I am not a Pastor yet . A bible study teacher is more like it for now ,who knows what God's desires are in the near future ,only he . i care for the flock right now .. you are not the first and won't be the last to ask . I give what I have willingly for the lord to bless ,God germinates for his Glory .
Outstanding. Your Wordart states that God will contend with those who are contending with His children . . . would you agree that the Lord uses people to do His contending? As I read Scripture, is seems that we are to be side by side with one another, fighting the good fight together. When one is in battle, the True Body of Christ by default should step up to the plate and enter into battle with you . . . wouldn't you agree?

No . standing in battle is different from fighting . the battle is the Lord's remember that . the lord emphasized that in the old testament in his walk with Israel . I would always encourage believers to not ignore the stories written because they are not history notes but details record of God's direct deals with MAN as a whole . . remember the weapon of the believer are not carnal but to the pulling down of strong holds .. . the fight is not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers in high places .. If you have a dispute with anyone state your plea to God . stand in battle don't flee .. God will do the fight in his way .

I hear what you're saying. Look at it like this . . . Jesus was distraught that his disciples couldn't even stay awake while He prayed to His Father. As the text seems to indicate, He wanted His followers, such as Peter, to "contend" with Him. In other words, He wanted their attention, to stand beside Him, offering the most simple forms of support. Contending for each other can be as simple as suffering with others as they suffer . . . to stay awake . . . to remain by their side.
No. I'm not talking about physical fighting, but emotional support. This would include asking a pastor to pray for you, but instead of praying for you, that pastor leaves and gives their time to someone else. Asking a pastor to pray for you is a basic way in which we are to contend for each other. Pray is not an earthly battle, but a Spiritual battle. Does this explanation make more sense?
1 Thessalonians 4:10 NLT - "Indeed, you already show your love for all the believers throughout Macedonia. Even so, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you to love them even more."
The Thessalonians were perhaps the greatest people that Paul had the chance to work with, for in his writings, Paul makes it evident that they had "Love" all figured out, encouraging them to show this Love more and more.
Colossians 2:1 NIV - "I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally."
We should not abandon the Brethren but go to them, particularly in times of difficulty. Certainly, Paul sent Timothy to Ephesus to help that community of people who had been overrun by the two false, renegade teachers. We must be available to help those who are in trouble.
So, what do we make of a pastor who struggles in this area? We ask for prayer, yet they depart and help others?

Fellowship is very vital in the walk of the believer . i understand what you mean more clearly . am glad you don't speak of getting a bunch of believers to go fight physically .

Paul checked on believers periodically to ensure they remained straight not forsaken what was impacted to them but grow to fruition .. A pastor should do that for him brethren periodically. Watering the seed is necessary

As I noted, Pastors are tools used by God, to contend for the flock. Pastors are to be a shield of protection; they are to lay down their life for the flock, their Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
John 15:12-13 NLT - "This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends."
Is there any greater way to "contend" for one another than to be willing to die for them? So, what do you recommend be done about a pastor who refuses to acknowledge you through a simple request such as a prayer, but gives their attention to others? What is the appropriate action?

Giving attention to others is objective . when a Shepherd leaves 99 to get 1 sheep from the wolf it would seem wicked to leave the 99 unattended to .. But in the kingdom its up to the Shepherd to discern what's urgent . don't be quick to call foul till you have clear understanding on what the facts are . reach out to the pastor privately explain your plea ,and if that's fruitless? The believer has one high priest in Jesus . he alone makes intercession so reach out to him,he's not one not moved by your infirmities . In this life man will always be man imperfect but in Christ adequate .
