The post was referring to Walter Veith. I appreciate the SDA for what it is. I was born in the same location where the SDA was founded by William Miller at its root. It may have been by SDA neighbors encouragement to Bible study as a teen that I was later born again. I posted my views on Mr. Veith above noting that the SDA is no slouch when it comes to Bible Prophecy, including the end of Protestantism and the warnings about freemasonry and the occult. I approve of the SDA and Mr. Veith's stance on the environment and health and the above issues.
It seems to me, that like the Jehovah Witnesses that the SDA focus is on the old testament law and the new testament prophecy, conveniently (sometimes) skirting past the gospel message of Jesus and the Apostles in the New Testament system of The WAY. Seventh Day Baptists transitioning to Seventh Day Adventists still seem to carry along a little too much judaic old testament mindset. I do appreciate the 'gnostic' (as it were, just a term) gospel that the SDA preaches and have learned from it. The call however is to the Gospel message and the precepts and lifestyle of The WAY -- that keep us from the awful wrath that much prophetic scripture has to share. The SDA brethren have much to share and it is appreciated, but there are doctrinal issues to be addressed, and that beyond which day one worships. GBU for sharing ...
"The way" is clear Looking at the Old T or the New T
Luk_4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
Pro_30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Pro_14:15 The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
Deu_8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
Just live by faith Old T & New T
Habakkuk_2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
Rom_1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Gal_3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
Heb_10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
The law is good both Old T & New T
Pro_4:2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
Rom_7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
1Ti 1:8 But we know
that the law is good,
if a man use it lawfully;
Its not that we use the Old Testament more we just use the whole bible.
Its when people only want to read the New Testament that makes me wonder less of curs its a babe in Christ and not yet read the whole word.
Heb 5:10-14
10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.
12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the
oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. Heb 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
See the writer of Hebrews had a issue with people not knowing their Old Testament "oracles of God"
1Co 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
1Co 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
1Co 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
1Co 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
1Co 10:5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
