Let me tell yah something, if you feel you can lose your salvation, perhaps you've never been saved to begin with. It is that or you're just confused because Satan loves to come and steal, killl and destroy John 10:10

Bookends, I believe the same way.
I tell you I really haven't felt such distress about trusting the LORD until I saw so many in fear of losing something God planned to do from the beginning and promised He would complete.
He came Himself to accomplish it!

I don't know.
There is such peace and comfort in the scriptures, I wonder why we don't want to be comforted?

??? you're not serious are you??? just in case someone hasn't given it to you yet because I honor any request for scripture:

John 14:26
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

John 16:7
Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

PS. Abiding I love Rich Mullins songs. His was the first one I ever memorized as a baby Christian.

Ariel,
I apologize if I was not clear on the question.

"Please provide a single passage in the New Testament which describes Christians following the Holy Spirit."

The emphasis had been on following the Holy Spirit as though He were somewhere away, calling to catch up or follow.

I was asking for any scriptures that showed such a thing for Christians.
Thank you for the passages, though they don't address "following" the Holy Spirit.
God Bless

Well of course Sin was atonement for at the cross once for all men.. that is all sin for all men.. So our sin is not an issue for Salvation but that is not the whole gospel.. Any and all man has a free offer of atonement. So your sin is paid for, now what will you do with the rest of the Gospel?

Let me tell yah something, if you feel you can lose your salvation, perhaps you've never been saved to begin with. It is that or you're just confused because Satan loves to come and steal, killl and destroy John 10:10

Let me tell yah you something, if Hebrews does not speak to you about the possibility of apostatizing, nothing will. (said in pun, not sarcasm)

Hearing of the law ? No, faith comes by hearing, and, hearing by the Word of God. Rom. 10:17.
Are you separating the hearing of the Law and its pronouncement on sinners from the Word of God?
How is a sinner convicted of their sin but that they hear what God has declared concerning sin in His Law?

because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin - Romans 3:20

When we understand we are under condemnation for sin, it's then we understand the remedy, Jesus and the Cross.
That is the Gospel.

Hopefully we continue to see our need whenever the Word of God is taught, for the Law continues to point out our sin. If we say we have no sin, we are not being truthful.

I am sorry, you are basically telling me to mind my own business, but at the end you ask me questions. Which one do you desire of me?
No, I was not telling you to mind your own business, I was saying that one person has made some assertions that only he understands. I was trying to see what he meant by following the Spirit.
I wondered how he thinks we do that.

I am happy to talk to you, but the questions and answers will be slightly different since you and GnN are two different people.
God Bless

Thankyou for some of the verb tenses now i need to look at it some more. Where im going is
this is NOT talking about us following the Spirit...but in reality saying that The Spirit from the start
is active and stays active and will always be active leading us.

Not like in the natural we follow someone, but as a truth and promise He leads us, even in the
definition..it includes dragging us, carrying us..etc. all the way to full sanctification and glorification
Rom 8:30

He is doing the leading..thats the emphasis...the emphasis is not on our following. Although im not suggesting we cant resist or grieve Him..but the point is we have His constant leading or we are not a Son of God.
Amen! This is exactly what I meant to say, but I couldn't get it.
I've looked into it some more since yesterday and I think I do now though,
Thank you.:)

No one is teaching that it is all right to live in sin and flash the robe of righteousness around as you flirt with the world. What is the matter with you? However, when God cleanses the sinner by faith they are clean and their sin is put away and buried, never to be remembered any more and God imputes to them a gift of His righteousness that can never be taken from them or forfeited by them. It is a finished work and Christ did it on the cross and through His resurrection. This is why it is all grace and if it is not all grace then it is by works and if by works then it is not grace and we have a debt to pay and the debt that Christ paid counts for nothing.

But, can't you see, reddy, it's not all grace...

