About
I think everyone on Christian Chat should have to follow these basic rules of etiquette:

1. Don't post on the forums in a large font. It makes it look like you're yelling. And it makes it look like an attention-seeking child wrote it, which makes most people stop reading it before they've finished the first sentence.

2. If you're an attractive married woman in your 20's or early 30's, don't post a picture of yourself as your avatar. You're just asking to be creeped on.

3. If someone asks you what's going on, don't respond with "nothing much". That's a terrible way to start a conversation. Asking someone what's going on is a way of sparking up a conversation topic, and if you respond with nothing, it just says to the person that you're a boring individual who has never done anything in their lives and never plans to do anything either. Instead, just answer the question and say what's going on. If you did something fun or notable recently, talk about that. If you're going to do something soon, bring it up. This is especially important if you've never talked to that person before. At that point, literally anything you bring up will be new to them. You're not a blank slate; you have something to talk about. So talk.

4. You're not going to find the love of your life on here (or on the internet in general). Go to church and meet some folks. Okay, so person A and person X met online, and they're great together. Great. You're not them.

5. Seriously, go to church. This chat site is not a suitable replacement. In the U.S. there is absolutely NO excuse for not having a home church. And find one with people your age there; life is way better with friends in the same walk of life as you. If the churches near you are all bad, or don't have people your age, or are too judgmental, or etc then you haven't looked hard enough. Admit it, you've been to one, or maybe three churches in your area. They are not all the same. If they were, there would only be one church in your area. The plethora of churches in America exist because they are all different. Use that to your advantage. Start being a Christian believer and go have actual, real brick-and-mortar fellowship with other Christian believers.

6. If you want to protect your identity for security issues, that's fine. But don't go hiding your first name and what city you live in (or near). That's not being safe; it's being paranoid. And it's annoying for other, decent folks who just want to have a conversation. In a huge city, no one is going to come find you just based on the fact that they know your first name and you use the internet. Why would someone travel a thousand miles when there are literally tens of millions of people who live near them that also have the internet and first names?

7. If you're a guy, don't type in pink. Just don't. You're not proving you're secure in your masculinity; you're just giving the subliminal impression that you have low levels of testosterone.

8. If you have a kid in one of your pictures, people will assume it's your kid. Don't be misleading.

9. If you have a dog, do post multiple pictures of it. Especially if it's cute. Dogs are the best.

10. Have thick skin. People seem more blunt on the internet because there are no non-verbal queues or inflections to go with what they are saying. And know when they are being sarcastic. If you can figure that out and assume that things are being said with only good intentions, you'll have much better conversations.
