Just on the other side of the Theodore Roosevelt dam, is the lake with same name. I rode my motorcycle form Hwy 88 through Apache Junction where the road turns into a gravel and sand road and winds around the Apache lake.
Hey Ahwatukee
Cool pic! I have been up there several times . Have you explored the areas around Roosevelt lake ? Asbestos point is cool . It’s a old mine that can be explored. A bit of caution though some times a big cat or two moves in lol . Still it’s worth the ride and hike .
Blessings

The only exploring that I did was riding the unpaved trail from Tortilla Flats to the dam. I took that ride twice on my Goldwing and won't do it again unless I have dual-sport bike. On the way to the dam, I had to deal with deep sand and wash-board ridges that make your teeth chatter. And by the time I got to the dam, both me and the bike were covered with dirt. Beautiful views though.
