Follow-up: If it is for edification, whose to say that one cannot have a personal prayer language? No.

    Concerning the gift of tongues

I did, I asked the first question for the relation of the second follow-up question. No in particular reason, just asking questions.

    Concerning the gift of tongues

Mistranslation, most copies will affirm what appeared to them like tongues of fire or divided tongues of fire. It means that it was not literal. Here, it is a little confusing because instead of "like" they use "as of". Personal Prayer language.

    Concerning the gift of tongues

That's approaching the Bible with a presupposition. You are assuming that because they had certain issues with pagan tradition, that they had an issue in this area. My friend, the Bible is the foundation, we have to approach our understanding without presuppositions. My first mentor always...

    Concerning the gift of tongues

Was it literal tongues of fire or was it something that had an appearance of fire? Also, what scriptural foundation do you have for tongues being personal? I believe in tongues, just letting you know. But I always love to hear fellow believers explanation.

    Concerning the gift of tongues

For this follow-up question: If the gifts are not used in witness and people received tongues in other places in Acts what was the purpose? And would it be personal because it was not interpreted.

    Blasphemy against holyspirit

That is not what the verse is saying. The verse is explicitly dependent upon the previous verses - and if that is the case, then read verse 8 which talks about them going to hell. Blasphemy against holyspirit

The author of Hebrews is instructing them to pursue maturity, but in verse 4-6 we must remember that he is addressing believers. For it is impossible for those who are once enlightened (this would be those that are saved the rest of the verse and v. 5 affirm this)... v6. and if they (the...

    Concerning the gift of tongues

Fair, thanks for the advice of skimming through. Just trying to add dialogue, but I agree, I should have read more posts before commenting.

    Blasphemy against holyspirit

No, that is not true. The Bible warns believers who may walk away. Hebrews 6 makes that pretty clear.

    Charismatic Christian

I cannot lie, I do love Rodney Howard Browne, he has impacted my life greatly. I try and remain vigilant and very aware. I do believe in the laying on of hands, gifts of the Spirit, that one can lose their salvation etc.