The bible moves to 'faith,' Paul imparts 'grace, peace, love,' in His books but 'grace' is not what's his theme. It's 'faith,' streamed throughout, gently starting out in Romans, then after Spirit's power to interpret Word for believer in 1 Corinthians, and, then marriage self-help, more of 'faith,' exhorted for churches. Have faith ! Put on whole armor of God, FIGHT the fight of faith, some will try to deceive you from faith in Timothy. Faith, Paul's clear meaning is for us to ENDURE, done through FAITH :)
steering us from an understanding of the Law in Romans to leading believers in Old Testament times to Christ's leading, by Christ Himself, at first, being coneived of th Holy Sprite, and, then walking as the man, Jesus Christ, to Christ given unto us after He died, rose, again, and, ascended to Heaven. Stephen was NOT moved by grace to become a martyr, he was moved by faith.

Abraham? Faith !
David, the boy, going up against the giant ! Faith !
David , the man, accepting Christ's discipline for His first child dying? Faith !
Paul, blinded on road to Damascus, believed in God by ______ . Faith !

'Course, we all have our moments, fervent as Peter, but denying Him. Now, was the Holy Spirit in Peter when Jesus walked the earth? No ! The Holy Spirit was a promise by Jesus that we would get 'a Helper' after He left . And, indeed, within moments after Jesus ascended, as promised, Acts is ALL about the power of the Holy Spirit who CAN be received (permitted) into one's life :)

Flashing a robe of righteosness, really , reddy ? Is that how it's perceived to live in the Spirit of Christ reViving one born again's DEAD life up to His reception. And, sure, with te foundation of Christ in us, we are saved as one through fire, as 1 Cor. 3:15 states, right, but what makes you think your going to stay true to Christ IF you're liVing in your DEAD WORKS ! GOD'S GRACE ? LOL.

God will SPIT YOU OUT !!! What is the word? 'Lukewarm.'. Kinda sounds like your works getting burned to the ground of becoming nothingness, huh, but you SAVED ! KINDA . What about that 'spit out' part, I wonder. Does God mean 'You're still all in,' when He says you're all out (of my mouth)?

Hmmm, apostating food for thought, eh, Christ peeps.

And, what do you think of John eating 'the little book' in Revelation 9 , that's taste was sweet , crumbling in His mouth like honey. Hmmm, what about Hebrews 6 that says before this speaking that one who tastes the heavenly gift, enlightened, and, here are the words that PROVE this person was REGENERATED or, 'born again,' being also 'partakers of the Holy Spirit .'

Really, do you REALLY want to twist these words around to say this person spoken of was never of a genuine true saving faith???? Preposterous ! Worse than that? It's false teaching and Christ is clear through John's 'revelation' where they go I'd you care to read Rev. 20:10 . To the 'lake of fire,' and, these words are the real kiCKer: 'tormented day and night forever and ever .' !!!

Well, green, I sure hope and pray, with all my heart, that He leads you, here, 'Dear Lord....Amen.'

Me, too, Christ peeps, me too. :)

Thank you. So, are those questions opened up for me to answer also?

Yes, sealed. But 1 Cor. 3:15 of person's worked dribbled but he saved, etc, verses , are all NOT talking about one who willfully leaves Christ by way of having tasted the heavenly gift, the sweetness of the Holy Spirit.

There is no repentance at all of their life and there is NO salvation. (Heb. 6:4-6)

The Holy spirit grants us, permits us to partake of Him.

Don't shame that great faith blessing of Him, or, you will not be saved , youvwull apostate unto DEATH ! :(

Yes.

GRACE= the act by Christ, His Son's shed blood that eliminated sin and shame:)

Faith is the power. His given faith must become used, we get empowered through His leading, clue following , abider :)

----
Note to abidingsquirrel: 'delta' = the person who does the faith.

