Obama's call for gay rights makes history

Obama’s Second Inaugural Speech
Published: January 21, 2013

"We, the people, declare today that the most evident of truths – that all of us are created equal – is the star that guides us still; just as it guided our forebears through Seneca Falls, and Selma, and Stonewall; just as it guided all those men and women, sung and unsung, who left footprints along this great Mall, to hear a preacher say that we cannot walk alone; to hear a King proclaim that our individual freedom is inextricably bound to the freedom of every soul on Earth.

Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law. For if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well"

Three police officers kept a tight rein on a crowd to keep them on the sidewalks and off the streets at the corner of Waverly Place and Christopher Steet, half a block from the Stonewall Inn. The image was shot by Times photographer Larry Morris on the evening of Wednesday, July 2, 1969, five nights after a raid on the Stonewall Inn, a nightclub on Christopher Street popular among gay men and lesbians, touched off the disturbances. The Stonewall uprising that began 40 years ago this month has come to be seen as a defining event in the development of the gay rights movement. no, Mr. Obama...you're not talking about equality under the LAW, you're talking about "special rights" for some under the Law.
we know where that's coming from and where it's headed.

Animal Farm
George Orwell

Chapter One

Now, comrades, what is the nature of this life of ours? Let us face it: our lives are miserable, laborious, and short. We are born, we are given just so much food as will keep the breath in our bodies, and those of us who are capable of it are forced to work to the last atom of our strength; and the very instant that our usefulness has come to an end we are slaughtered with hideous cruelty. No animal in England knows the meaning of happiness or leisure after he is a year old. No animal in England is free. The life of an animal is misery and slavery: that is the plain truth.

Why then do we continue in this miserable condition? Because nearly the whole of the produce of our labour is stolen from us by human beings. There, comrades, is the answer to all our problems. It is summed up in a single word--Man. Man is the only real enemy we have. Remove Man from the scene, and the root cause of hunger and overwork is abolished for ever.

Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals. He sets them to work, he gives back to them the bare minimum that will prevent them from starving, and the rest he keeps for himself. Our labour tills the soil, our dung fertilises it, and yet there is not one of us that owns more than his bare skin.

Is it not crystal clear, then, comrades, that all the evils of this life of ours spring from the tyranny of human beings? Only get rid of Man, and the produce of our labour would be our own. Almost overnight we could become rich and free. What then must we do? Why, work night and day, body and soul, for the overthrow of the human race! That is my message to you, comrades: Rebellion!

Remember, comrades, your resolution must never falter. No argument must lead you astray. Never listen when they tell you that Man and the animals have a common interest, that the prosperity of the one is the prosperity of the others. It is all lies. Man serves the interests of no creature except himself. And among us animals let there be perfect unity, perfect comradeship in the struggle. All men are enemies. All animals are comrades.

The vote was taken at once, and it was agreed by an overwhelming majority that rats were comrades. There were only four dissentients, the three dogs and the cat, who was afterwards discovered to have voted on both sides.

All the habits of Man are evil. And, above all, no animal must ever tyrannise over his own kind. Weak or strong, clever or simple, we are all brothers. No animal must ever kill any other animal. All animals are equal.

ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS.

[side note: look at this NEWSPEAK rubbish from THE BIG SPEECH:

"America will remain the anchor of strong alliances in every corner of the globe; and we will renew those institutions that extend our capacity to manage crisis abroad, for no one has a greater stake in a peaceful world than its most powerful nation. We will support democracy from Asia to Africa; from the Americas to the Middle East, because our interests and our conscience compel us to act on behalf of those who long for freedom. And we must be a source of hope to the poor, the sick, the marginalized, the victims of prejudice – not out of mere charity, but because peace in our time requires the constant advance of those principles that our common creed describes: tolerance and opportunity; human dignity and justice."]

“Syrian women, men and children face murder and starvation at the hands of their own government, simply because they demand respect for the universal human rights this Council exists to protect and advance,” Brimmer told the session.

