I’m a Florida girl with East Tennessee roots, because Florida may be where I live, but East Tennessee is where I grew up and where my heart still feels at home. For over the last year I’ve been flying back and forth between Florida and our family farm in Tennessee to care for my family, help wherever I’m needed, and spend a whole lot of time doing the things that make me happiest. Give me a porch, some sunshine, a garden and something growing in the dirt and I’m pretty content. I really do have a green thumb, so if there’s a plant around, chances are I’ve already figured out how to propagate it, save it, move it somewhere happier or convince it to thrive. I love Jesus, Scripture, family, old fashioned values, country roads, football, sunsets, animals and a good Southern conversation that starts with “Well, you’re not gonna believe this” and somehow lasts all evening. I’m sentimental, affectionate, a little stubborn, naturally curious and just quirky enough to make life interesting. I can talk about the Bible, farm life, gardening and football all in one conversation and see absolutely nothing unusual about that. I believe a woman should know how to pray, work hard, care for her people, grow something with her own hands, make a home feel like home and still know how to laugh when life gets ridiculous. I don’t need a fancy life. Give me family nearby, dirt under my fingernails, a beautiful sunset, something good cooking and God at the center of it all and I’ll call that a pretty good day. I’m just a Southern heart living between two states, following wherever God leads, caring for the people He’s given me and growing a little bit of something beautiful wherever I happen to be planted.