Christ is the beginner / author of our faith (gives us our measure ) and we USE it as He leads, then, He will complete the goodcwork began in us, and this, too, is yhrough our faith believing in Him , His plans for our life. Simple, eh :)

I'm sorry to be blunt, but I do not see enough familiarity with the scriptures to give your opinions much credence.
Could you try to back up what you are saying by actually quoting the scripture?
Thank you
God Bless.

All the people in the Church saved Cfultz?

Hebrews 6:4

New King James Version (NKJV)
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, (there is only one more age to come after this, the eternal state! sorry, i just had to through that in there) 6 if they fall away, (from the gathering, from the teaching that could and will saved them, the church, the gospel) to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

Here!, straight from the book of Hebrews. Perhaps not all the people in the Jerusalem Church (I'm assuming the writer had the Jerusalem church in mind) were saved. I'm not gonna go around pointing the finger is who or who isn't saved, but I believe the bible teaches that there are some among us who think they are saved, but actually have a spurious faith. The writer is saying once you've been regenerated, it is impossible to lose you're salvation and go back into Judaism, for you can't get saved twice, it's a one time deal. And to say you're saved and to go back to Judaism means you've never been saved to begin with or confused, hence if you fluctuate between the two you put Christ's name to shame. It doesn't no mean you can't come back into the church and have an authentic conversion or repentance. So when it is an authentic repentance and accepting of the blood, you are sealed by the Holy Spirit and can't go back to Judaism, and if one did, I'm sure the Lord would have a whole lot chastising to do.

Paul said salvation is something we hope for not something we have obtained..

No he didnt. Is this what you call the rest of the gospel? Is the Good news the fact that God cant
keep us, and theres no promise, and we have to depend on ourselves to keep it? Really?
And anyone that doesnt believe that is an overt sin lover? I dont think the blessed Hope is a
Blessed ulcer.

titus 1:2
a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time

The apostles didn't give people a lil card with 4 points of salvation and then give the people a guarantee of their Salvation because someone said a prayer. They went back day after day, told them everything Jesus said. showed in the scrolls Christ was the messiah, the one from heaven with the words of eternal life. His Words are from God with all the Authority of God, every Word spoken is eternally binding and will be done.

Men will be on the right hand and left hand even though his sacrifice was for the sins of all men. So ? what puts us on the right hand in judgment? what makes us different then any other men? faith is given to all men, grace is given to all men, the blood has been given to all men. many are deceived, many go out from them, the love of many wax cold, many are standing saying Lord, Lord. many will reject his words, what make us so special?

Following the law isn't gonna save us. being perfect in the flesh isn't gonna save us, beating ourselvs for our sin isn't gonna save us. continuing in sin isn't gonna save us.

Jesus is the Salvation of all men, if a man will be saved..

So?

I say Listen to him.. every word spoken by him is the word of God there for every Word he spoke has the creative power of God to produce the fruit of righteousness by grace through faith.

15 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vineyard keeper. 2 Every branch in Me that does not produce fruit He removes, and He prunes every branch that produces fruit so that it will produce more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in Me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me.

5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without Me. 6 If anyone does not remain in Me, he is thrown aside like a branch and he withers. They gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you. 8 My Father is glorified by this: that you produce much fruit and prove to be[a] My disciples.

I can see If I do not remain in him, I will not receive Salvation. what do you see?

Well of course Sin was atonement for at the cross once for all men.. that is all sin for all men.. So our sin is not an issue for Salvation but that is not the whole gospel.. Any and all man has a free offer of atonement. So your sin is paid for, now what will you do with the rest of the Gospel?

Please tell us the rest of the Gospel. Im being sincere...you say things...without saying anything.
And you say some people without identifying them...very vague and hard to understand

BOOKSENDS, BOOKSENDS, why dost thou persecute me?
Yes, it's true, one who has Me and spits me out can NOT come again to repentence .

Why are these verses so hard to understanD, OSAS ?

()(()()()()()))DEAR LORD....AMEN, my sweet heavenly Father, why :(
-------------

Mari, the above verses fully explain WHY we are to follow Him by virtue of what will happen when we have been reborn of God, of Him, and, then left Him, which can, indeed, happen.