“Let our nations demonstrate today that the world stands united with the people of Syria, for it is they who represent their country’s future, just as Assad and his murderous cohort represent its past,” she said.

Equal rights under mans law.

Due to the hype of this debate, (as well as others) I've notice the split in our opinions to the bases of what we come to agree upon. As our Lord said, a house divided could not stand. The Bible also says, we are to love our enemies. Not that we should come to except their life styles or the things that they do.

I don't believe by our words alone we're gonna make a difference. But being lead by the Spirit in our actions. Even if my opinion mattered and it lined up with God's word, if my actions do not follow, not only am I not a man of my own words, I'm also not being a man of God.

Its so easy to speak the truth for some believers. Specially when we see the flaws in others, we know are not the flaws of our own. But i also know i have a hard time loving my enemies, as the Lord also commands.
Some think just by sharing the Gospel with others is love enough. Ok, then if a person tells you they love you and yet their actions don't seem to follow, would you still believe they loved you?

Man's law is Man's law. And as believers, who believe in the word of God, knows that we are not under law but under Grace. We love the Lord because he first loved us. What that also means to me, He loved me when i was still yet a sinner. My Lord has given me mercy and grace, as he still in my life, that i may come to love him and do as his word says. (John 14:15 - If ye love me, keep my commandments.) My Lord also said, Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.

hi biggie.
i never, ever, ever forget where i was when Jesus reached down for me.
i can not say my sin was anyone else's doing.

i can say that as a lost sinner; 'my' sinful 'ignorance' about my sinful condition is exacerbated by the prevailing social meme that there is not only no sin, but that the more sinful one is, the more lobbying for protection for my right to carry out my sinful practices will eventually be done by 'my' pet sin group.

this is nothing profound, and nothing you didn't say.

it's just a reminder that propping up through PCisms and validating what every one of us knows in our hearts is wrong (unless we are reprobate) is not helping anyone, especially the ones seeking validation for their sin through lobbying for protection from GOD - THE LAW AND THE CROSS < what a sad state.

and you are right on both counts - our words won't ultimately change the machine's agenda...and, our words have to equate with loving the sinner (when i could still get around okay it was going back to my pet sin group - addicts - and loving them by loving them AND sharing the Gospel which is accompanied by The Law - or the Cross will mean little).

I understand what your saying and i would also agree. Not to say your words were no where loving. I've just heard many others on this debate that have not been loving. So this was to Add on to what i hope was being said. Not a put down on what was being said.

Wait, so whats the problem here? I mean 20-30 years from now children will look back on people who opposed this the same way my generation looks back on the people that opposed racial equality. Trust me, its not a pretty look back.

From Obama a spiritual vein is issuing. That of profligacies that I also see full and wide spread in the great tribulation of fornication Sodomy of physical and spiritual sense. Specifically mentioned in Rev.17:3-5, Jude 7, 18:2:-9, Rev. 11:8. This vein of Obama is under the influence of that spirit that is now working greater more than ever in this world increasing as a woman's birth pains increasing closer and closer preparing for the Anti-Christ to be ushered on to the world order the Son of perdition. I will oppose His foist of fornication and sodomy He is not a ruler dictator or King but he is pushing himself closer to it He agreeed to uphold the constitution not to change.

Nautilus,
i see no connection between racial equality and the gay agenda.
one is human beings created in God's image treating each one as human beings, not animals, not using skin color as a cover for barbarism.
the other is the representative of an entire nation making a declaration on behalf of that nation that sexual sins condemned by God are good, and to be encouraged.

they are apples and oranges.

we are not in any way helping the homosexuals by telling them what they want to hear now.
if you don't know what God has said about it, maybe you should look.

i don't vote and am not politically active. i won't be opposing anything.
i'm just watching, and suggesting we be prepared to be persecuted for trying to remain within God's plan for sex and marriage and male and female.
and that we be ready to give an answer to any who are called out and seek God.

gays aren't happy, naut.
you know they're not. that's why they act out constantly. all the drama and activism.
drunks aren't happy. drug addicts aren't. adulterers aren't.
it's all real slavery.

and they're just being used to advance a program. everyone who takes part in this rebellion will lose in the end, naut.

