And we both know we don't live in a perfect world...so I thought ahead and bought my car now before any woman can say NO! ;) As I see it, the car is now grandfathered into any relationship I may fall into, so thereby takes more inportance. :p

I'm mostly kidding, but there is some truth to it...

*predicts that adekruif will be single well into his 40's* :p

At least I still have 18 some odd years left to enjoy my cars. :D There's always two sides to a coin. ;)

What's actually gonna happen, will be you will fall for a girl that will make you realize that being with her means more to you then a car :) I'm gonna call it~ remember this day~ so when that day comes, you can hear my voice (even though you don't know what my voice sounds like), say "I told you so" :P

See how optimistic I am about your future!!! :)

They do say you find love when you aren't looking for it. In that case, I am in serious trouble, and I better join some dating sights immediately.

I think we kinda derailed Crimson's thread too...

Not only will people rudely ask why you aren't married, if you honestly answer, others will have the nerve to expect you to defend your very personal feelings on the topic. *smh* I don't like to encourage bad manners, so when people stick their noses into my personal business I find responding with an awkward silence very entertaining. :D

If you're afraid of being offended, skip this post.

I'm not married because I haven't said yes to anyone. Well, I said yes to one guy, but thank the Lord, we broke up. Every boyfriend I've ever had has proposed, and I said no because I KNEW it was going to be a wreck. The first proposal I received was at 19 years old. I don't think any 19 year old American should get married. Your prefrontal cortex (the frontal lobe is what tells us what kind of consequences we can expect) isn't done cooking until you're 25! And yes, we can't ever fully know our consequences, but adults have a better idea of ramifications to expect than a child does. All these young kids who are spoiled and haven't had to do much work in their short lives are getting married and expecting a Disney experience. Women expect prince charming and men expect a playboy bunny. It's not surprising that marriages that aren't centered on a real relationship with Christ fail.

Ladies, don't be bitter Betty's. Men mess up. They're human. They do stupid stuff. WE do equally (if not worse) stuff then men. Genesis 3 talks about men and women being separate, opposites in most respects. Men aren't psychic, they can't know everything all at once, they sin, they yell, they say stupid things, they forget to take out the trash, or don't bother to make dinner even though we've worked more hours that week than they have. It doesn't matter. Marriage is about sanctification and REAL love, not about just being taken care of. No, we as women should not collapse and take abuse, never voice our opinions, or whatever. If we're married to a real man, he may not agree with us, but he'll hear us out and pray about what we've said. If you're married to a man who disregards you, then you pray for him. And you pray that you don't try to suffocate him in his sleep. :p

I'm rambling. I get that. But it really upsets me when women pick on men and men pick on women. The genders have their tendencies, yes, but not ALL MEN or ALL WOMEN are the same. I'm not your ex. I didn't steal from you, cheat on you, crash your car, turn you into the police, etc. Whitney Houston may have been every woman, but I am not. And every man you meet isn't your ex, isn't your father, may not be your next abuser, or whatever excuse you may conjure to keep yourself safe and miserable. That's what it comes down to-- we keep choosing "bad" people for us so we can a) reenact abuse we've suffered in the past b) accept the love we think we deserve and c) to keep ourselves safe. If you want to meet a good mate, change yourself first. If you want to find a healthy mate, change yourself first. If you want a Godly man or woman, become one yourself. It sounds easy and trite, it's not easy but it is a little trite. However, it's true! I haven't had a boyfriend in 4 years because I had to fix me (And I'm so far from being "done"). And now, I could pick out a Godly man... I couldn't 4 years ago.

God leads, God guides, and I fully believe that God will bring a mate if it's His will. If it's not His will for me (you), then He'll give (me) us the grace and ability to deal with it. If you are staying single out of fear, I would encourage you to pray about why you're so scared. God is faithful! He will reveal your character, issues, habits, and hang ups if you ask.

^^Lol, my little brother does that, but I've never been able to pull it off. :D

Great post! Just wanted to call attention to the last part, and add that not only will He reveal our issues, hangups, etc.....He'll also help us fix them if we ask Him to. :)

Yes He will. He cares more about out character than our comfort.

Ya know, I'd rather marry later in life and have better years with a husband than to have gotten married years ago. If I had gotten married when I was younger... oh that poor man. That poor, poor man. Hell, I feel bad for the man the Lord may lead to marry me in the future. :p

Try it! Once you learn how much fun it is it gets easier ;)

Haha, maybe if someone's REALLY asking for it I could pull it off....but I've got this little trip-switch in my brain, whenever I see someone looking uneasy my inner mom tries to make it all better....it really is pathetic. << speaking of uneasy, this new eyeroll smiley......ugh.

LOL, yes, THAT ^^^ I feel the same way! :D

Very well put Aimee. And that "Your prefrontal cortex (the frontal lobe is what tells us what kind of consequences we can expect) isn't done cooking until you're 25!" part, explains a lot haha!My first serious bf was when I was 18, I thought I was gonna marry him~ THANK GOODNESS that didn't happen. We were so wrong for each other.

I think I was tested a month back and found myself slipping. I had a date with that starbucks barista guy who I was crushing on since September. He isn't Christian, but I figured that its just a date. It was a great date and we had a few drinks, then he brought up the topic of cuddling and sex. I made a covenant with God 6 years ago to wait until marriage regardless if I am in a relationship or not, which I promised never to break. While I did not break my covenant that night, we did kiss even tho I knew that he is moving away in two weeks and that a relationship isn't in our future. I disappointed myself that I allowed myself to go even that far with someone who isn't a christian, and who didn't have my best interest in mind. It made me realize that I need to be more cautious with my emotions, and who I give them to. And even if a guy is super attractive, we bond and have great conversations and lots of laughs- if he isn't a godly man, in the end, it won't work. God has someone else in mind for me.

I think it's worth noting that the right kind of woman will always short out a man's pre-frontal Cortex :P

I like what Pastor Adrian rogers said " Its better to wish you were married than wish you weren't" .When someone says how come your not married yet? Just turn it into a joke and who cares what they say.Its a stupid question.

I'm not usually asked why I'm not married, I usually get asked why I'm not dating. That's what all the cool, young people are doing now, I suppose. My honest answer (that I've never been pursued/asked) is usually met with pity or disbelief. I usually respond to that with, "I'm fine with that now, really." To which the response is usually, "That's what they all say!" That's when I start to get annoyed.

As a side note, why can't a guy have nice cars and a woman? I like nice cars! With the one I have now, it's nice, but in a pretty nice, not a "Whoa. Nice." nice. I have to make my own "vrrrrrrooooommmm VRRROommmmm" sound effects when the need arises. Which a "Whoa. Nice." car does on its own.

Luckily strangers still mistake me for a teenager, so I have never been asked that.

It's a rude question though. SOCIETY CANT STAND WHEN SOMEONE IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT!
"OMG you're not married?!?!? that's different!!!! I'm gonna pop with confusion!!!!!!!!!!!!"

*ahem* mini rant over...

I like Jullianna's awkward silence solution. :D
