Do y'all ever get so frustrated with someone or a group of people because they don't see how what they're doing or how they're doing it isn't a good idea? I'm frustrated with a few people in my life because they don't see the larger picture, they don't really see how what they're doing affects them and others.

But I can't do anything about it. I can pray (I can and have and will continue to). But I can't shake them and say, "hey! Look at what you're doing! See past the end of your nose!" I'm not co-dependent enough to try to fix anyone, hence the violent shaking. I do wish, however, that they would open their eyes and pay attention. The Bible says "my people perish for a lack of knowledge". It breaks my heart.

everything you said is evidence of a tender heart aimes...
I have to rememeber to " be " the change I wish to happen.. Only control we got over any of it..
You're a lamppost on a hill , we can only pick up the ones falling down in front of us .

I've been cursed with the ability to do the math. Most people can't. Call it discernment, call it a gift of wisdom, but my heart breaks when what I see ahead is a long and rough road for them. But no one changes without a catalyst, nothing ignites without a spark. I'll just have to pray and be there for them when I can.

Many of us know exactly what you mean. I remember going through some challenging times during my first year of college. I found myself asking many people for help with a relationship matter. But I didn't feel I was getting the help I was looking for.

In retrospect, I realize I wasn't ready to accept the truth. Sometimes people just haven't gone through the fire enough to accept the truth. Some people just take a lot longer than others to embrace God's truth as opposed to looking for answers to satisfy selfish desires.

Just keep doing what I'm sure you are doing, praying for them and loving them.

Yes. Especially this group called "American Voters."

This sentiment makes sense to those who think their choice should always win. Interesting how people praise the U.S. Constitution unless it works against their own self-interest. :)

Well, that's not true with me. I still have a lot of respect for the U.S. Constitution even though the outcome of elections doesn't always please me. My comment was a joke. I don't think our resident Duchess intended this to be a political thread (sorry Aimee). I'll stick to topic with no more wise-cracks now. :(

My apologies to you for misreading your intent. :)

I have a friend that is like this all the time. She is always making the same complaints and asking for advice on the same topics, sometimes for years, but never acts on, or follows through with what i say. She may give it a half hearted try, say its too hard, or doesn't work, then keeps doing the same thing that wasn't working all along.

Sometimes, the thing that people need to hear is the one thing that they don't want to hear. I get impatient with people like this and will be honest and figuratively grab them by their shoulders and shake them to wake them up. I don't beat around the bush. Maybe not the most compassionate thing to do, but its tough love I guess. I won't be like everyone else and support the same behavior by 'being there' for them when they don't try. Ugh. I've gotten myself all flustered lol.

I have a sister who drives me insane...she's been the "difficult" family member for a long time now, but in the last couple years, she's decided that I'm her best friend. Because she won't go out and MAKE her own friends. So then she calls me or literally stalks me on facebook to complain about her life, and I used to offer advice, and she wouldn't just ignore it, she'd start arguing with me about why that wouldn't work for her.

A couple months ago I realized I can't fix her, I can't even help her, so...I don't talk to her. I don't make myself available to her, except when we both happen to be at family gatherings.

Sometimes, you just can't win. Walk away. Waaaalk....awaaay...

This.

I had an instance last summer where multiple people tried to tell this Christian woman (in a leadership position) some things she was doing that was hurting other people. She didn't listen. I tried to confront her about it as well, in as loving of a way as I could, and she ripped me to shreds for it.

Which, ironically, proved the point I was trying to make with her. But she couldn't see that.

Sometimes there's nothing you can do besides pray. Pray that their heart/eyes will be opened and they can be reached somehow before they do more damage to anyone else.

I don't know. i have a hard time not beating around the bush with people. I'm not sure i could be that direct.
