Incidentally, I grew up hunting and trapping, so I had a variety of rifles, .22cal up to .308 rifle and several shotguns, no handguns... all for hunting and recreational target shooting.

Guns rights are typically about a protection of property and of personal safety.
I can guarantee you Jesus would never say use a gun against someone in the name of material goods.
As for personal protection, one of our commandments is though shalt not kill. Jesus suffered death before he brought that kind of suffering to the world.
I don't believe people should not have the right to carry weapons.
I do, however, believe that Christians in all cases would choose not to use them.

Does anyone remember back a few years ago when all those cheap c grade armageddon christian movies were made where every person everywhere in american was a gun toting vigilante? I wouldn't want that for any Christian nation. I remember going to Cuba, a communist country and airport personnel carrying handguns and assault rifles and thinking... wow this must be a really bad place for crime, coming from Canada where no one anywhere carries a gun, except for cops. I think as Christians, all of you americans should personally not own a gun. We know who we are, who we worship, where we go when we die with absolute certainty. All of the apostles died horrificly for their testimony of Jesus Christ. Freedom is the right to walk and go anywhere, do whatever you do in freedom and not fear. Our fate is in His hands and set examples for your children... let them know America is a free country where kids can walk on the streets without fear, or some punk kid stealing his parents guns and shooting him.
