot is short for Dorothy and Ann is my middle name. Thus Dotann... Although many do get it, but oddly enough, some pronounce it do tan instead? Not sure why but but doesn't matter, as i answer to almost anything.. :)
I do see many though who have such terrific nicks. They have thought about it a lot more than me and put a lot of effort into it that influences who they are, or a particular situation, or enhances something they feel is special in their life. I really like this about them, as it says a lot about that person. Especially when it really suits them... This tells me they have a great sense of who they are.... While others still don't know yet...

You're right. A nickname could either express who you are, or who you dream to be. Thanks for sharing, Dorothy.

Thanks OFM, I would have never guessed that. Are you saying you used to be a Catholic Priest? It must have been quite an experience.

Matthew 16:18

And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

Six children+homeschooling=psychotic momma. :)

Actually, some old friends from college and high school were visiting, and my children sat fascinated, listening to stories about mom when she was young (you know, just about the time God created dirt). I was 35 at the time, so Einstein was correct---it's all realtive. ;)
But the kiddos came to the conclusion that 'poor mom used to be normal, and wasn't crazy till she had us.'
And dubbed me (in love and jest, I hope? lol) psychomom. It stuck, to the point I still get notes from my 27 yo to psychomomma.

But it must look like I don't know what to y'all out there. :)
And that's why I sign most posts with my name-
ellie
ps--ellie was already taken when I joined CC.

Six children! You must be a Super Mom!

I have one kid, and he's a handful. I can imagine the hard work and sacrifice it took you to raise six children. I know that it takes a chunk out of one's life. I'm sure they appreciate what you've done for them. You women are special. I have one at home (my wife), and I never stop being amazed by her.

About what we thought? I always taught that a person who could call herself psychomom would be cool and confident, and surely you turned out to be just as I imagined.

So thanks Ellie. I enjoyed reading your post.

My name is Jordi, but I've been called a million nicknames. My pastor calls me "mija" and "Jordache". The latter just sounded better. He's the only one who calls me that.