Zone,

You are so right about the fact that they are not happy. Most have had drug and alcohol abuse issues on top of being gay, many have been sexualy abused. All are carrying a heavy load of guilt. Many of the churches are no longer pointing them to the one who can break those chains or they are to busy throwing an anchor to a drowning man.

Yes sinful children who hate God and His children will look back at us with contempt. If you are driven by the desire to have people speak well of you, then this whole Christian thing is not for you, buddy.

Luke 6:26 - Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets.

I pray that my children are willing to be despised and rejected for the sake of Christ like Christ was for His Father.

Funny I plenty of gays who are more than satisfied in their lives. They were actually more depressed when they were in the closet and had to deal with family members who were religious and they knew would reject them if they came out. Now they've separated from their families and lead great lives. Actually happier than some of my straight friends. So your broad generalization is pretty flimsy.

well if youre ok with being despised over simply not letting people get married so they get the same civil liberties straight couples do then be my guest. Personally I dont want people to look back and remember me as one of those bigots.

sarah....when we are:

born into a fallen world
start off in sinful lives
continue in sin and rebellion
and are affirmed in it...

what tragedy is this.

even if our consciences are pricked,
without someone telling us the truth - in love (hard or soft) - which no addict (sex or other) wants to hear
at first.
given or seek drugs or other things to still the conscience
nothing works

more tragedy.

we know something is wrong
but everyone we talk to says
maybe something happened in our childhood
so we play the blame game for awhile.

that no longer works.
more drugs.
more sin.
depression.

more affirmation and enabling.
despair.
......???? then what?

the stats aren't there Naut.
they're covering up the real truth.
suicide; promiscuity; stds; murder; mental illness....nothing good naut.
they're people who need life, not death, man.

gays are being used as an army right now.
this is nothing new.
the ppl advancing this don't care about them.
it's not just a gay thing....there's far worse waiting in the wings through the Supreme Court.
way worse.
bestiality is next on the docket.
look for yourself....it's already approved for the military overseas.

this is a planned takedown.

God is angry with the wicked every day.

sex in this life is less than meaningless if it's going to earn Judgment naut.
i dunno.

it's depressing

Just a question for you Have you had to deal with any that have been alcoholics or drug abusers? Have you had
someone you know die from complications from AIDS? Have you known anyone that has committed suicide because of it? In every single one of those I have,it's part of the dirty little secrets that are so often under reported and very often not mentioned about how wonderful that lifestyle is. You see the facade and it looks so good from the outside but it's not so wonderful when you get underneath the surface. You do realize that most gays will live an average of 15-20 years less then a smoker? Never mind the rest of the health issues that are 100% preventable which are due to a direct result of the behavior.

most will turn around and abuse.
this isn't complicated in that sense.

Godlessness in the Last Days
1But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.

6They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. 8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth—men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

so do i sarah.
but naturally they seek out gay affirming 'churches'.
no one is teaching the Law there.

a wonderful pastor (who gave me my first Bible:)) said one of the best places to find them is in hospitals and jails.
they can't run off.

i did for awhile. several hospitals.
until the hospitals said "No Jesus allowed here"
all you could do was wear a small cross.
even that was enough for the ones in the psychiatric wards.
i used to sit with them on the grounds....and see sometimes they had made trinkets...usually pleas to God.

but then the men in white come in.

an agnostic doctor i talked to said, "you know, it's funny...nearly every person in the psych ward talks about Jesus"

she said it to me when i was first in one.

the psych ward for christians or sinners seeking Christ was a Soviet method.
it still is.

what do we do about stuff like this Sarah?:

"She points out there we are in a critical moment of the Churches evolution with Christ working within the Body of Christ today to tear down walls of discrimination and exclusion and welcome everyone home. Who can stop God when He/She sovereignly moves? Nobody. In the words of Gamaliel; if this move is of God "you will not be able to stop it; (and if you try) you will only find yourself fighting against God.""