The Scripture Ariel posted is fully explaining to that God wants us to assume His Helper unto our being. :)

, I pray with wisdom from ReignisHis, cfultz and others efectively preaching Truth , from Scripture. Tis is heavy, heavy stuff right now, the heaviest I've become involved with doing and the Lord leads me now to judge righteously, and, vteling others that they are saved by grace, without the THROUGH FAITH part (of ephesians 2:8) is FALSE to a 'firey lake' core of teaching. It is essence of falsely teaching and not assuming ownership of understanding of the whole of the Word which is ALL written for Holy Spirit inspired reproof and correction. (1 Tim. 3:16)

Note: I tried to talk last night again but was on this thread, as you see I answered your question, but, I will say this: Following the Holy Spirit is an active, knowing act, and, Jesus makes that clear by saying He is giving us a 'Helper' after He leaves but He MUST be 'received,' and Bristle also MUST 'permit' Him to come unto us . Some Scripture for latter said is Hebrews 6:3 . God bless you, too, milady :)

GnN:
The passages Ariel posted do not address what I was trying to learn from you: can you explain from the scriptures what it means to be led by the Spirit?

You were asserting you were following Him. I asked for passages that show where He is for you?

As for anyone not knowing they are saved by Grace through faith, I have not seen that. Could you post where anyone has said that? In truth, I think you are taking a circuitous route to take credit for your faith, when people have been telling you all along faith is a gift from God. It is given graciously.

Faith is the means through which God persuades you of the Truth, and moves you to act on that faith (for whatever purpose, baptism, evangelism, prayer, trusting in His ability to deliver you).

Please show me where we must "permit" God to do anything. (Whether God the Holy Spirit, Father or Son).

You seem to have been taken to a passage in Hebrews 6 which has unecessarily terrified Christians because it is falsely taught.

The passage was specifically to those making the transition from the Old Covenant which was fulfilled in Jesus and passed away to the New. The warning is throughout Scripture, the Gospels many, to the primary audience, the Israelites.

If they came near to partake of the good things related to the promised New Covenant, but turned away and returned to sacrificing animals and the temple system there would be no more sacrifice for sins. If you proceed in Hebrews, the writer speaks to them about things gentiles would not have understood (Melchezidek, priesthood, atonement and so on).

A believing Christian will not do this. Nominal Christians (people who come near and sample, or partake of the the things related to the Kingdom) do this all the time: many have departed from the new temple, the body of Christ, the Church for Judaism itself!

Likewise a believing Christian can not commit the unpardonable sin.

But these people surely did not have saving faith - if they had, they would have actually believed what was said!

I don't find this difficult to understand.

Not all who say Lord Lord are Christians. Mitt Romney uses Jesus' Name and he is certainly not a Christian.

And those having falling in the wilderness after their deliverance from bondage? Did they not make their heart stubborn to God's Voice after this action of salvation? Are we not taught of this backsliding from the lession of Hebrews 6:7-8. Does not those two verses speak of one who will not let the Spirit till him into perfection. And by which resistance, that person produces thrones and briers, whose end is for a burning?

Greenie,

She is asking about the enlightment of the Spirit, having the dimness of Darkness removed so that the Light may be our soul's light. Our current study of Hebrews 6.

Acts 2
The Ingathering

37Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brethren, what shall we do?” 38Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39“For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” 40And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation!” 41So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. 42They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

43Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. 44And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; 45and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. 46Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, 47praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Men will be on the right hand and left hand even though his sacrifice was for the sins of all men. So ? what puts us on the right hand in judgment? what makes us different then any other men? faith is given to all men
Faith is not given to all men.
What makes us different is what sort of creature are - sheep or goats.
That is decided by The LORD - Whoever believes in Jesus has eternal life.
They have entered in through the Door and may lie down safely.
