G
These are things that I was taught during my early years - and have since determined to be NOT biblical.
Things I no longer believe:
~ Pre-Tribulation Rapture
~ The Rapture occurs in secret.
~ There will be a Second Coming and a Third Coming.
Although it was never actually said this way, this is essentially what it meant. What was actually said was along the lines of:
"Jesus 'comes back' to 'rapture the saints' - but, because His feet do not touch the ground - it doesn't count as His Second Coming."
("This has to be the most ridiculously absurd thing that I have ever heard in my entire life.")
~ The '70th Week of Daniel' is "separated" from the other 69 weeks.
~ The '70th Week of Daniel' represents a 7-year Tribulation Period.
~ There will be two Judgments - One for the Saved, and One for the Lost.
~ There will be a wedding, a supper, and a judgment in heaven during the 7-year Tribulation Period.
~ Any passage of scripture making reference to a fig tree is somehow related to Israel.
~ The temple will be rebuilt.
~ The Gap theory.
~ The Big Bang theory.
~ The Evolution theory.
That is all I can think of right now.
Were you taught erroneous doctrine?
What do you no longer believe?
The scope of this thread is NOT to debate these issues in particular - but rather, to assemble a collection of short posts containing thoughts and ideas about the changing beliefs of Christians over time...
"one that more people actually might be willing to read"... (the whole thing)
Please keep the wording of your posts confined to lists of what has changed in your beliefs and short comments about those changes:
How you came about the change...
What made you change your mind...
How old you were when it occurred...
etc.
PLEASE DO NOT MAKE LONG POSTS FULL OF SCRIPTURE IN THIS THREAD!
PLEASE DISCUSS THE ISSUE WITHOUT TRYING TO PROVE ANYTHING!
PLEASE DISCUSS THE ISSUE WITHOUT MAKING A DISSERTATION!
If you want to DEBATE an issue - GO START ANOTHER THREAD!
If you want to PROVE anything - GO START ANOTHER THREAD!
A short (one sentence or less) "generalized" thought-provoking "suggestion of proof" is O.K. -- but, please leave out the long detailed explanations...
Thank You.
